    Love sonos

After reading hundreds of reviews on the internet about the sonos line of products, I decided to dive in head first. I bought several speakers including this one (to the tune of nearly $3,000) and have not been disappointed. Are they expensive? Absolutely. Is the sound quality on par with buying an actual receiver and real speakers? Absolutely not. As long as you are aware of this going in, I think you can be satisfied with joining the masses of sonos customers. Don't get me wrong, the sound is great. But it wasn't as good as I expected for the money. I think the sound quality is fine if you're buying individual speakers to put music in several rooms of your house. However, if you're buying these speakers to replace a true surround sound system, you'll be disappointed. What they lack in hifi sound quality though, they more than make up for in ease of access. I have instant access to more music than I could ever want at the swipe of a finger using only my iphone. This is where the high price gets its justification. Even my technophobe wife loves doing it. There is nothing like coming home and cracking open a beer on the front porch while listening to pandora. And I can do this without 5 remotes, turning on multiple amplifiers, etc. It's all right there from my iphone. I never have to get up to change a channel, or even point a remote, I can listen to radio stations in california or I can listen to my own music stored on my desktop. It;s brilliant, I'll never have studio quality sound blaring from my speakers. My simulated 5.1 surround sound will always leave a little to be desired. But we listen to more music now - and a greater variety of music now - than we ever have.To me, that has made this purchase more than worth it. In fact, I would agree with many customers that sonos is a life changing purchase. One of the better ones I've ever made, despite the high pricetag. If you're an average joe like me that enjoys tech gadgets and loves listening to music in every room of your house, you won't be disappointed. If you're an audiophile nerd who must have the clearest sound money can buy, then look elsewhere. This prodcut is not for you. For the record, I didn't listen to many other soundbars. I bought this because it interfaced with my sonos system. It sounds fine, but it's probably a little overpriced if you were evaluating it on sound quality alone.

Looked at several options from various brands and ended up with the Sonos. I am really happy with the system, the function, sound, and the respective app. We now have four units in the house and am planning on picking up the sub. The sub is a really good addition to the system. Overall very impressed and happy.

BB Consultant service recommended this sound bar/speaker system for our great room with wood flooring application. We avoided having to drill holes for wired surround sound speakers and the sound the Sonos provides is amazing. Ability to add more wireless speakers in and outside our home is a big plus.

Sonos is THE system to have for whole home music. Start with a single player (I recommend the Playbar or a Play5 to start) and add to the system room by room. The Playbar is a very nice looking (and sounding) sound bar. Easily controlled by laptop app, iPad/iPhone (android). Software frequently updated and is very capable. The cool thing is you can switch from TV to music and fill your living room with music. When you have the extra money pick up the Awesome sounding and attractive Sonos Sub and 2 Play1 speakers for surrounds and you've got a 5:1 system that sounds phenomenal playing music as well! Believe it or not the Play1's sound better than the play3's and they are small! Sonos ROCKS! Truly it does. So cool, I bought my parents one (the one I'm reviewing here) they're 78 & 80 YO and LOVE IT! Super easy to use. Automatic with TV.

Even sound -- without sub woofer

Sonos sound bar (without woofer) was chosen because of the even sound heard in the store demo material. (In the store, Playbase seemed to be overly bassy, and the competing Boze seemed uneven.) At home, the sound bar occasionally sounds too bassy, and perhaps missing some mid-lows around 120. The bassiness may be from the TV program material itself, which often has the very deep bass added (synthesized and unnatural sub-bass well below 60 hz); so it's hard to tell if the gap comes from the speaker or the program material. In reproducing pure music, I'm delighted that detail in vocals and solo instruments is dazzliing. All kinds of popular music (jazz, broadway, rock, EDM, teen, etc.) sounds amazing. The only drawback is that dense symphonic music sounds a little heavy in the midrange -- a little like you'd expect a pair of cheap bookshelf speakers to sound -- but just a little like that. I'm perfectly happy listening to most orchestral music through it.

This Playbar is fantastic. The sound is crisp and clear. Works flawlessly with the subwoofer and Play 1’s for complete 5.1 surround sound. Greatest thing, other than the power cables, the entire system is wireless. It’s pricey, but you get what you pay for. Highly recommended!

I started getting my sonos sound system together in March. I started with 2 play 1 speakers then I bought the play bar to add to my tv for the surround sound and it was the best investment I did!! I love the ez set up and best of all the sonos app to control the system!!! Oh did I mention it sounds awesome!!!!

I added this to my flat screen TV in a small vacation condo. It greatly increases the quality of the sound overall but especially allows the spoken words to be more easily understood. This sound bar is expensive, but worth the price if you are an individual that struggles to catch all the words on TV.

