Never works
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The few days this thing actually worked were great. The main problem is that it never works. Best Buy sent it back to Sony to get fixed once, and about 2 weeks later it stopped working again. It takes forever to boot up, and then I can't change the input, get to the home menu, get any TV sound... nothing. It's a giant piece of plastic on my wall. I'm done buying Sony speakers after this. Don't waste your money or time.

Doesn't seem to work
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Spent 1 1/2 hours trying to see its "set up menu." no success with that despite carefully following setup instructions . Never able to get any sound out of it, despite the fact that it was hooked up to a new Sony A1e TV. Tried calling the help number mentioned repeatedly in response to other reviews, but it was not supported at 8 PM EST. I'm done. It's going back tomorrow. Waste of my time.

Not worth it; quit working
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought a 75 inch Sony tv; added the sound bar because it was half price. After hooking up, found it just was not much different then the TV sound. Also, had to use the Spectrum cable remote as well as the sound bar remote to control. After two months, it quit working. I've shipped the unit back for repair; that cost me another twenty for a box. Not sure what I'm going to do with it when I get it back; wish I would have returned it inside the two week window.

Going Back
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Looked and sounded great in the store ... in demo mode connected to a Sony TV. The setup out of the box was easy and everything connected easily ... my DirecTv, Sony DVD, and Sharp TV. The subwoofer automatically connected. Voila ... sound came out and sounded fantastic both on DirecTv and I tested a DVD and it worked. Cut to a few hours later and I sat down to actually watch a DVD. No matter what I did I kept getting a "Press Power Protect" message that flashes across the front. I consulted the troubleshooting guide which told me to unplug it for 30 minutes and check the clearance around the openings. Still the same results. It then mentioned to reset the unit ... which you can only do when you have the unit powered on since you have to go into the setup menu to reset it. I even disconnected everything and went step-by-step according to the original directions when I first took it out of the box. Same results, "Press Power Protect". I disassembled and reassembled two more times with the same results before I promptly put it back in the box to be returned in the morning.

Sound Okay but ARC and Bravia Sync do NOT work
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this sound bar last week to go along with the Sony Bravia 65" 4k tv. I had researched the tv for quit some time, but did not do so for this sound bar. After getting it home and connecting it as per the manual, I cannot get the soundbar to Sync to the tv. Since both are Sony products and both released this year I thought they would work together. THEY DO NOT. I did a software update on both products out of the box. I connected the SOund bar to the tv using the provided cable thru the ARC HDMI ports on both the bar to the tv. I have unplugged and reset everything at least 3 times. No mater what I do, The sound bar WILL NOT sync to the tv. So when the tv turns on or off you have to turn the sound bar on or off on its own. For the price I have paid, not only is this annoying and cumbersome, it is completely ridiculous. I have contacted Sony by phone and they were 0 help. I called best Buy, and forget it. All they want to do is sell Geek Squad for $150. THis is a poorly designed product if it cant even sync with its own branded tv. . I really wish there was someone able to fix this. I have used the provided manual and online tutorials for troubleshooting. It seems reading reviews many others have this same problem. It is getting packaged and taken back, Do not buy this unit if you want to have a simple, streamlined AV system

complete junk...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this unit on June 25th and yesterday (August 22nd) it completely stopped working. I troubleshooted for about 4-5 hours last night. When I power on, it takes longer than usual. Then when the display says HDMI1, I cannot change it to another input. It does not display any video from HDMI1. I tried a different input on my tv and nothing works. I also did a factory reset on the tv and that didn’t work. If I press HOME, it displays the background of the menu but nothing else. it does not show any of the usual icons or options there, only the background. At one point, the menu was displaying but I couldn’t select anything. And unfortunately, you can't do a manual reset to factory default because that option is part of the menu options. Again, it is unable to change inputs. When I press power it takes a long time saying STAND BY and often does not complete and I have to pull the power plug. Also, when I powered down last night, the display read PLEASE WAIT....all night until this morning...and I manually unplugged the device.

