The main reason was to minimize the number of times I might need to climb a ladder when the battery drains and needs recharging. Although I haven't had either item very long the Solar Panel appears to be working as expected and the battery in the camera is staying charged.

In 5 over cast days the battery was 100%. Keeps the single battery fully charged, and not had to buy the 2nd battery or worry about having to charge the current battery this chargers it for me so I don’t even have to worry or think about it and able to put my camera where there was no power and don’t have to worry about it.

I was hoping that it would at the very least slow the rate at which I would have to pull my batteries to charge them but I have not once had to mess with them and they stay fully charged thanks to the solar panels and I have all the settings turned up where it uses the most power.
