I've always questioned if a soundbar would make much of a difference. But I can honestly say this is a big sound upgrade from the built in TV speakers! To begin, the system is very easy to set up. I have it connected to a Sony TV that is about 5 years old by way of the included optical cable. I simply plugged in the optical cable, then the sound bar & the wireless subwoofer, went into the TV setting to set the speakers to external instead of the built in speakers and we were up and rolling. Less than 5 minutes from opening the box to having it set up. I can't speak for if the system will be as easy to connect to a non-Sony TV, but as long as it has the right connections I would imagine it should be much the same. Aside from the optical connection, it is also possible to use HDMI with certain TV's. One of the great features of this soundbar is that it also has Bluetooth built in making it all that most people will ever need in their living room for a complete home entertainment system. The remote control will control the power, volume (subwoofer volume is controlled independently from the remote as well) as well as a number of sound effect settings (movie, voice, ect...). Please read the instructions carefully. There are a few somewhat hidden tricks that are explained in the instructions (hold a certain button for 5 seconds to activate a certain function and so on). The sound that it produces is wonderful! Much cleaner with better highs than the TV speakers. I haven't even really cranked it up all the way yet simply because there is no need to :-) It is plenty loud! The subwoofer could maybe stand to go a bit louder but as it is it is fine for my tastes. I love the fact that there are so few wires to run. Two power cords (bar & subwoofer) and the optical cable is all that is needed. Clean & simple. I would recommend this system for anyone (provided your TV has the proper connections). It will bring new life to an older TV's sound, and it will complement a new home entertainment system just as well.

My system worked great when it did work but the subwoofer totally failed 9 months in and it’s a known issue with Sony. Stay away

We are enjoying the Sony soundbar. It definitely sounds better than our stock TV speakers. They aren't the best and aren't the worst.

Nice setup but could use some fixing. The quality of sound is alright but sound is off. Doesn't sound like my old one based on quality.

We purchased the sound bar with the TV from Best Buy from recommendation of sales person but it sound kind of hollow when we use it.

This sound bar worked great for the first six months. Now it won't power on no matter what we try to do.

The speakers Do not go loud on regular TV. Go real loud on when i play the Fire stick or my cellphone. I ready to bring it back the store.

Purchased this sound bar as a open box item, there for had pretty low expectations figured someone returned it for a reason but It was priced low, so decided to take a chance on it, and it couldn't even live up to my low expectations, this thing sounded terrible, reminded me of those old cheap boom boxes that you'd put square D batteries in. Design wise it has a great look to it but that's about it, returned it and bought the Bose Sound touch 300.

I wish it was better especially for the price but it does fall short to many sound skips

For an entry level soundbar, it does its job. I like the wireless option. I don't like that it doesn't have a number to the sound level it's at

It’s ok for the price. I was not too impressed. Returned it and bought an LG 3.1 insted

The look is sleek Though in future I would seek the higher end unit for optimal sound in theatre setting or general music

The sub woofer while connecting easily is not very pronounced. I have a polk system which wile more expensive is also far superior.

Compact sound system by Sony. Only drawback are lip syncing not always matching up and echoing if you forget to turn off tv's volume.

The salesman pushed really hard for us to buy a Sony tv. We got an LG. He pushed really hard for a Sony sound bar. Which we bought. The quality is mediocre at best and now the sound bar has died. We maybe used the sound bar once or twice a month for movies. Poor quality. Spend extra get something better.

Only lasted 1 year before the speakers started malfunctioning.

Wrong crossover points, subwoofer has highs coming through it. Sounds terrible. Returned. 1st Sony product I've ever not liked

The Sony 2.1 Channel work like a charm for awhile. The Wireless Subwoofer stop working.

I have no complaints with this unit. I just wasn't overly impressed. For the price its a middle of the road product.

the sound was no where sounding likle it was in store, wondering if there was more speakers hooked up to display.
