This lends is a great senconday lense. It worked amazing at the zoo with my family and provides tons of detail.

purchased other digital camera and lens from Nikon. Although it is very good, and correspondingly costly. However as an amateur photographer, most of time do not need a great camera which is so heavy to carry. The Sony with a good tele lens is enough to maneuver the photo image effect, recommend to travelers.

Just can't stop taking pictures with this lens using Aperture 1.8 2 to 3 feet away beautiful pictures happen. The blur affect in the back ground brings out your subject beautifully.

One of three lenses needed for the NEX-7 in my opinion. The other two being the 18-55mm and the 16mm wide f2.8 along with the ultra-wide and fish-eye attachments.

The Sony 55–210mm f/4.5–6.3 is a great telephoto zoom lens for the price, especially if you’re looking to add extra reach to your Sony APS-C setup without spending a lot. Image quality is very good for a lens in this price range. I have the Sony Nex-3 and wanted to get a zoom lens, I was debating between lens adapter with a longer zoom lens and this lens which I ended up buying and keeping. The feel of this lens on the camera is just right, it has a nice rubber grip with manuel focus opt. and aluminum construction which makes it very light. I took the lens for a test drive on my Alaska Cruise vacation and ended up with some nice pics, I did also use a Rocket Fish P.Filter and UV.Filter to prevent any glare on my pics and to protect it from getting scratched. The video recording with the lens was good too. Over all I think this lens is a great addition to the camera but I would of liked a longer zoom though I shouldn't complaint since there's no adapter required for added cost. I'll leave 2 pics to show 55mm zoom and max zoom 210mm.

This is a great addition for someone who has a NEX camera with the 18-55 mm kit lens. It is small and light enough to be used single handed with the camera if necessary. Images are incredibly sharp, even indoors, low light without flash. Maximum aperture at extreme telephoto range is very high which limits depth of field control. Best use would be sports, action, nature photography in daylight conditions. Built-in stabilization and high effective ASA allows great photos even at maximum telephoto range since any lens movement is magnified. Construction appears to be mainly plastic, but that probably helps keep it light. Lens is expensive compared to other brands, but works extremely well with the NEX cameras.

I have had many different Sony NEX, Axxxx, and A7x models over the last 4 years and keep buying, selling, regretting, and re-buying this lens. I think I'm on my 3rd copy now. It's just a good one to keep around. No, it's not as sharp or versatile as the original 18-200, the FE24-240 blows it away (obviously made for full frame, so a different beast), and a prime like the 50 f1.8 (SEL50F18) will give better results, but if you want a telephoto zoom to add to the kit zoom that came with the camera, this is a great place to start. Especially if you can get it as part of a kit deal, or purchase separately as an open box or find it used, this one is great. I would not pay retail for it, but they've been around awhile, there are many on the market already. It's light, small (for the focal length), and has great glass for the price. Sure, it's going to hunt in low light and is not professional quality, but you would probably not be reading a review of this lens if you needed that. For outdoor bright light sports, I love this lens and my a6000, it's so light and AF is fast. I think I could use it all day and not get tired. Same camera with the FE70-200 and my back is going to ache after an hour.
