Many also appreciate its straightforward setup and attractive design, although some find the price to be high. ||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Save your money and buy 2 play 1's to get good stereo sound. The only reason i gave this one star is because i have plugged my turntable into it.

DO NOT BUY IF YOU STORE MUSIC ON YOUR DEVICE
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.SONOS has a know problem of fast forwarding songs on phones if the songs are NOT part of a streaming service — i.e. you store your music.

First plunge into Sonos
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was a little hesitant since I was looking to replace a bedroom set up of a Topping TP60 amp to the Andrew Jones Pioneer bookshelf speakers that had Airplay through an Airport Express with frequent dropouts. Thrilled with the new Play 5!

Speaker is great, but customer Support is Better
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife really wanted a pair of these speakers for the house. We bought them in July of 2017. That 2.5 years ago, and they are well out of the stated warranty on BestBuy's site (1 year parts and labor) First, the speakers as a duo or even separate are AMAZING! Paired with a Sonos Beam in Surround sound... FORGET going to the movie theater! This system will blow you AWAY! The sound is perfectly balanced. I can put these anywhere in the house and they work. Setup is extremely quick and easy. Now..... there IS a well documented and known issue with the Sonos Play 5 second gen speaker. According to the internet and Sonos' own customer forums, there have been many cases where the WiFi module on the speaker fails completely. This happened on my unit just a couple of weeks ago. After an app update my surround sound stopped working completely, and I could no longer see one of my play 5 speakers in the app. I couldn't get it connected again. Then I hardwired it to the network and VIOLA!!! sound again. Now that's NOT why we dropped $500 on this amazing speaker. I called Sonos not expecting much. Their customer service representative was very patient, and EXTREMELY helpful. She walked me through everything I had already tried. Once the speaker was added back to the system via network cable she had me send a diagnostic report. What happened next took me completely by surprise. Mr. Kelly, we just received your diagnostic report and it looks like we are going to send you a new unit free of charge. WHAT !!!!! THIS WAS AMAZING! Sonos knows about this issue and instead of being dismissive to their customers, they are giving them new units even for a speaker out of warranty. I am disappointed that such a small part can fail on such an expensive product, but I am happy that it failed on a product that the manufacturer is standing behind. For this reason alone, I will be a Sonos customer for life. Thank you Sonos!!!

Great Wireless speakers
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the best sound wireless speakers I've ever heard. Extremely easy setup, smooth. When paired as stereo, it will blow you away. The stereo pair can compete with mid-tier HIFI system with ease. However, the price might be steep, it's worth.

Crisp & Clear
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought these play 5's to complete the SONOS sound system throughout my house at this time!!. This particular purchase will be used for our patio/pool area. They will also be used to compliment our previous SONOS purchases that consist of (1)--SONOS sound bar, (1)- SONOS subwoofer, (2)-SONOS play 3's, and (2)-SONOS play 1's and now the addition of the (2)-play 5's. Because of the clarity and suburb sound quality they produce they can easily be used as a stand alone system for other rooms separate throughout the house. SONOS has in my opinion easily surpassed a lot of the industry leaders when it comes to connectivity and ease of set up when pairing the speakers. If you are looking for great sounding quality built system look no further. SONOS has you covered!!!!

Still the best
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I returned a component system and got this. I have been listening to several different smart speakers but the Sonos Pay 5 is still the best. Google and Bose and getting closer but the Sonos handles the mids and high really really well even at high volume. The low-end bass is insane for a speaker this size. I actually need to find the EQ setting and lower it a bit. My second choice was the new Bose Home Speaker but the Sonos bests it and the Wave. Plus, I like Airplay...it is FAR better than compressed Bluetooth. Don't waste too much time comparing. Nothing beats this Sonos in the price range or in the smart speaker category.

