Good but not worth 80 bucks.

Now let me start out by saying the Sol Republic shadow headphones aren't bad but they have some glaring issues that need to be addressed. First I'll start with the positives. So far the build quality is above average. I truly like the rubberized finish in the shadows. I've never felt like I might loose them when there just dangling around my neck. Sound quality is very good. A little light on the bass but that can be cured with a eq app. The controls are very user freindly and work well with my galaxy s6. Now the negatives. Sol Republic advertises "free ear buds for life" which is great if they were quality ear buds. The four sizes that ship with the shadows (for me at least) didn't fit at all. They where either too small and didn't seal or way too big and felt like they weren't all the way into my ear. I've been using the buds from my $20 Sony headphones since I purchased the shadows. Now to the worst part of the shadows. The blue tooth, I've gotten more range from a pair of $10 wired headphones. If you don't have a constant line of sight with your phone, the audio will cutout. I can walk about 4 feet from my phone and I'll loose the signal. Putting my phone in my thigh pocket will cause the Bluetooth to loose a signal and God forbid you put your phone in your back pocket. For $80 I would expect at least 10 foot line of sight range but you can't even put your phone in your pocket with these! This is why I cannot recommend the Sol shadows.

Good but, right side stopped working on 2 pairs...

I bought 3. One for myself one for my husband & one for my father. Great sound, distance pretty good, call quality great. Never had connection problems. After a year or so (of course after the warranty expired) the right side on both mine & my husband's stopped working. I also noticed on the band where you connect it to charge, the rubber covering was detaching from both, still usable. Debating on getting new ones since the were good for awhile, with 2 year protection this time.

These headphones are the single most comfortable set which I've owned. Easy Bluetooth pairing and easy controls. The casing and cord material is smooth and soft.

Would have given two stars if right bud didn't die

I have been using LG's Bluetooth line for a few years now, and after my last -830 died, I decided to try another line in the same price range. These Sol Republics looked good, and felt nice. Right out the box, I couldn't get any of the four sizes of plastic covers to stay in my ear. If the bud was maybe 1mm longer? It is frustrating, after trying all four sizes at least twice, that I couldn't get any to simply stay in my ear. The second problem is, especially after you cannot get a fit in your ear, the entire collar tends to ride one way or another. I tend to alternate ears while only wearing one (while commuting) and with the collar being as soft as it is, it tends to go vertical and slide. So these are definitely NOT good if you wear one ear at a time. The right bud died after only two weeks. The range is extremely short, and there is no improved sound quality. I'm talking short like, put your phone in your back pocket and you'll get audio clipping already. Eight hours of playback? Try 5. On low volume. Want to rock out, these will die by lunchtime. Work these issues out, and I'll try again in the future. Good idea, nice looking, just pis-poor performance all around.

I love these! The sound is amazing! The first time I put these on I was pleasantly surprised. The sound quality is wonderful. They stay charged for a good while. I use them to watch movies while on my treadmill and they stay charged on an average of 4 to 5 days! And I walk on my treadmill at least an hour, 7 days a week. Great product!

    Disappointed

Bought these to replace my LG headset which was similar. To begin with, the headphones have no way of being tucked out of the way like previous headsets I've used. originally thought these had retractable wires, but I chalk that up to my fault for not being more thorough in my research. There is nothing at all, magnetic or otherwise that will keep them out of the way. I am hoping that they are water resistant as advertised, as I do sweat quite often exercising or sitting (I have yet to test this in the 2 weeks of ownership, however my previous headsets had shortened battery life for not being water resistant). the biggest problem that I have with these headphones is that they tend to shift every time I turn my head and eventually either fall off, or if I catch it in time, I resituate them back to their original position at least once an hour. the sound quality is slightly muffled as compared to previous headsets. the pairing was not horrible as other users had issues, and as far as I can tell the functionality is there, however the marketing for water resistance for active users paired with the inability stay around your neck seems counterintuitive at best. This set of headphones would probably be great for someone intending to use them while relaxing in a sauna, however I had intended to use them in more of a day to day aspect. I would give it less than a 2 star rating if they didn't function regularly, however I suppose if you didn't move around much, they should be fine.

Overall poor sound quality both music and when used to make calls. I had a hard time hearing the person talking and consistent complaints of people unable to hear me as well.

This is my second pair. The first pair I recieved for Christmas shorted out on the left side as soon as I turned them on. The second pair I have now keep sliding off of my neck on one side or another and falling off! Very annoying. Im thinking about returning them for something different.

    Worthless

I used my shadows less than a dozen times. At first they were fine, but pretty quickly the sound quality started to suffer. They developed a buzz in the left ear, that got worse and worse. Now the hum is terrible, and the battery life is 33 minutes. Don't waste your $99 on this trash. And if you don't have a copy of your original receipt, forget about a warranty. Now I'm out 100 bucks, and have to buy new headphones out of pocket. I don't know who is having luck with these things, but I couldn't be less please. Even when they did work, they don't stay on your neck unless your sitting quite still, or walking casually. You can forget working out, running, cycling, leaning slightly to one side, complete and total trash.

    Got for Xmas

Got for Xmas, I have used the LG Tone products and the last one, the Plus was awful. I still have my original Tone 700 though. So I thought I would try these. I use headphones primarily during my bike commuting, approx. 25 miles round trip. The Shadow headphones, for the three rides I used it on, were awful. The signal continually cut in and out on the headphones which drove me crazy. Turning them off then on, reconnecting, anything I tried did not solve the problem. The headphones were under my jacket (its winter after all) but that should not matter. I went back to my LG 700 and it worked again (but only one earbud). So I'm returning the Shadow ones. They are not worth the money at all. Plus they do not retract, a major flaw in my eyes.

These things rock, I've had them for over a year now and they rock. The bass is good, better than other ear buds I've tried. Sound isolation is decent. Only complaint is that after 13 months the cover for the charging port came off.
