I bought this speaker for various uses and to demo the Sonos functionality. The sound is great and plays in stereo from a single box. The ability to control several speakers in several rooms via WiFi is a great idea. Note! If you have a few WiFi routers/or extender in the area, it can be difficult to connect via the app (get their SonosNet WiFi device for better operation). I did not like the dependency on WiFi alone and would like to see a more direct (WiFi, Bluetooth, etc) method for controlling each speaker. I was very disappointed when using this for room filling sound since it does not have enough volume before the internal limiting/compression affecting the dynamics. For the price, it's not loud enough, so I am returning it.

Owning PlayS5 speakers, I thought to add the new Play 5, but I just couldn’t get the same love going for these. They are stronger than the Play S5 (first gen) in both the high and low ranges - the bass is strong - but the midrange has a hole. If you don’t play music with a lot of mid, then they are great, but my final decision was to return them as they really sounded best WITH the Play S5 playing next to them. The two 5s (first and second gen) complement one another - but that’s some expensive speaker arrangement.

Just a reminder. These are great sounding speakers, but for surround sound you need identical speakers.