If you want a sound bar with excellent sound that also looks fantastic, this is the unit for you. I am not a technical guy, so I can't give you all of the techie benefits and negatives on this product, but I can tell you from a layman's perspective that this product delivers great sound and that it looks nice too. I have had it for about a month and so far it has not failed to impress me. The sound is so good paired with my Sonos sub woofer and rear surround sound speakers that it honestly feels like I am watching a movie in an actual movie theater. It also has tremendous sound power and volume if you need it. I really haven't turned the system up to 100 yet, but even at level 50 it is as loud as any movie theater and it will rock your house. It also looks great too. it is pretty small and slim and doesn't take up a lot of space and it looks very nice sitting on your entertainment cabinet under your big screen TV. It has less of a boxy look than most other sound bars and is a bit more streamlined than other soundbars. It is also very easy to set up and to use. Pretty much just plug and play. And that is coming from a guy who is not good with technology. One caution on this product is that some satellite and cable provider systems don't seem to like or play well with this unit from a remote control perspective. I had Direct TV and set up my Direct TV remote to control the Sonos Sound system and it worked initially but after a little while the DTV remote just stopped controlling the Sonos. I had to keep reprogramming the DTV remote over and over and ithe problem just kept coming back. My Geek Squad guy told me that this sometimes happens because some cable or satellite remotes only have general product programming codes for some sound or TV products and thus their remotes don't tend to pair well with those products. He suggested getting a more advanced all in one remote like a Harmony or something, but I switched providers to Comcast and so far this problem went away and the Comcast voice remote is working great with the controlling the Sonos sound system. This is a great sound bar. It is expensive, but it is great.

I purchased this PLAYBAR sound bar to replace another brand and the sound is so much better. I didn't realize what I had been missing. I paired this with a SONOS sub-woofer and the sound is amazing. Set-up was easy and my Samsung SmartRemote controls the volume perfectly.

The Sonos Playbar is absolutely fantastic. I've had it for a few months now and I love this soundbar. The ease of use is a big feature here. The setup is incredibly easy and intuitive. Just keep in mind that the Sonos app is required to set it up and use it. The sound quality is right where I would expect it to be for the price. I was looking at doing an entire home theater setup with the receiver and speakers. One big issue with that is running wires. It is near impossible to hide them with the way my space is setup and I'm not a huge fan of running wires in the wall and make speaker placement pretty much permanent. This solved all those issues. Everyone in my family has no issue operating it! I have this paired with a sub and I couldn't be happier. We are listening to significantly more music since I purchased this! I will also note that I didn't have any type of existing system so I was ready to jump in to a new "ecosystem" feet first. I'm glad I went with Sonos! If you already have a bunch of existing audio equipment that you want to keep, it may not be the best option for you. Their support is also excellent! I had some wireless interference issues and they responded quickly and their support staff knows what they are talking about which is a refreshing surprise!

This sound bar delivers nice clean sound for midrange to high frequencies. I would highly recommend coupling this with a Sonos Sub. The sound bar by itself offers good sound and is a huge upgrade from the built in speakers in my Samsung TV. However It does sound a bit muddied trying to deliver the full range of frequency. Add the Sonos Sub and you get a whole new level of clarity. The low frequencies are off loaded to the Sub freeing the Sound Bar to do what it excels at; mid to high frequencies. A bit pricey for what you get but the setup is simple and you get a nice clean wireless setup that works in concert with other Sonos products around the house.

I am building a Sonos system for the entire house, it is fantastic. It is a little pricey but love the flexibility. It is super easy to set it all up. The Playbar has great sound to it and fills the family room. I added the play one rear surrounds and the effect is great. I highly recommend Sonos.

We have had the SONOS - PLAYBAR Sound bar Wireless Speaker about three weeks. It delivers acoustics through all ranges extremely well. If you enjoy Easy Listening or Heavy Metal, it delivers as you expect. I recommend you get the Subwoofer and additional speakers, it is worth the extra bucks.

So I finally broke down and purchased the Sonos Soundbar along with the Sonos SUB. All I can say is AFREAKINMAZING!! I paired this up with 2 Sonos Play 1's for a 5.1 Wireless Surround system. This system is awesome. I've tried everything from Sony 5.1 HTIB's to separates with an AMP and 5 wired speaker and I can tell you, The Sonos 5.1 blows it all away. I'd like to say you get what you pay for, but I've paid for even more expensive systems and it didn't sound this good. One tip I have is you must use the tuning system that Sonos has in its app. If you do that it will knock your socks off. GO SONOS!!!

Sound bar was easy to set up and I use it with another Sonus product. After sound quality (superb-but I'm not an expert on this issue) my primary qualification was that each speaker in the system (soundbar and others in different rooms) could play different stations at the same time. All stations and settings are accessed using apps on my iPhone and iPad. Unfortunately, I found that many of the adjustments were not intuitive and frustration quickly set in; no written instructions were included. The web site was equally useless. I contacted tech support and am pleased to report that I was walked though the entire routine necessary to set the system up "my way." I called many times as my familiarity with the product grew. Tech support was outstounding. The number of available services (i.e. Xmradio, Pandora and trillions more) is a credit to Sonus's forward looking business model. A new user will have t o be patient during the education curve

I guess I am not really an audiophile, just like I am not a connoisseur of wine or whisky... I just know what I like. I love the Playbar. It has incredible depth and warmth and although I bought this to create a surround system with a couple of Sonos 1's for the rear speakers, it is the warmth and instrument detail when playing music that really blows my mind. I didn't go with the Sub-Woofer of the complete 5.1 Sonos kit because I live in an apartment and my neighbors would absolutely hate me, but really, I barely see the need for the sub, as the Playbar itself has such incredible depth - perhaps in a bigger room/house the sub would be a value add. I have been through a few soundbars and similar kit in recent years and yes, this is by far the most expensive one I have bought, but to quote Pulp Fiction "You'll know where the extra money went".
