I have tried multiple time to link up the speakers and no luck! Doesn't seem to wanna link the sub speaker to the sound bar. Frustrating.

Sound bar doesn’t sync with TV

This sound bar will only sync with my TV for a short time. After about 30 minutes sound and lip movements of the characters are delayed. I called a Geek Squad agent and they were no help, they only suggested a $199 technician in home appointment. Doesn’t make much sense being the sound bar only cost $199. I wish I hadn’t bought it. I Should have spent the extra money for the more expensive one and maybe I wouldn’t have the same problems. Oh well

I rarely do this for purchases but , if you like heavy bass (like me) don’t but this. No bass. At all. I paid less for a Vizio sound bar and it had substantially better sound quality.

Subwoofer went out in one week. When the system was working it sounded good but once the sub went out the experience wasn’t grand.

I was super bummed with this purchase, I bought Sony only because it matched the TV I bought. Sound is terrible, with zero base. I even read the manual (who does that anymore) to see if I could boost the base somehow, in the manual Sony admits the base only reflects the movie/show you are viewing, theres no way boost the volume over what your viewing. Then to make matters worse Best Buy refused to let me return it because it had been a month since my purchase despite the fact I had my receipt. Amazon will get my business next time.

    Bad subwoofer design

I had this sound bar and subwoofer for about a year (just as the warranty ran out) and the subwoofer just went out one day. Apparently its a design issue with one of the integrated circuits that Sony is aware of and they charge $100 for the repair kit!! Once you add the cost of actually having someone do the repair, its not worth the price. You'd be better off buying a new one (not Sony). Buyer beware.

The sound bar it self is nice but the subwoofer is a waste of space. The base is on pair with some really old headphones. Very poor quality. Pass on this for a better product

This sound bar is barely an improvement over the TV sound and a claim of "booming bass" is a major exaggeration. Had I known how little it helps, I would have saved my $.

The first thing I noticed is that the audio wasn't synced to the video. I called Sony and they told me there was no adjustment and that's just the way it is. Disappointed.

For a $280 sound bar I wouldn’t expect it to be as powerful as let’s say a definitive technology sound bar, but I would expect the sound to match when their lips move.

My intent was to use this to replace our older but similarly priced Sony surround system that was giving us a few problems. We received the item in a surprisingly large box. The package contained a subwoofer, the sound bar and a small remote. Make note that you must supply your own HDMI cord. The setup was fairly straightforward. I had never tried a sound bar before, preferring the surround sound experience, but was willing to try the sound bar to avoid all the speakers and external wiring that typically goes with that setup. My conclusion is that the sound from this soundbar is nice. It is much better than the built in tv speakers. However, if I could find another Sony theatre system for a similar price that is by far my preference. The thing that I really don't like about this system, is that I have no visuals on my tv that shows the volume or subwoofer volume adjustment. In conclusion I would save my money and put it toward a surround sound system.

I was quite impressed with the sound from this piece. Especially bearing in mind that being "slim", it's meant for tv's on a stand with low profiles, or those with space concerns for soundbar placement. It might be lost in a larger room, say over 400 sq. ft, but the power & spacious quality of the sound can make a bedroom or small den start to approach the quality of a home theater setup. For it's size, it's surprisingly hefty. The Sony build quality is evident both in its finish and weight. Given the quality of the speakers in today's tv's, I've been through a bunch of soundbars, and the only one I have still in service is a 10 year old Sony that I use on a tv with only rca outputs. You pay a premium for Sony, but they have lasting power. There are many reviews here that delve into sound specifics, but I'd like to focus on a couple of other things. The first is, if you're buying a new tv, make sure it has ARC (audio return channel), as this soundbar does. With the newer high speed HDMI cables, this simplifies setup, allows the best quality sound, and most importantly, gets rid of the highly annoying lip sync issue that plagues so much of the audio equipment sold today. The other thing is... well, let me tell you a short story first. I recently purchased a bluetooth transmitter to hook up to my vintage stereo system so I could listen to my vinyl records with bluetooth headphones. I hooked it up, and it worked great. Listened to the new 50th anniversary Sgt. Pepper's, when I finished, I noticed I had a text. It was from my neighbor (this is a private home, neighbor 50 feet and 3 walls away). The text said "Hey, if you're gonna take over my soundbar, at least play something good!" (He hates the Beatles!) Point is, I hijacked his soundbar without trying. Later, speaking to him, he described his soundbar as "dumb" - technical term I guess. To some, this might be an annoyance, to others, unnerving - Big Brother style. To avoid this, the Sony has "Secure Link" to lock the soundbar to the subwoofer to avoid this kind of intrusion. This is something I was unaware of, but now am. How would you like to finish up a movie in bed one night, only to be awoken by your phone's alarm ring blaring through your soundbar. Then again, maybe some of us need that - lol. Overall, I'm very happy with this unit, as I said, if you have a newer tv with ARC built in, this would be a good choice.
