It seems to work for what I purchased it for so far, however I have not tried to use the radio or other sound sources yet. Very early to ask for a review.???

Equipment was probably going to be good, unfortunately was never able to use it due to the App upgrade Sonos put out. Too many glitches that were never corrected led me to return this item.

Despite having the Sonos Amp professionally installed by the Best Buy Geek Squad, I can not get it to work correctly. The Geek Squad also installed a multi channel speaker selector at the same time. Some channels work correctly and others do not. The Geek Squad ordered a new and different speaker selector and will return to install it with the Sonos Amp next week. Right now I am straddeling the fence on this product. It does not have an on or off button which means it is constantly ON. Seems like a waste of energy/power.

Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately Sonos does not endorse the use of a speaker selector on this product as it can cause the issues you are describing as music playback can be greatly effected by the selector. In regards to power, we appreciate your concern around power consumption. The Sonos Amp does revert to a low power mode when music is not playing to ensure minimal power consumption while staying on your network for faster time to music when you want to start listening again. john.milton

    I love this Amp

Pros: Sounds great Easy setup Turns your existing speakers into Sonos - gives them wifi audio (controllable via Alexa, Google Assistant or Airplay2) and multi-room functionality Looks great and is much smaller than an AVR Sonos and Amazon just added Apple Music via Alexa. You can also use Alexa to send wifi audio to the Amp for other services (Pandora, Spotify, Amazon Music, etc.). Cons: No way to add a midrange speaker. The Amp can be part of a 5.1 system, but will be relegated to powering the satellites. You'll need a Sonos soundbar, or the Playbase, plus a Sonos sub if you decide you want a surround sound system in the future. The EQ is very bare bones. Just three sliders for Bass, Treble and Bal, plus Loudness. Sonos' Trueplay system doesn't work with the Amp in 2 or 2.1 configuration. Overall I am happy with the Amp. I didn't stress over the lack of EQ settings. It sounds great at the default settings with my speakers. Sonos has terrific quality control, and I have had no problems at all with the hardware or software.

I was hoping that this was better than the first one . There wasn’t a significant difference so I returned it and bought a connect and hooked it to an old amp I had lying around.

Does not work as it suggests, I have the unit in my family room which is where the Sonos Surround system resides as well. It wants to connect to the Sonos 1 and the Bass woofer but not the Arc Beam. And if you do connect the others, it removes them from the group. Not sure if its worth keeping

This Is How Audio Should Sound

I may sound suspicious when talking about any Sonos audio system but they have impressed me every single time. This time is no different. Setting up was easy and I was expecting a great experience and again it did not disappoint me. Power is a requirement for great audio and the Sonos Amp provides a lot of that. But that is not enough, a good amplifier does not cause static, hiss, whine or distortion and those are things not found in this Sonos Amp. I am an audiophile and will find issues where most people won't. That means that I have heard family members say that they though that two different systems sounded exactly alike although I could tell the difference; but this time one of my daughters actually told me, "Dad, this sounds richer than" another amplifier we have, a different brand. And she was right. You don't need to be an audiophile to enjoy its quality. My house is wired with Ethernet in the living and entertainment rooms. So the two built-in Ethernet ports is very useful. I didn't like that it uses only 2.4Ghz for Wi-Fi but it was not a problem for me and won't be for most people. Regardless, being able to control the amplifier with the Sonos app and use AirPlay are great. I did look for something I didn't like but I couldn't find any. It is definitely a nice addition to an entertainment or any room. Totally worth it!

This product is great for those who want the Sonos experience and sound quality but maybe have a pair of old passive speakers they’d like to use instead. The amp itself is a small, sleek, and compact black box with just three touch buttons on the front. The rear includes two pairs of banana jacks for your speaker wires (included are adapters to secure bare wires), a subwoofer pre-out, analog RCA inputs, HDMI ARC, and two ethernet ports. With the analog inputs you can connect a turntable, a CD player, or anything really. It does not have an optical input but Sonos sells an optical to HDMI converter for $25 on their website. For myself, I’m not using any of the available inputs but simply streaming music from the Sonos app. The app works like it would with any other Sonos device, allowing you to sync with multiple audio services such as Apple Muisc or Sirius XM. The amp also support’s Apple’s Airplay 2 protocol so it’s easy to send almost any audio from the phone to the, such as the audio from videos on Youtube. I have it connected to a pair of older entry-level Polk Audio bookshelf speakers and at 125W per channel it’s producing some incredibly rich and clean sound. I had a big smile on my face as soon as I played my first song on it. The volume is loud enough to fill the entire house! Unfortunately, I don’t have an extra powered sub lying around or else I would have tested that as well. Overall, there’s a lot to like about this amp. There's really not any negatives other than it is expensive and not going to be for everybody. For example, if you don’t have existing speakers and want a home theater setup you’re probably going to be better off with one of the Sonos soundbars. But if you are building a music room with custom in-wall speakers, or for the outdoor patio and want the simplicity of a Sonos system then this amp may be calling your name.

The technician who was sent to install the receiver was not knowledgeable. He left the job half done. His supervisor then came but too was not able to finish the job. It took Geek Squad 4 different technician to complete the work. Very disappointed by the service for the price they charged me

Easy to setup and use. For me I use this for outdoor speakers and love the convenience of being able to control this from my phone or by voice via an Amazon Dot I mounted outside in a covered area. Sound is good, will depend on the quality of your speakers. You can run 2 pairs of 8ohm speakers with this. That said it really is expensive. But I don't know of an alternative with the full functionality of this product.
