Portable, Streaming, Expensive can connect devices
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Aptly titled –a speaker that streams music and wireless. No bluetooth or MP3 capability. Sets up relatively easily and is uncomplicated to use. Sonos instantly played Pandora. The quickstart set-up guide gets by, but instruction- is atrocious. You must download their setup (PDF) plus their “How to Set up” from their web page. Movable from room to room. It reproduces good music; however, due to price, I rate only 4-stars. For this price, Sonos needs to provide as a unit a matched wired-speaker for stereo. Also, Sonos provide a cheaper wireless satellite speaker; i.e., modify Sonos 1 to be compatible with Sonos 3, . That being said, two Sonos 3’s for wire-less music in two rooms seems relatively cheap (at twice the cost). Also, with the cash available, plus some savvy about audio setup (or goggle it), you can add on, for example, your existing stereo system. Best Buy provided the Connect ($349) that wirelessly plays my stereo system through Sonos 3. Thereby, plays either CD, tape, or LP. An RCA Y-connector or switch box connects all three to Sonos, plus an added RCA Y-connector wire maintains existing CD to TV connection. I had to experiment with the sequence of getting it to play my CD, etc. In their manual on web page, you find, for example that there is no on-off switch (the button on top only pauses the sound). It’s instant-on when unplugged and plugged back in, but it’s unplugged anyway moving between rooms. I unplug all solid-state electronics when unused. As for quality, the bass is good and the mid-range and highs are good. It has more speakers than Sonos 1. I suspect that its less quality than a stereo system such my 70 watt speakers w/ 90 watt amp. I haven’t tried both side-by-side, but suspect the highest highs and lowest lows are not there. Has lots of acoustic power to listen in adjacent rooms with volume up. There are alternatives with bluetooth and MP3 format, USB/RCA input, etc. (Bose sound systems, Sony shelf stereo systems, Samsung Giga mini system). Depends on what you want; this one is portable.

Love it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this speaker for a week and I'm loving it. It was easy to set up - getting it out of the box was the most time consuming part. Sounds really good. Am very happy that I can listen to sat radio on it. Sounds much better (and can go to much higher volume) that the internet radio I have.

A Great Sound in a Little Box
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wanted something for the bedroom and was going to pick up the Logitech Internet Radio when I stumbled across this. Did a little research and spoke with another customer at the store who was a big audiophile. He closed the deal (and he doesn't work there) for me. Took it home, easy to set up, I use my phone or my IPad as a remote for it. Sound is great. The Sonos remote is very pricey IMHO. Music and stations from around the world PLUS support for ITunes, Pandora and other internet music stations! Draw backs- It's not totally wireless out of the box. You must plunk down another $50 for the wireless bridge for that (otherwise, just use an Ethernet cable to plug it into your router). If I had TWO of the speakers, it would be worth it.

True wireless HD Sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received one as a gift, I was so impressed I purchased another. WiFi is the cord tying together all Sonos speakers. The sound is suprisingly BIG like old school big cabinet speakers, bass is resounding Highs are Chrystal clear like a fine diamond. No other wireless system compares and even beat all but the top end speakers. The cool part is my phone, computer, laptop, and tablet can control the music. You can play different songs at the same time to different groups of speakers. Immerse yourself in movies, video games, and music. The way to listen.

Absolutely amazing!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally purchased Bose's SR1 system and the sound was fairly good, but it didn't project the sound throughout the room as I had hope. Therefore, I returned it and shipped it back to Bose. That's when I decided purchased Sonos playbar along with the wireless subwoofer to and I was quite impressed. I just purchased two Play 3 to further boost my Sonos system and I have to say that I am amazed how quick and easy it was to get it set up, (8 minutes total) and now my room is finally complete with superior sound quality for my home theater room. Best Buy employee's made it easy by suggesting what items I needed to meet my high demand for crisp and clear audio sound.

It simply Works
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This compact, stereo, all in one streaming music speaker is an extension of the Sonos music streaming system. It is an excellent choice to add to any room you desire to hear music in, and it is wireless, working seamlessly with the rest of the Sonos system. The only other thing you need is a Sonos Bridge($50.00} and your computer. It produces high quality sound and will fill a medium to small room with more than an adequate volume of sound. There are other "music streaming system" from logitech and sony or apple, but non of the work as near flawlessly as Sonos.

