    Lag / lip sync issues

We bought a Sony x900E tv and wanted a nice entry level soundbar. This soundbar certainly set up very easily, with no problems linking to the tv or the wireless subwoofer. And the sound is great! Thumping bass, once you figure out some of the settings. The problem? Sound and video aren't synced well, and it's not consistent at all. Sometimes the sound proceeds the video by a bit, sometimes it's the opposite. It's been bad at times...other times it's a much closer sync, but still maddening. So much so that when ever you see a human face speaking, you can't help but be incredibly annoyed at the lip sync mismatch. It's an expensive Sony TV. It's a Sony soundbar. The very reason I got the Sony soundbar is that I figured it would work well with the Sony Tv. I've seen other people with similar issues. I've tried every suggested setting change I've seen online. Hasn't mattered. There's literally no inout source, no show, no setting combination that works. I have yet to see ANY show where the sound and video are a perfect match. Disappointing, given he sound itself is so good.

I set this up in my bedroom and it works like a boss. Easy 3 step setup...pretty much plug and play. Range on the wireless sub is good, I'd say about 18 feet. Provides crisp, clear and immersing sound. This is perfect for a bedroom, office or a garage tv.

I was dragging my feet on a soundbar for some time now - and I was fortunate enough to have this delivered to my door. I ran some movies & a lot of music through this in just about a week - and it ran pretty well. It gets bassy when needed & it can be raised or lowered depending on your taste. I worked the Bluetooth part pretty well also - from a legacy Mac Pro, to a Windows10 Dell laptop & lastly, a Lubuntu machine. I didn't have any issues pairing across the 3 OSes and it was more stutter-free than my Bluetooth earbuds, so no complaints.

Purchased this sound bar for $199 it sounded better than the $500 sound bars! The set up was a breeze I hooked it up to my T.V in less than 5 mins thru bluetooth! I also connect my phone and lap top to it when i want to listen to music. Watching movies on this sound bar is amazing it is like we are at the movie theatres me and my son love it!

Has great sound overall when watching movies. But lacks bass when watching tv shows. Easy to set up. No issues with use. Just sound quality is not up to par. I think I may exchange it for the Sony HTCT800 since that's HDR and is more powerful.

The sounder is very slim and easily fits under my TV. This is great as most other sound bars iv'e owned I've had to place behind it due to its size. The setup was easy and the item looks great. Great is great for tight spaces

I think soundbars are great solutions when you dont want to nor cant have a full home theater system. My only issue which seems to be inherent on most soundbars is dialogue when watching movies. This sony soundbar does a pretty good job with dialogue but it can still be difficult to hear and I have to constantly fiddle with the volume. I thought the soundbar worked and sounded great with music and was surprise how punchy the small subwoofer was. overall i thought The soundbar was good but I would still recommend someone buy a full 5.1 system over a soundbar if they can.

If you're looking for a sound bar with a bang, this is not the one. This may be suitable for a bedroom but not for your home theater. I don't like the way it switches the preset sounds. You can't even tell the difference between the only 3 presets. I do like that you can connect via Bluetooth in order to play music through your phone. The subwoofer has a separate volume control which is good. Will I recommend? It depends. If you want to enhance the sound in your bedroom a little then yes, but like I said earlier, this is not for your home theater.

    Best in class

I just bought a new Samsung 55" TV and went looking for a soundbar to replace an older Samsung Surround sound. We rarely used it as the bass always overpowered all the other frequencies. I was looking for something that delivered excellent dialogue audio as my hearing isn't what it used to be. I went to one of the local Best Buy's because I knew they had a good demo section for sound bars. I wasn't looking to break the bank - so I was looking for something in the $150 to $200 range, but I would've gone up to $300 if something really blew me away. I first tried the Samsung 2.1 - would've been nice to match it with the TV, but I was underwhelmed. I tried about 8 different sound bars, and the Sony was the best of the bunch - only overmatched by soundbars twice it's price. A Polk Audio soundbar surprisingly came in second, and while it was $50 less, it just didn't seem to deliver the pop of the Sony. Setup was a breeze, and I'm using HDMI ARC. My only issue is that the Subwoofer has to be powered on separately from the unit. Odd. The sound I'm getting is great - I have a 12' X 18'x room, with the couch and TV sitting as far apart as they can in this room and I can hear the audio clearly. The bass isn't going to knock off the doors, but it was enough to warrant my wife coming out to tell me to turn it down. I actually appreciate that the bass isn't overpowered - it sits perfectly with what this soundbar is designed to do - upgrade your TV's audio. I also tried streaming audio from my phone via Bluetooth and it worked flawlessly. Maybe down the line I invest in a more expensive setup (The samsung Dolby ATMOS systems were superb, but costly). For right now I am a very happy customer - I can enjoy watching movies again without having to keep adjusting audio to hear the dialogue. I graded my review as an in class review - there is vastly better if you want to fork over a lot more money. If Best Buy allowed half star increments this would be a 4.5 star review because of the aforementioned issue with the sub-woofer having to be powered on separately.

    Disappointing

Purchases a Sony 70 inch TV and love it. Decided to get a matching Sony Soundbar (because I don't have the hardware to mount my old soundbar to the wall and figured I'd just match brands to make it easier). Three things that disappointed me. The sound isn't better than my $80 Vizio soundbar by a long shot. Very treble heavy with no bass. Like a glorified TV speaker. Better than the TV speaker, so it's easy to see why upgrading to this from nothing gets oohhs and ahhs. But I was immediately shocked at the lack of sound quality. Thought I had a setting wrong. Didn't. 2. To get the Sony Sync feature to work (which I decided I didn't need), it takes an extra HDMI cable to the "ARC" plug. All HDMI outlets are already full so I wouldn't get to use it if I needed it. 3. Being a DirecTv user, I could find no code for the remote for this model. Not online, not in support, not on DirecTv's site. It's like this model doesn't exist. None of the other codes I tried worked. And there is over 2000 Sony codes apparently. Bought it today. Returning tomorrow. Positive - Connecting and bluetooth were easy to hook up.

    Good Inexpensive Speaker

I purchased a 65 in TCL Roku tv on Black Friday. I got the tv set up and was unhappy with the lack of sound with the factory speakers. A friend suggested getting a sound bar so I looked and found the HT-CT290 at BB for a pretty good price and picked it up. I was skeptical having read some reviews saying they couldn't get the sound bar to work with TCL tv's. I hooked it up and there was no sound coming out I thought well I should have bought a better one, then googled the issue and found I had to turn on the ability to search for the HDMI ARC. Once I was able to get it working, I must say it is most definitely better than the stock speakers on my tv. I feel for the price point it is spot on, the sub is a bit under powered and the volume must be up over 50% for it start making any kind of bass. I would say if you can afford better, then by all means spend the money and get a better one but this one will work.

I bought this to pair with my X 850F and it works like a charm! Extremely easy to connect and play! I also connect my phone to it via Bluetooth for playing music . It can be controlled with my TV’s remote so that is a huuge convenience! I would reccomend it to my friends. Btw, i gave up on a JBL priced closed to this one because of Sony’s much superior sound quality compared to similarly priced JBL.
