At the time of purchase, I asked the sales person to recommend a sound bar that would work with the TV and my Tivo Bolt Vox. Based on his recommendation, I purchased a Polk sound bar. In my attempts to install the sound bar to the TV, I discovered that the sound bar was not controllable through the Tivo remote and did not have an HDMI port for an ARC connection. I returned the sound bar to Best buy and after explaining the problem asked for a recommendation for a sound bar that would work with the Samsung 7 Series and the Tivo Bolt. The sales person recommended the Sony 2.1 and said that it would definitely work with my TV and Tivo Bolt if I used a HDMI and ARC connection. After hooking up the sound bar with an HDMI cable to the ARC port on the TV, everything appeared to work fine. However, the sound bar began to turn on my TV at random times. I would turn off the TV and leave the room, only to discover that the TV would be on when I returned to the room a couple of hours later. This has been going on for a week or so and after doing everything the Tivo and Sony customer service reps recommended, the problem continues to persist. I was finally able to get a knowledgeable Samsung TV rep to acknowledge that the 7 Series TV does not work with all major brand sound bars, Sony being one of them. He recommended that I return the Sony sound bar to Best Buy and purchase a Samsung sound bar. He assured me that a Samsung sound bar would take care of the issue. Taking all of this into account, I will give Best Buy one more chance to remedy the situation. Hopefully the Samsung sound bar will take care of things. Finally, I think the Sony sound bar was about average as far as sound goes, but not in the same category as my Bose. But then I paid far less for the Sony than for the Bose. Would I recommend this sound bar to a friend? Not if you plan to connect it to a Samsung TV that is connected to a Tivo Bolt Vox.

There seems to be a very slight lag between the tv and the soundbar. I do have an HDMI connection to a Sony XBR55 and notice the lag between picture and soundbar and not sure why.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good value but not impressive I got the sound bar when it was on sale for $160 when I listenEd to the demo it sounded pretty impressive but when I got it home it didn’t perform the sub woofer is really small and I did absolutely nothing to the movie experience my friends and I couldn’t even tell when the sound bar it was on It does enhance The volume but it just sounds like you have the TV up louder and when you reach a certain point there is a weird echo effect I know this isn’t the biggest system so I want to clarify it was used in the bedroom and as I said before I just can’t recommend it