Posted .Hi Johnsonjl77,
It is unfortunate to hear about this experience with your HT-NT5 unit. Although this may not be a common occurrence, we would like to give a recommendation. To factory reset your HT-NT5 without accessing the menu, please hold down “VOL –“ and “POWER” buttons on the front of the sound bar (at the same time) for 5 seconds. After holding down the buttons, the front display will read “RESET” and the sound bar will reboot. Please don’t hesitate to contact us at 800-222-7669 for further assistance. Regards, ^Ron

Superb sound; Poor design
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased the Sony 65" 4K TV and this sound bar for our family room. The TV picture and sound bar quality are excellent. HOWEVER, the sound bar's "height" blocks the remote sensor for the TV so one can't control the sound or change to internet (or other inputs) without having to "raise the remote above the sound bar" so the TV can read your commands. I would have given it 5 stars if not for this design flaw.

Posted .Hi AJLincoln!
We are glad to hear that you are enjoying the superb sound of the HT-NT5, along with your new Sony 65” 4K TV! Thank you for providing this feedback of the sound bar’s height. The HT-NT5 has a feature called “IR Repeater” that will help remedy this IR remote sensor blockage with the following steps:
- Connect the HT-NT5 to the TV via HDMI Out
- Access the Home menu by pressing “HOME” on the sound bar remote
- Select “Setup” from the top-right corner of the Home screen
- Scroll down and select “System Settings”
- Scroll to “IR-Repeater” and turn to On
If we can provide any more information or assistance please feel free to contact us at [email protected], or call 800-222-7669. Dave

Big sound small size
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was hesitate to purchase this due to the size and design but with the $200 off when I purchased my tv I was willing to give it a chance. I am glad I did. This thing sounds amazing. Great clarity and awsome low end.

Get it while you can still find them
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this unit because of the sale price. I am very happy with my purchase so far. It paired up nicely with my 900E. I don't think you could find a better unit for the sale cost.

No volume coming out from the soundbar
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have purchased the HTNT5 soundbar on 07/02/2016. I have used it happily until October 18th,2016. The volume from the sound bar is amazing. But,suddenly while watching the TV, there was no volume coming from the sound bar. Tried to troubleshoot many times. Spoke with the Sony customer support and they suggested to ship to their authorized repair store.

If the answer to this question is yes...then 5 *'s
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am just a regular guy who just purchased this sound bar unit along with a new SONY 55" television. We bought the sound bar based on what we heard and saw in the store (great TV, great sound). I am not a technical person at all, so my apologies for asking just a basic question (one I should have asked in the store) but given that everything is Bluetooth wireless nowadays, is this sound bar wireless also or do all sound bars have to be hard wired into the back of the television. I know the description says the sub woofer is wireless, but in the store, this sound bar did not appear to tethered to any television but was rather connected via blue tooth (but again, I admit, I very well may have missed the wire in all my excitement to make this purchase!!)...when having this sound bar installed, we were disappointed to have to look at a black wire connecting the sound bar to the television...I must be missing something - can you help?

Posted .Hi Gals3graces, thank you for your question. This sound bar does need to be connected to the TV via HDMI or optical cable. This is simply to ensure that you experience the highest quality audio and video quality. Regards, -Mark

Awesome soundbar from Sony
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Paired this soundbar with my Sony 65xbr930e and I love it. My tv shows, movies, and Xbox games sound much better than the onboard tv speakers. Bluetooth works great, too.

A lot of money for not a lot of sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went to buy a new sound system for my Bravia tv the salesman went straight to this product and we listened to at half level and it blew socks off but at home only blows a little wind.. I have changed settings 3 times even tried optical to no avail. Been a Sony loyal customer but very disappointed in this overpriced low audio bar. Either buy a cheaper version of bar or go and buy a 5.1 surround sound system.. sincerely, listening to everything at max volume and not happy.

Nice sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had the nt3 and upgraded due to needing new soundbar to pair with the zr5 wireless speakers I bought since Sony has not put out update that allows the nt3 to pair with the wireless speakers could be louder but overall great sound

Same issue as sadzaggfan
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can't give this a 1 star cause it worked beautiful upon initial setup but the day after upgrading my TV to the LG OLED model the audio pass through and startup/shutdown functions either lagged or didn't function at all. This is my bars first visit to Geek Squad service so we will see what happens. It didn't give any piece of mind knowing that two people that were ahead of me were bringing in their unit for the EXACT same issue. Needless to say, I'm preparing myself to having to pick out a new soundbar system.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sony NT-5 is total junk, no help from Sony tech either. Read google reviews before buying. Geek squad got it working for only 2 hours, then it crashed again
