It does focus closer and does take nice pictures. For the price of the lens I was hoping to get a closer view but it works for what we could afford.

The lens is a huge upgrade from the 28-60mm. The optical steady shot works well as also. Have not had any issues with focus or latency with this lens. The body is aluminum and the sun shield is plastic the lens feels sturdy and attaches securely. Can’t beat it for the price. This is not a macro lens it’s focus range begins at about 4ft

Unfortunately that lens costs way to much! I just have to use what I can afford.

Decent lens

Sony charges a lot for their lenses and they are typically slower than other comparable lenses. But it is the most affordable zoomer lens they make so it is necessary.
