Didn’t love the sound. Didn’t think the spatial aspect sounded all that impressive. I have Klipsch Fivers and also Yamaha HS7, those are far superior. Obviously a single speaker is not like 2 studio monitors though costs are comparable.

Very disappointing. Mated with Arc soundbar and sub gen 2. Surround speakers are so low you really don't hear them. Not worth $900 plus. Returned. The Arc and Gen 2 sub sound just dandy together.

    Bad Amp Issue - Beware

Had bad amp on arrival. Started sending horrific static pops to entire Sonos arc system. Contacted Sonos who said this was a known issue. I returned both and kept my Sonos ones as rear surround. Too expensive for a product to have wide spread defects like this.

      Hi there,

I completely understand your frustration with getting the surround sound working on your Era 300s. Setting up surround sound can sometimes be tricky, but I'm determined to help you get it working perfectly!

      Troubleshooting Steps:

      Check Surround Settings:

Open the Sonos app and go to Settings -> System -> [Your Room Name] -> Surround Audio.
      Ensure "Surrounds" is enabled.
Double-check that your Era 300s are correctly identified under the "Surrounds" section.
      Source Material:

Make sure you're playing content that supports surround sound (e.g., Dolby Digital 5.1 or Dolby Atmos from a streaming service or Blu-ray player).
      Network Connection:

In the Sonos app, go to Settings -> System -> About My System. Find the 'Network Matrix'. Look for the 'WM:' numbers next to your soundbar and Era 300s. Lower numbers (like 0 or 1) are ideal, while higher numbers might indicate interference which could affect surround sound quality.
      Speaker Placement and Room Acoustics:

Try repositioning your Era 300s further away from walls and reflective surfaces if they're too close.

      I hope this helps!

(Please note: When setting Era 300s up for surround, the front firing speakers will no longer play unless disconnected from the surround setup.) john.milton

The company has removed so much functionality when they rushed out an update to the app, and now are avoiding ALL means of contact. I just bought this 4 months ago and mine is a $450 brick. Worhtless.

Thank you for your honest feedback. We are truly sorry to hear that setting up the Era 300 has been such a frustrating experience. While the Era 300 is designed to integrate seamlessly, we understand that setup issues can make it challenging to fully enjoy its capabilities.

If you’re open to trying a few troubleshooting steps, here are some recommendations that might help:

Ensure Consistent WiFi Connection: Make sure your speaker and app are connected to the same network and that the network is stable. Sometimes, using a 5GHz network instead of a 2.4GHz can improve stability.

Check for Firmware Updates: Occasionally, device compatibility and connection are affected if firmware isn’t up-to-date, so please ensure both your speaker and app are using the latest versions.

Reboot and Reconnect: As a last step, a full reboot of both the speaker and your mobile device, followed by reconnecting in the app, can sometimes clear up lingering issues.

If the issue persists, our support team would be glad to assist further. We genuinely want you to enjoy your Era 300 without hassle, so please let us know how we can support you best. Feel free to reach out at support.sonos.com john.milton

Poor connection and it kept on disappearing on the Sonos app. Tried to reset and it eventually stopped to show up on the Sonos app completely. If you already have Arc and Sonos ones, you can skip this one

Right from the box this speaker was nothing but fun. It was packaged in a very cool, eco friendly box. All I needed to do was choose a location and plug it in, then download the Sonos app. The setup was a little tricky because I had to create a new Sonos account and then log into my other apps to give them permission to play on the speaker, but once I finished that I have had no issues whatsoever. Another cool part of the setup was having the speaker auto tune, where it sent sounds out from the speaker and then analyzed the feedback so that it could tune the speaker for the best sound to fit the room. Once setup, the speaker has been a blast. And it quite literally can blast music the way I like it - with lots of bass and lots of treble. The sound is crisp, clear, deep and loud. So loud that I have not been able to reach max volume. And even at high volumes the sound quality is really good. As far as the spatial sound goes, I think it works well. All corners of the room have great sound but I am not sure what spatial sound is supposed to be like (except in movies), so I am unsure how to rate this. I was able to setup Amazon Alexa and Amazon Music directly to the speaker. I can use either a Sonos prompt or the Alexa prompt to operate the speaker. It can somehow here my commands even when the volume is really loud, or when I speak very softly, so I am also very pleased with that performance. Overall, I am very pleased with the quality, sound and style of this speaker.
