I've had Sony TV's. This by far is the best. Even compared to the other brand names I looked at. I set it up and it was very easy. All my components and Internet was so simple to hook up. The sound and picture quality is awesome. Very user friendly when using the apps. Very happy.

    TV NEEDS BREAKING INTO

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I decided to submit a review to find a balance from the other reviews. First off, this TV needs to be used extensively to eliminate the numerous glitches, for example, unresponsive remote and frozen screen during user Interaction among others. I find it helpful to unplug power cord and sometimes resetting TV using 1-2-3 initial setup to get the bugs out. Downloading the sideview app on my iPad allows me to learn about this Android TV. AS FOR THE PICTURE QUALITY; Sometimes specs and numbers are merely that. SPECS AND NUMBERS. Picture quality is what I expected. As for the price, you get what you pay for even while hoping for a lot more. This is a small screen 4K Smart TV From Sony. There are no problems , merely higher expectations that of a 65 inch 4K with Triluminous Display processing costing much more like those on showroom display illuminated with USB content with 4K video. That TV we wish for is another paycheck more. Or maybe adding a 7.1 Sony sound bar. What to do? I would recommend this TV with reservations. As a personal bedroom TV or perhaps computer display. Someone else needs to get into that, I only have an iPad. My Apple TV is connected to this TV. Connectivity is seamless with ample connections. I need to remind anyone who might use this review In determining whether to purchase this specific TV or that of another size and brand. We basically can get something better but at what price. I gave this 5 stars to balance out the overall scoring average. Full disclosure: I initially purchased the Vizio 50 inch P Series 4K from Costco for basically the same price before manufacturers rebate but had to return it due to remote control interference with my air conditioner. If not for that problem, that TV, I would have kept. It has backlighting unlike the Sonys' edge lighting. It makes a difference. Backlighting is better. Although the Vizio has 240 hz, this Sony @120hz is equal if not better in motion clarity. This Sony has better audio recognition with my LG sound bar. The Vizio beeped while changing channels if not set to PCM. The Sony needs firmware update for NETFLIX and additional apps. I called Sony support to confirm update soon. Although my APPLE TV has Netflix it would be nice to use the dedicated Netflix button on my Sony remote. For anyone considering the SHARP 43 4K it does not have AMAZON INSTANT VIDEO. I submitted a question and SHARP responded. Sony has AMAZON INSTANT VIDEO without a dedicated button on remote. Another plus if you have a SONY PLAY STATION dual shock control. TV allows for connection with the control for use with downloaded games. I am not into gaming but I might buy one to try. There's a lot to do with this TV if one wants to. Try it, you can always return it.

WE had to do two factory resets on a new tv in less than a month. Plus you have to close the drapes in the room AND adjoining room not to see reflections. We are disappointed but too old to lug it back to the store

    Great 4k monitor/tv

I bought this to function both as a second computer monitor for my Mac and a television. Couldn't be more pleased. I tried a Samsung first, just to save some money, and it worked well as a monitor. The colors and sharpness were good, though not as good as Sony. But the motion blur when converting HD television to 4k was terrible. Most 4K tv's make a great computer monitor, and they do well with the small amount of 4k you can find; the problem for most is how the up-convert regular HD content. That's where the Sony excels.

    Great for cable cutters

Having Android TV seamlessly integrated as the default interface is great for cable cutters. It makes apps and streaming front and center and having it integrated into the TV means I can switch between apps and external inputs seamlessly. With the SlingTV app, it feels just like channel surfing now. I'm finally impressed with a TV's integrated software. Nice job Sony. Hardware-wise, this is a perfectly fine TV. The first one I got had really bad light bleed on the bottom edge. Best Buy replaced it, no questions asked, which was really great customer service. The second one has no such problems and the picture is good, but not particularly great. It can be a little reflective so you'll need to control the lighting in the room. This TV's replacing a 10 year old Sony XBR LCD, one of the first 1080p screens, and overall, I'm impressed with this unit.

