Great TV, poor credit card approval process

Applied at store for CitiBank credit card to get 10% discount on my new set. They didn't approve my application and denied me getting $100 off the new set because my Amex card and my work cell were insufficient proof for my ID. Yet Best Buy didn't have an issue with my using the Amex card to spend $1000 to purchase their set. Really bad process and quite unfair and untimely costly to me.
