Q: My sa-wct290 subwoofer wont turn on at all. Please advise.
A: Hi I am a repair engineer, and this is a common fault with this and other Sony sub woofers , If there is no led lit on the sub woofer front then most likely the reg ic on the amp part of the sub woofer has failed. Sony brought out a tech bulletin out for engineers about this. the repair consists of replacing faulty ic and a slight mod to the drive circuit for the ic. Take your sub woofer to a repair shop and they should have it working again in no time.
Q: Can the sound bar be attacked, using brackets, to the tv.
A: It depends on what you’re attacking it with. Honestly, I wouldn’t use anything short of an M4A1 with an underbarrel M203 granade launcher. Anything less and you run the risk of not putting it down for good. Hope that helps and good hunting!
Q: My subwoofer is not working on my Sony ct290 how do you rest it to make the Bluetooth read it
A: This happened to us the first time we connected it. The light on the front of the subwoofer should be green, this means it is connected and working. We had to make the sound bar "Bluetooth findable". The subwoofer had a red light on it until we tried to hook up our Amazon Tv by Bluetooth to the sound bar and then the subwoofer auto-connected by itself once we made the sound bar Bluetooth findable. And it auto connects every time now.I hope this helps.
Q: I have a Sony sound bar HT-CT290 that won’t turn on. Only the sub seems to turn on.
A: Hi Chris, We are sorry to hear that you're having issues with this unit. Let's try to isolate and fix the issue by following some troubleshooting steps, kindly check this link: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/articles/00032599 Thanks, Zac
Q: Can this unit be controlled (on, off, volumn) with my TV remote.
A: Once it's connected to the tv digital out, it comes on when the tv is powered on. You will still need its remote to work the volume tho. The set top box remote still only controls the tv volume and not the sound bar even though it is set to the Sony code.
A: The connection between the soundbar and the subwoofer is wireless. Listening devices can also be connected wirelessly via bluetooth. The soundbar is attached to the TV via HDMI arc or optical cable. The optical cable is included in the packaging. Sound output is rated at 300 watts.
A: Both connections will give you optimal performance. The optical port will give you the better sound quality however the HDMI will allow you to use the Bravia Sync function. With the sync you will not need to use two remotes for tv viewing, the sound bar will turn on and off with your tv and you can adjust the volume with the tv remote. You will want to keep the sound bar remote to use for Bluetooth or any other device you may want to connect. You will also need this to adjust sound settings. I have a Bravia tv as well, mine does not have an HDMI Arc in but I have it connected with the standard HDMI in port and it works great. Vastly improves the sound quality over the tv speakers.
Q: Can I add wireless speakers to my Sony SA-CT290 sound bar? If so what model speakers?
A: Hi Itsagivens, No, it doesn't support wireless speakers. You may refer to this link for more product information: https://docs.sony.com/release//SPECS/HTCT290_mksp.pdf ~Ralph