Best picture quality and smart TV operating system

Just want to comment about some of the reviews giving this TV a bad review because of missing Netflix... People, you buy a TV to keep it for 5 - 7 years. Why are you saying a TV is terrible because its missing an app that will be out any day on your JUST RELEASED TV with the BRAND New Android OS. The funniest part about these complaints is this TV has built in Chromecast support so while you are waiting a couple more days for the TV Netflix app just CAST IT FROM YOUR SMARTPHONE! This TV is awesome and all the major apps are on their way. One of the only TVs with built in Chromecast and a full operating system! It is better than any smart TV out there. Samsung included.

The picture is noticeabley cleaner and clearer with up-scaled and converted HD programming. This is due to the new 4K Processor X1 engine incorporated into the X830C series. It has the same processor as the top of the line X950C series model as well. Despite the lack of the Triluminous technology, colors on the X830C are very realistic and have plenty of punch.

    Excellent Value 4k

The picture quality is excellent, crisp, clear and sharp. The value is extraordinary too, if you can get it at 999.99. It works right out of the box and is pretty simple to setup. The Smart TV features are severely lacking though. There is no web browser, there are only apps, and the apps are very limiting. The Smart features are significantly worse than LG and Samsung. The picture is great though, and if not for the Smart features lacking, the review would've been a 5/5

Great picture quality and easy menu operation

I just bought this television two days ago. I took back two other brands, because of the poor picture. I was told that Sony would not disappoint and so far I agree. It was easy to learn the menu and tweak the settings. The picture is clear up close and no distortion. It is not washed out at an angle. I don't use the smart features, so I can't comment on that part. I have my TV hooked to a sound receiver which is the best. I would not purchase any other brand. The stand is very stable and no wobbling issues. If your looking for this size, look no further. Buy this TV. I have no cons yet.

This T.V. was actually a replacement for a Samsung gone bad for the second time. Upon receiving a email from the Geek Squad to replace the Samsung. I made a trip to Best Buy to make a selection for a replacement. Wanting to update to 4k and change to a Sony I was told the Sony and Samsung were the top 2 brands that actually had browser's. Having this TV several months now and loving it except to find out it actually had no browser. O well I can live without it :) While I am one of those guys who have cut the cable so to speak. I enjoy the best picture quality watching Netflix I have ever seen. The TV can take a 20 year old + movie and make it look awesome :)

    Bought Geek Squad "Certified"

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Purchased this "certified" TV from Best Buy in Wheaton, MD. The TV still had the old owner's personal information on the smart TV (name, email, account information with Sony, etc...). That is, the TV was not reset to factory settings and all paid accounts (Netflix, Amazon, etc..) were all open and available for use. I'm shocked that the Geek Squad didn't even reset the factory settings. Moreover, the wifi drops a lot which is very annoying. The reflective screen reflects light so you want to use this TV in rooms without a lot of windows. The picture itself is outstanding and the speakers are awesome compared to other TVs at this price point. I have this hooked up to a ZVOX sound bar, but could really get away without using an external speaker. The processor is very fast compared to other TVs at this price point and scrolling through the menus is quick. I don't notice the light bleed around the corners like other reviewers mention. This is an entry level 4K TV and for under $600 it's a winner. I would not pay much more as the 2016 models have more smart features.

Sharp picture quality and good TV for the price. Android TV function works great. Youtube and Google Music integrated seamless with the main home screen. BE AWARE: When the TV was first turned on and my Google login info was entered, there was an update that needed to be installed. This takes close to an hour to download and install. I would just let this run and go about your business and come back when it finished in about an hour.

I was always a fan of Sony as a whole brand, I was looking for a 49 inches size 4K TV, I had purchase my TV a week ago, the setup was a breeze starting with the stand setup and ending with the system update. The quality of the picture & sound are excellent, I tried 4k videos and they are blowing my mind, they are totally real picture clear and the sound is fantastic, the Wi Fi setup was done in 20 seconds. This smart TV is the real deal, I am very happy with my Sony TV, I purchased it for $799. I will recommend to purchase it with the extended warranty, it is worth it!!!!!

When I got the 49X830C the picture was less than I had expected but found out that the cable box setting was set on multiple hdmi settings and was causing picture clarity issues. I set it to only one hdmi 1080i setting and the picture became perfectly beautiful. Also if using a AV receiver for make sure hdmi is set properly in the receiver settings. The design and quality of this Sony is top notch especially at this price point. Glad I stayed with Sony.
