My 4K Sony TV X900E and my Sony HTCT-290 soundbar have been out of sync from day one - there is an audio delay. I looked all around to try to fix it and found out that this soundbar isn't supported by the TV. Imagine that, a Sony product isn't compatible with another Sony product. On top of that, 5 months after the date of purchase my subwoofer is completely dead. Wish I had bought the protection plan. Better yet, wish I hadn't bought this thing in the first place.

Very loud, high pitched, no bass. Rough on the ears, very disappointing, I’ve had & got other Sony Bravia series products that are awesome, but not this sound bar & what they claim is a subwoofer.

Got this as a gift in July 2018 and I was enjoying it for a time. Using hdmi cable was good I believe for the short time I used it, but I have a finite number of slots to use and this wasnt a priority. Using optical cable, It falls out of sync with the picture every once in a while and needs a restart or channel switch. I get strange crackling noises or beeping like sounds sometimes. I decided to wall mount which has turned quite frustrating because both cords are on opposite ends of the bar. Do I make two holes in the wall? Rig it up to run together? It's just a bit of an extra annoyance. Sounds ok when it's not crackling making weird noises and is in sync with picture. For most this soundbar might be fine. I have grown to resent this soundbar and may replace sooner than later. If you do purchase make sure you have the open spot for hdmi.

An employee recommended this purchase when I was purchasing my home theater. It was not what I was looking for and was returned for a Yamaha home theater surround sound for almost the same price. This soundbar fades in comparison. Go with your gut!

This soundbar worked well and produced decent sound, until the subwoofer all of the sudden died. Was working fine one day, the the next day wouldn't power on and will not function at all. Now the soundbar is having connectivity issues too. Very disappointed especially i have had great experiences with other Sony products. This is one to avoid.

This system is decent vs TV speakers but if you are expecting any low end choose something else. The sub at best fills in the mids but the low end is completely non existent even with the sub maxed.

    Clear sound, NO BASS

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I'm disappointed with this soundbar, the sound is clear and with quality yes, but the lack of bass is a killer. I understand that it is a $200 soundbar, but for the same price or $30 or $50 more you can get a better one from Samsung with more setup options and also avoid the problems of the soundbar turning on your TV when you are not using it (Samsung 4K UHD 65" TV). I was surprised that the Best Buy guys were pushing to sell this item over a Samsung or other at his price range; I gave it a try for 2 days and finally took it back and got Samsung, Now I'm happy.

Bought this 1 year and 1 1/2 months ago at BestBuy. I have used it maybe 6-8 times. Subwoofer is not working any longer. Went to BestBuy and was rejected because it is older than 1 year. Poor customer service from BestBuy and embarrassing product quality for Sony.

I bought both this and the Sony XBR-49X900E TV, I was told at the store that you could run both off the rmf-tx200u remote that came with the TV. But as I tried to set it up I come to find that it does not work with that remote. It was the main reason I got it, I would have got the LG SH3K if I was told the right info. The LG was on sale but it wont be when I return this one Monday. Should really train your sales people better.

    Audio lag destroys the quality

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The sound itself is decent enough but the subwoofer is barely noticeable. Lag is the biggest issue I’ve faced. I’ve had this soundbar for less than a week and nothing I’ve done or cable I’ve switched or supposed fix I’ve found has worked. Low end bar or not, this is Sony and it’s still $200. It should work perfectly out of the box and it doesn’t. Immensely disappointed.

    Defective Subwoofer

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Sound bar worked great for 1 year and 15 days. What a surprise, out of warranty. The subwoofer just stopped working! I have read so many people saying the same thing over and over. Responses from Sony is check the power button (okay simple enough), yeah, good advice. I know there are not smart people out there but power button, come on. I am out of warranty and Sony says I am out of luck. I am never going to buy Sony electronics again. They have went down hill! Bad business ethic when they know they have a defective product and will do nothing about it. Thanks Sony!

    Not worth the money

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I wanted a good sound bar to compliment my tv. Bought this without testing it because Sony never disappoints, but I was wrong this time. Sound is a little better than tv speakers obviously but not significant to justify this purchase. Subwoofer is big for nothing, barley any response from it. My $35 Logitech computer speakers w/sub performed 10x better than this $200 soundbar. Kinda embarrassing to be honest. Unboxed and put it back within 30 minutes, looking at LG this time.

Great sound bar itself. subwoofer very weak

Sound bar itself sounds great. Subwoofer is very dissappointing. I have to put in the corner just to get a decent sound from it. The sub is very poor performing. Just bought today, and will be returning it tomorrow for something else. And that's because the guy who helped me with it said it was the best sound bar and sub compared to even some that cost 7 or 800. I knew I knew I shouldn't have. i have never heard any sony home theater system that sounded any good. I should have known when I heard a sony sound bar and sub that cost 1300 and it sounded like a 100 dollar system Definitely will be getting either the polk or samsung.

Good soung quality but just after 3 months Subwoofer stopped working . Contacted Sony CC & they asked me to send the subwoofer to United Radio(their 3rd party vendor) for repair. After 20 days got a reply that it cant be fixed & I have send the soundbar also now then only they will send a replacement. I told them first day itself that its better i send the whole set but they said No. Very bad way of handling customer complaints.
