Customers are saying

Customers are enthusiastic about the picture quality, ease of use, and the 4K capabilities of this 43" Class LED Smart TV. Many also appreciate the attractive design and find it offers great value for the price. However, some users have noted issues with the remote control and stand, while others have experienced occasional problems with the operating system. Overall, the positive feedback on picture quality and ease of use outweighs the reported minor drawbacks.

    Better than online review sites.....

Bad IPS panel black levels? Wrong. Turn down the backlight level (it's actually called brightness on these sets). I have mine turned down to 25 for moderate to dark bedroom use, and blacks are great. I downloaded the new update 2 days ago, and Android is smooth and zippy. I have also downloaded an app on my iphone called TV Sideview that is a remote for the TV, a channel guide, and mouse pad and texting type keyboard for maneuvering and typing in searches etc. NETFLIX is quick and smooth. 4K on YouTube is incredible. The speakers are good enough if you TURN OFF ClearAudio+. Don't believe the hype about Triluminous backlighting on the more expensive models..... it does not benefit 43" and 49" models as much. This TV is equipped with the new Wireless 802.ac standard, so it will stream content well with good signal.

    Fantastic Picture

Pros - Picture is fantastic. The upscaling makes even standard HD signals incredibly sharp and clear. You can’t imagine the improvement you’ll get over previous generations of displays until you see this one. - Set up is very easy--menus are intuitive and easy to follow. Only takes a couple of minutes - Has all of the ports you should need for connections - Amazingly light--weighs less than half of the 37” flat panel it’s replacing. Cons - Sony demands you let them collect and maintain records on EVERYTHING you watch on the TV--broadcast, cable, NetFlix. I strongly resent paying for a piece of hardware that contains such a privacy requirement. I disabled this feature by rejecting the Sony privacy statement but also lost almost all of the smart TV functions by doing so. I have an Apple TV I hooked up to establish internet connectivity, but am not willing to accept a third party collecting data on everything I watch for their own business purposes. - As stated above, out of the box the TV required a software upload that took the better part of an hour to accomplish. - It would have been nice if Sony somewhere indicated the code for the remote so I could sync the TV to the single remote I use for my TV/Surround sound with DVD player/cable box. I found out that one of the Sony default codes--0000--worked but it would have been easier if I didn’t have to find the code myself.

I was told about this TV before it debuted while I was looking at a competitors model. My budget was under $1k and was told this one was going to be a bit above that ($1300) but well worth the extra pay. The associates showed me the features on a 55" model and I was stunned at the difference. The next week when it arrived in stores at $800 I had to jump o it at that price! I would say it does have a few cons, but most are really annoyances rather than negative aspects of the TV itself. Pros- gaming, netflix, everything looks great and upconverted it actually takes up less space than the 40" model I replaced ports for just about every interface Cons- No clear description of all the settings. It took me 4 days of plowing through technobabble to Google and understand the settings so I would know what I was adjusting to get them fine tuned to my liking. It seems a few more pages to the manual would have cleared this up. Like most newer TVs the speakers are not great. it seems all manufacturers want or expect you to buy an external sound system The remote control is horrible. the up/down/left/right arrows are in a center ring around another function ring, so when browsing I always find myself inadvertently hitting the discover or action menu buttons because of this poor layout. The remote also lacks almost required function buttons such as sleep timers or automatic input switching. instead you have to navigate through the clunky interface. Overall the TV goes above and beyond in terms of performance, however the ride to that destination (The TV's interface menu) makes it a bumpy ride.

Bought on recommendation of Best Buy staff to replace cable and watch using HiDef antenna and on demand programming. Well, come to find out the Bravia has issue with antenna's synch up and programming. 12 year old Trinatron worked better.

This was our 1st 4K tv, we are very pleased with the picture. But when we put the volume up the sound sounds muffled and it has like a very sharp pitch when there's speaking but only when the volume is increased. We hate to return tv as we love the picture and size. I called Best Buy and they said to just return is there any other suggestions? I have tried to tweet the audio to see if I could help it with no result. Please help, thx.!