Good but not perfect
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This one was an easy set up as it pretty much added itself to my other 2 pieces and it even self registered. The sound is excellent when we aren't on Facebook on our phones as that's where the Sonos app is. I have this speaker in our bedroom; my husband is on the couch in the living room watching TV and viewing FB on his phone. When he looks at a video on FB it causes the speaker to crackle and fade in and out. Additionally, it doesn't stay grouped with the Living Room set up - you have to regroup it each time you turn on the TV. We determined that isn't always bad because if you turn on the TV and someone is sleeping in the bedroom, if it were auto grouped that would be a rude awakening! Also, to change the volume of the speaker you have to ungroup it, go to that piece, set it and then regroup it. For the cost it wasn't quite what I was expecting but I like it and am glad I have it. It will come in handy at parties outside when we can run music on it separate from the TV, though it is rather heavy for moving around a lot.

Excellent Sound Quality. Easy to Set Up
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As with other Sonos product, this is extremely easy to set up. Just log on to the app, add speaker, tune with trueplay, and it's ready to go. Using this in Stereo mode (horizontal) to replace a Play1 in the same room, and the improvement in sound quality is quite dramatic. Room size is approximately 20x 40, and sound fills every corner of the room with increased clarity. Will add other Sonos components to this system.

Sonos....Go for it!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are considering Sonos, go for it! I have added Sonos to each room in my home. I have several Play 1's which are great for portability and it's small footprint. Also, I have the PLAY 5 and Sonos Connect. I was pleased with the original Play 5 and decided to add the new Play 5. Although I generally use the remote applicaiton the updated Play 5 has improved touch controls. It has a robust sound and premium feel. Overall the Sonos ecosystem is amazing. They are constantly adding the latest streaming support and it can easy find and index your music from any computer or networked device in your home. The app is intuative and does not have a large learning curve. It is great for music at meal time or when you are hosting a get-together. When you add addtional Sonos devices (after you buy your first you will invevitably want more) consider adding the Sonos Boost. It connects to your router via ethernet and creates a mesh network for the Sonos devices. No configuration and network setup, just plug it in and follow the steps in app. It can help isolate the Sonos from your other network devices which is helpful if you have a busy network with many connected devices. Sonos has excellent support as well. The Play 5 is the centerpiece in my growing Sonos family.

Big Bang For A Big Buck
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned many speakers over the years and have yet to find one that makes me smile as much as the Sonos Play:5 when it's shaking the house. Deep thundering base with a perfect balance of highs and lows. This speaker is fantastic for listening to all the music you can find with crisp clear sound even at max volume. I have 2 Sonos Play:5's and a Sonos Sub all paired together as well for my living room which is perfect for watching TV. You can literally feel explosions making it seem as if you're actually in the movie. Another great feature of the Sonos products is there intuitive app and the ability to update the speakers over wifi adding new and improved capabilities to the speakers. After buying the first Sonos Play:5 I will always get Sonos Again

Good Sound, Nice UI, but pricey
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been a squeezebox user for years and invested quite a bit in the platform. After Logitech stopped supporting the product I knew it was only a matter of time before I lost functionality. With that in mind it was time to invest in a new brand. One of my main reasons for buying SONOS is that they are long standing in the space and I believe they are the safest bet to continue supporting their products into the future. I read many reviews and went to listen to the SONOS offerings. The Play 1 seemed a little "tinny" but that was in the BB showroom. The Play3 seemed like the sweet spot in terms of value and the PLAY5 while it sounded the best seemed priced a bit high at $500. But in my research I realized there is no Bluetooth support. And some things I listen to from the internet that the sonos can't access. So I decided to add a small Bluetooth receiver to the setup in order to make it a complete solution. The problem was, only the PLAY5 supports a line in. The PLAY3 (which is what I wanted) does not have line in. So that leaves me with the PLAY5. I bought an open box online for $424. It looks brand new. The setup is a little trickier when it's been previously connected but overall it's a 20 minute exercise including the unboxing. The sound is really, really impressive. It's a quality made product, looks great and sounds great. I re-purposed an old tablet I had laying around doing nothing to be the dedicated SONOS controller. The user interface on the app is well done. Again, comparing it to squeezebox there is no comparison. It just works, and it's user friendly. I've even got my Harmony Elite controlling it when needed. In summary, if you don't need the line in I recommend the PLAY3. But the PLAY5 will not disappoint in quality and sound. The big down side is the price. I don't believe it's a good value at $500. But the reality is that they dominate the space and any money invested in another brands line may leave you high and dry in a year or two. So pay the extra money and get the SONOS.
