Pure Sonos
Posted .If you’ve already done your research then let me confirm that it’s all true, the good and the bad. Yes it is expensive, yes you gotta EQ out of the box (too flat at first) but all the pros outweigh those two cons. I connected these two my B&W CM2 bookshelves and WOW. Another con is getting hooked on these products! Also you can add a turntable but you’ll need to buy a phono preamp.

Small and powerful for the money!
Posted .I bought it for my computer desktop system and to power my Kef ls50s that need power to sound their best. love the small and slim form factor. Couple of things you need to know if used in this manor. I would recommend some kind of volume control if you dont want to use computer screen volume controls or volume controls on amp. It make an anoying blip sound when used. They say to use air play but i found signal some times drops out.I would recomend this amp.

Brings new life to my vintage stereo system
|Posted .The new Sonos Amp can do the following: 1. It can replace a stereo receiver to bring new life to any vintage stereo system you have lying around by giving it the ability to play streaming music. Most vintage stereo systems have wired speakers that are much better than computer speakers or smart speakers like the Echo Dot or Google Home Mini. The Sonos Amp comes with stereo RCA audio Line-In inputs so you can use legacy components such as a turntable, CD player, or cassette player. 2. It can also be used as a small footprint 5.1 home theater receiver by using two wired speakers as the right and left fronts, adding a standard RCA wired powered subwoofer, and using two Sonos Play:1 speakers as the wireless surrounds. For this review, I’m only testing it for the first use case. I’m currently using the Sonos Amp to bring new life to my beloved vintage stereo system. While a true audiophile might scoff at the components, I have fond memories of this system (consisting of a Sherwood S-2750CP receiver, Technics SL-DB10 turntable, Magnavox CDB465 CD player, Sanyo Ultrx RD C21 stereo cassette deck, and JBL 2500 Bookshelf Speakers) which was put together during my youth. I remember spending hours researching all the components as I put together the system over a period of time with my limited budget. Setup was really easy. Insert the banana plug adapters into the Sonos Amp. Insert the audio cables from my JBL speakers into the banana plugs and plug in my Magnavox CD player into the stereo RCA Line-In ports. Plug in the Sonos Amp to the AC outlet. Then download the Sonos App into my Android phone and follow the directions to connect the Sonos Amp into your network. I also added the Sonos skill to Alexa so I could use my Echo Dot to control the Sonos Amp. With the convenience of listening to digital music on my computer speakers and Echo Dots, I haven’t really listened to my JBL bookshelf speakers in a long time. I have spent the past 4 days listening to my music collection from both Amazon Music and my CD collection and it feels like seeing an old friend again for the very first time. The sound is very clean and smooth. Vocals and instruments are crisp and clear. Much better than listening to music using my Echo Dots or Google Home Mini. I didn’t test it at super loud volumes because I don’t want to disturb my neighbors but it definitely can get loud enough for me with absolutely no distortion. It’s been such a joyful experience using my vintage bookshelf speakers to listen to music again. Rock, Pop, New Wave, Folk Rock, Classical and Movie Soundtracks all sound great! I have been so impressed with the sound quality as a stereo amplifier, I’m really tempted to see how the Sonos Amp would perform as a 5.1 home theater receiver. In the future, I might connect it to my HDTV (since the Sonos Amp includes an HDMI port that supports ARC) and try it out. I would think using separate right and left front bookshelf speakers would create a wider sound field than my current soundbar setup.

Amazingly simple to integrate and setup.
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I have been an avid Bose guy for years...when I had the opportunity to change things up, I decided on Sonos. This decision was based at first on the ease of use of the Sonos One and how I could connect multiple rooms with the touch of a button...for years, I spent tons of money on Bose and anytime I wanted to upgrade to the next version, I just couldn’t justify the cost. With the advent of streaming music and having the control of these systems with my phone, I chose Sonos. I have a Sonos One in almost every one including outside that I installed in a gazebo...see pictures. I decided on this setup because will we be building out a pool soon, and wanted to wait on installing hard wired speakers until then. Since this review is on the new Sonos Amp...I’ll discuss that setup. I have a 75in Samsung 4K TV with the Sonos Playbar...I wanted surround sound, so I got the Amp and two Yamaha 6.5in in ceiling speakers...I installed the Amp and the speakers and am blown away with the sound!! Other than going into the attic, installation was as simple as a new Sonos One. I had it setup outside of the attic in 10-15 minutes. I have included a couple pics of what I did. So happy on this purchase and when I get the pool, I’ll be getting another Amp and a couple more Yamaha speakers:-)

Sonos Amp review: This is the best Sonos music streamer by far (even if it's not right for everyone)The Sonos Amp isn't aimed at casual music listeners. That market is better served by Sonos's wireless speaker lineup: The Sonos One smart speaker, the simpler Play:1, and their big sibling, the Play:5. The Sonos Amp is designed for audio

Q: Questionhello, i JUST updated to sonos 5.1 with playbar, sub and 2 one’s with alexa\google assist. my living room is large. i would like more power for this system. can i utilize sonos new amp to power up this setup without upsetting this 5.1 configuration ? thx
Asked by slick5o.
- A:Answer No The Sonos 5.1 system is comprised of active speakers which have amplifiers inside them , presumably perfectly matched to the drivers given the price point. There is no way to wire one of your existing speakers to the AMP.

Q: QuestionI have a Living Room using an ARC sounder connected to a 75" sony tv and sonos sub. Can I add a sonos amp with 2 passive in-ceiling speakers for surround sound?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Hi, and thank you for your question! You absolutely can. We recommend that if the Amp is wireless that you keep it within 20/30ft of the Arc. If everything is hardwired then you can put it where you'd like. Keep in mind there are different mounts sold for the Sonos Amp as well to make placing it even easier if putting it on a table or shelf isn't possible.

Q: QuestionIs the sub woofer output a 3.5mm aux port? If so does the amp come with a cable?
Asked by PaulNu.
- A:Answer The new amp has connections on the back that can accommodate 3.5mm stereo jack cables, a HDMI-arc cable, a subwoofer input and 2 Ethernet cables , but the cables DO NOT come with the amp. In the box you have the amp, the power cord, and 2 sets of banana plugs for the right/left speaker wire.

Q: QuestionI have speakers throughout my home, and they are on six different zones. What Sonos products would I need to be able to play different music on each zone? Thanks
Asked by Smiley.
- A:Answer Great question! It really depends on how your speakers are currently set up in their zones. The easiest way would be to use a Sonos Amp for each set of speakers in each room, but that would not take advantage of your current hardware which might be possible with a Sonos Port. In order to truly understand how to solve this problem a Best Buy In Home Advisor performing a free in home consultation would be the recommendation. Q: QuestionI have 3 rooms, two sets of wired ceiling speakers in each room with in wall volume control knobs in each room. Can I run all three rooms (6 total speakers) off this amp utilizing the volume control independently in each room?
Asked by BM.
- A:Answer Depends on the ohms and watts per channel. I personally would run a pair per amp. So you would need 3 amps. But the ohms will determine that, you could try to push more at your own risk of damaging the amp

Q: QuestionDoes this amp includes xlr input?
Asked by Ymlee.
- A:Answer In a word, no. If you have XLR connections then you are probably looking a more sophisticated solution.
Answered by Hugh
Q: QuestionHow many sets of architectural speakers can I run with one Amp? I thought I saw somewhere it was three sets (6) speakers total. If I do that, can I also power the sub?
Asked by Architecturalspeakersetup.
- A:Answer Yes you read correct, I have 3 sets (6 Speakers) and the Bluetooth Sub (Gen.3) set up. Works excellent