    GREAT AS MONITOR...SUPER AS TV

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have not complaints, so far, about this television. I initially purchased it for use as a computer monitor. If you have a 4k video card, the quality of the image/text as a monitor is really great - has 4:4:4 chroma capability and you can find instructions on how to turn these options on...not that difficult, but in a different set-up area. Now, for the real treat. As a 4k television and as an upscaling television, this TV is fantastic. I will be honest, since most television watching is certainly 720P-1080P, the upscaling power of this television is very important to me. I have a Samsung JS8500, and, while the 4K on that TV is great, the upscaling "sucks". I have been really disappointed with that feature. The SONY 830C kicks butt when it comes to its upscaling. The 4K even looks better than my Samsung TV. And, "yes" I have tweaked both TV's to my liking. The SONY is just better than the Samsung in my opinion. I will say that I think that the 850C produces a better 4K image, and, in the future, that will be my next purchase. I saw the 830C and the 850C side by side at by Best Buy and you could tell a difference while watch the very same picture. I think that the additional features inside of the 850C improve the picture quality enough to justify the purchase...but that's for the future. For now, I am thrilled with the 830C and I think any one else would be, as well. Don't hesitate to buy the 830C. Roger

This tv has a fantastic picture, despite what the rtngs website would lead you to believe. This replaced a Vizio M43-C1 that I returned, and I find the Sony's picture much better. I couldn't be happier about it. The apps have functioned flawlessly. I only use a few, though, so I haven't exhausted them. If you're looking for a tv that size or price point, then give this tv a look.

This tv is amazing. First of all the design looks classy. Thin matte black real metal frame surrounds the tv which gives it a high-end look. Includes a heavy chrome metal stand as well. None of the cheesy plastic that most tv's have. The most important aspect of this set is its picture quality. Sony knows how to produce crisp, bright picture with razor sharp clarity. The Android interface is a nice bonus and I think it's laid out better-easier to use than the Samsung smart tv interface. If you are in the market for a smaller living room or bedroom tv, spend the extra money and get the Sony. May not be the cheapest set on the market in this size range but you are truly getting a very high end set with this model. LG, Vizio, & Sharp do not even come close to this set when you compare them.

Set up and installation was easy! Picture is amazing. The only tiny drawback is the remote. I expected a back lit remote but sadly it comes with a remote from the 90s. I can't sync to turn on the set with the cable remote, though all other functions, volume, channel change, turn off, work with the cable remote. Just unable to turn on. I actually have to walk over to the set an turn it on.

This thing has it all. Beautiful picture quality and features. The only thing I noticed is directv. It does a good job at upscaling it, but to get true 4k directv you have to get their 4k equipment. It does a good job at upscaling it though. Either way it is a great purchase and definitely worth it. This tv blows me away on my ps4. I hear a lot of complaints about the speakers. They sound great to me. I'm happy with my purchase. Great TV value for the price. Thanks know you sony and best buy.

    Good but Buggy

The screen is great, nice to have 4k on smaller TV. The TV seems to have a few regular bugs despite upgrading regularly. The unit drops the wireless signal several times a month, it's the only device in our house that we have this problem with so seems like the TV vs. internet issues. Sony please fix this! The Netflix App also signs you out intermittently. Re logging in gets old, my LG never does this. The remote is fine but cheap, not lighted. Overall a great picture but a smRt TV losing internet connections and constant,y signing up you out of apps is unacceptable. Would be careful buying until fixed.

The picture is beyond amazing. As good as being there. Had the Geek squad install and that was a good choice for tech-challenged me. A very happy purchase. I added a SONY CT370 soundbar for great sound. This is an excellent choice for installing in a smaller room.

I've owned a Sony before so decided to upgrade to a smart TV of the same brand. The quality of the picture is great but speakers are average and I use external speakers to get better sound quality. The android apps are a big disappointment especially netflix. The app forces me to input my password intermittently and occasionally stops working altogether. Tried getting help from Netflix CS who say they know about the issue but no resolution so far. I'm now thinking of getting an external media player like roku. It doesn't make sense to pay premium for a smart TV and then pay some more because it doesn't work as expected. I took off 2 stars simply because of my poor experience with the netflix app.