Great product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sonos 3 is great start as almost everyone will appreciate the good sound and easy set up ( yes it is easy if you read the directions and connectivity is good and stable ) if your Audio Junkie and if you can afford it go for the Sonos 5 Or set of Sonos 3s and use them asleft and right combo to start. If you have even more of budget a set of Sonos 5s and the Sonos sub woofer This last combo is fantastic , clear and loud system It plays so loud and clear you don't realize how loud it is until you try and have a conversation A heavy thumbs up on this product and the ability to add for a great main system or just have one every room or the yard as independent sound . You can link speakers make them play left and right or play different songs on each and have them all over the house playing different audio streams

Loved it so much, I bought another!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for a wi-fi sound system for my home, and even though I didn't know much about it, I decided to give Sonos a try. I am very happy that I did. At first I was a little put off by the fact that you have to buy the bridge unit as well as the speaker unit, but this makes the system easy to expand. I love that the system unifies all of my music -- I can listen to all of the music stored on my computer and attached hard drives (it even read my existing iTunes playlists), and it logs into my Pandora and SiriusXM accounts. It would also access my Spotify account, but you have to have a premium subscription, It also accesses online radio stations and police/fire/ems feeds with LastFM. That was a very pleasant surprise. The ability to sit in my living room and use my phone to cue up anything that I'm in the mood for with my phone has literally changed my life. Setup was pretty straightforward. The hub plugged in and set up as expected, but I ran into a hitch getting the speaker unit going -- I'm not sure the buttons on the unit work exactly the way they are supposed to. After fiddling with it for a bit, I was good to go. Once the hardware was running, it took very little effort to get the software set up on my computer, scan my large music library, link it to my Pandora and SiriusXM accounts, and download and setup apps for both my iPhone and iPad. Hardware - I didn't expect much, and I'm not the most discerning audiophile, but I think that the sound is pretty good. The speaker has enough power that I can run it in one room and listen to it in another. Software - The software is not the most intuitive. It takes a little time to grasp the conventions that are used to browse all of the music sources, but it does a good job of searching my music library, so I am happy about that. The apps are polished and work well, once you understand how the software works. Expandability - I was so happy with the system, that I went out a few weeks later and bought another speaker for my office. Because the whole system is built around the bridge, adding another unit was a snap. Each unit can run independently or play the same music, so I can create a queue of Kanye to listen to while I'm working upstairs while my wife listens to old-timey radio shows on XM downstairs. Love the system -- I highly recommend it.

Awesome pc. of equipment.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I first bought a Bose and then learned about the Sonos. I had not yet set up my new Bose so I exchanged it for a Sonos Play 5 and set it up in my study. I LOVED IT! So I then bought 2 Sonos Play 3's for my bath rm. & kitchen. They are so easy to set up and use. I have set up my favorite radio stations in my library and have all my albums on my computer and iPhone. I use my phone mostly as the controler. I would like to figure out if I can play my audio books through them. That would be the ultimate. Just haven't had time to sit down and research it. I am no computer geek. For me, this was a simple set up and is easy to use.

Great Sound Quality, Simple Setup and Easy to Use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sonos Play:3 is a relatively small and compact system for a wireless speaker. The sound quality, at least to my ears, is a step above other similarly priced speakers. If you're looking for more dynamic range or better stereo separation you use two Pay:3's to create a stereo pair and add the Sonos sub. For our use, mounted under a corner kitchen cabinet, a single Play:3 was more than enough. It's one button setup couldn't be easier and the system has worked flawlessly each and every time. The Bridge and Play:3 were my first experiences with Sonos and after a few days of use I'm a huge fan now. Currently looking to purchase another Play:3 a Play:5 and Connect:Amp for other rooms in my home.

Set-up is Tricky
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Read reviews on Sonos and decided to take the plunge. No doubt Sonos is expensive but the quality is worth it. I used a bridge to network multiple components. Set-up everything in minutes and system sounded great. Speaker stopped working and after long trial and error, discovered using my iPhone 5 as controller was the problem. The iPhone Wifi was not connecting to bridge. Read a few blogs and discovered this is a common problem that is still not fixed. I installed Controller on my Macbook and everything works fine. So recommend you keep this in mind if you plan to use iPhone to control system. Other than that, the sound is amazing for a wireless network and Sonos controller is easy to use.

Sonos = Great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love my Sonos system and my Play 3. Good sound and a great interface bringing together all my digital music sources in one solution. I can control all my music easily through my phone or tablet. The Play 3 is strong enough to fill a bedroom or a small living room. Definitely better than the Play 1.

Awesome technology
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love it! Great sound quality and super easy to set up. I currently have two of these in surround mode but I got to tinker with them outside of the 5.1 system. By itself it's a great little unit when compared to other speakers like the big jambox by jaw bone it's in a league of its own!! Paired in stereo mode these are INCREDIBLE! Range is not an issue like it is with Bluetooth speakers and sound quality is better than just about any other wireless speaker I've ever heard. It's up there with the B&W zeppelin A5. You can put two of these in stereo and add a sub for a superb music streaming system.
