Q: Do these go well as Surrounds w/ arc??
A: Yes! The reviews have been coming in now and these are an amazing addition to the Sonos Arc for a home theater. FWIW, there is some incorrect info being reported by some tech outlet regarding the Era 300s as rear surrounds and how many channels the system has. According to Sonos directly, the Arc becomes a 7.x.4 setup with the two Era 300s. The side firing drivers of the Arc work with the outward firing drivers of the Era 300s to create the L & R side surrounds and the inward facing driver (and I believe the forward one, too) are the rear surround L & R. All drivers are used, even without Atmos audio and it’s supposed to create a much greater overall immersion bubble. If you have a sub, it’s a 7.1.4 system and two subs make it 7.2.4. One or two reviews said that even with two subs is remains a 7.1.4 system but this is incorrect. When we see system info like that (x.x.x), here is the specific breakdown of what each one describes: 1st digits: ear level speakers (in number channels), 2nd digit: number of subs, 3rd digit: number of height channels. The second number that described subs is unlike the first and third which tell the number of channels. Because bass is omnidirectional, there are no “stereo” bass channels at this point (where they have two different tracks for bass). It just wouldn’t work well give the way that bass audio moves through space. So, that number describes the number of subs in the system. FWIW, the Beam G2 is also compatible with the Era 300s. According to Sonos, it too becomes a 7.x.4 channel system. The Era 300s add two actual height channels to the virtual Atmos height channels in the Beam itself.
A: Sadly not at this moment, but since ordering the Era 300 and setting up as surrounds compared to the one sl it is night and day! I was blown away how much crisp the sound is compared to the Sonos one sl. Do keep in mind that when sounds plays, the center channel of the era 300 will be disable by default due to how the arc is treated as ur center channels. I have yet to try music from Spotify or Sonos radio but will try this weekend! Hope this helps!
Q: are these rechargeable like the sonos move?
A: No. These are not rechargeable and will need to be plugged into power at all times. The Era 300 does support Bluetooth now, so you can stream music wirelessly or using the Sonos app with Wi-Fi to stream with a compatible music service.
Q: Can it handle rain and sunny weather
A: These are not outdoor speakers, so that would not be smart
A: You can only run 1 set of Sonos speakers . Remove the One SL’s , install the Era 300’s as your new surrounds and put your One SL’s in another room for playing music . The cords on the Era 300 speakers are permanently attached and are for a standard 120V outlet .
A: Yes, there are built in mics for voice assistant.
A: They will be available to preorder Tuesday the 14th!
