Beautiful tv but awful connectivity issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This tv far exceeded my expectations in terms of picture quality. The colors are vivid and beautiful and was a noticeable difference from my previous Samsung HDTV. I still own the previous Samsung HDTV and the upscaling on this tv is definitely noticeable both with cable Apple TV and blue ray systems. My biggest compliant is the connectivity issues through the wireless network. Everyone my tv is turned off it disconnects from my wireless network thus forcing me to resign in every time I use Netflix app or Hulu app. Then interface of these apps is quite nice compared to Apple TV but I had so many issues upon installation of the Hulu app on this Sony tv. Netflix came preinstalled and had no problems signing on except for when tv dropped the wireless network. Hulu on the other hand was a huge mess. I had to speak with a Sony representative on two different occasions to resolve the issue and each time he couldn't give me an exact reason to the problem at hand. It was a complete nightmare having to restart system with them and reset all the settings all over again. I must have done this at least ten times and the problem never really was resolved just doesn't occur quite as frequent. Overall great tv but awful connectivity with apps which makes it a real bust at times to deal with. I mean if you don't mind having to reset password every time tv is turned on then this shouldn't be an issue. The sound isn't all that great compared to my old Samsung HDTV but it is loud enough without needing s sound bar.

Great picture quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product was the perfect size and brightness for our small living room area. The clarity and resolution was much better than the equivalent LG and Samsung models in the same class. Product has a very thin profile and the features are straight forward and intuitive. Definitely recommend.

Very good TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was easy to setup and the picture is great. I returned the LG 7700 and got this instead and am very glad. The smart interface is easy to use and the setup was a snap. The picture is fantastic. Only negative would be the remote control; Sony changed the buttons on this from the last model and I find myself pressing the wrong button a little too easily. I don't know what they were thinking here, the old remotes were great.

Beautiful Picture
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After having my 42' Vizio for 6 or so years, I decided it was time for a new television. I was going to just go with Vizio again but decided to research what was available. I was torn between Sony and Samsung so I went to Best Buy to get a look at both. The picture on the Sony blew away the Samsung. The colors and picture clarity were amazing. I took home my new tv! I love the stand on this tv as well. After turning on the tv and running the software update, I was up and running. The picture out of the box is great and is perfect for my viewing. There are other picture choices like vivid and gaming but I chose to stay with Standard. This is a great television that has many great features for an affordable cost. You couldn't go wrong with this set. I haven't used the apps yet excepting for casting YouTube from my phone and that worked well. Love my new Sony!

Very Nice Picture and features; Minor setup issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Initial impressions: Pros: * Intuitive initial setup. * Netflix and Amazon Video - easy setup * Detected and connected to Sony receiver without any configuration * Very nice picture - I spent an hour switching between 4K content on Netflix. (Waterfalls, Flowers, Fireplace - very good representation of the wonders of 4K) Bonus discovery: * Directv RVU integration (Wired network connection required) Cons: * Wired ethernet connection flaky initially. It took me a bit to figure out the right combination: 1. Unplug ethernet cable 2. Unplug Power to TV 3. Plug in Ethernet cable 4. Plug in power to TV 5. Re-run Network setup Other notes: * An update to the TV was needed out of the box. * The Android version shows as 5.1.1 (Lollipop - Same version as my Verizon Galaxy Note 5). * Watched Star Wars Episode 7 on Amazon Video. Outstanding video experience. * The wired network connection issue prevented me from giving this TV a 5 star rating from the beginning. Again, this is an initial review. Still getting to know all of the features... So far, so good. Recommended.

Easy Setup Great Picture Top Notch Hardware
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love my new 55" Sony LED 4K UHD HDR TV. Light weight, Great Picture! I hate the remote control, it's low end, weak and I recommend going back to Best Buy and purchase an aftermarket Remote. You'll be much happier. Upscaler works quickly with a variety of content. I do recommend a fast internet connection which is my only content problem at this time. AT&T Uverse in my area doesn't represent speedy connections needed for streaming the large data required. However, in a world of less than high tech affordability, the SONY 850D turns slow connections into the best picture I've seen. Hat's off to SONY for this one.

Great TV with Great SOUND
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, I was expecting the sound to be awful because my last TV was a thicker Panasonic plasma, and sales people tried to tell me the sound has only gotten worse in recent years as TVs have gotten thinner. WRONG. The native sound is fantastic. Plenty of volume and good sound. If you want loud thundering bass and piercing highs, you obviously will need an external speaker system. But if you just need good quality sound, there is no shortage of volume, and the tonal qualities are almost as good as the visual clarity. As for the video, it is stunning. Even basic 780p feeds (like news channels) are really nice and clear, but tap into an Amazon Prime UHD 4k feed and it's AWESOME. I know there are currently TVs in the $3000, 4000, 5000, and up range, but this $1299 (currently) TV is as close to perfect as I ever could have imagined a TV to be. The Internet connectivity options are awesome too but I know it will take me awhile to figure out exactly how to use the various features. The remote is good quality but I want to use my PC or phone more if I can to control it.

Excellent Choice
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently purchased this television. I am very happy with it. The ease of setting it up was much easier than other brand of smart tv's. The picture quality is amazing. Rather the content is in 1080 or 4K, the image beats all other non-OLED televisions. The refresh rate is high and there is no blurring when watching fast pace sports. Make sure you have appropriate 4K comparable HDMI cables to get the best image.

No Regrets
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After several months of research I knew I wanted a Sony. Once in the store, I decided on this 4K model over the X810 and X900. I love the Triluminos display. Looked as good if not better at home as well. This is a great TV with a beautiful picture right out of the box. The sales associates (and even the other mfg rep) agreed and thought that Sony has a better TV right now. The colors on this TV are simply outstanding. I also like the technology Sony uses to handle motion blur. I am not a fan of Samsung and am glad I saw them both in person before making a purchase. The Android interface as well as the included applications are all excellent. The microphone on the remote also comes in handy and works well. FWIW I didn't have an issue with the black levels as some others have suggested.

Great TV for the money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great TV for the money, in my opinion it has the quality of the XBR9XX series at a great price point. The upscaling lets 1080p cable broadcasts and other content look much better on the new Sony compared to the display on my old 40 inch LED. It weighs less than 35 pounds without stand so it does not take a construction crew to mount it on the wall. The colors, contrast, and blacks look vibrant and deep to my eye and the TV displays great in my living room. High speed action is stable without blur on this TV as well; sports viewing is a pleasure. I am very happy with this purchase, and my wallet thanks you.

Great TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great TV. I have had it 7 years at this point. I did buy the 5 year protection plan and it really paid off as I had an issue with the screen after a few years and they fully replaced the TV for me. I am no tech junkie but the quality of picture has been great, no complains on the TV aside from Sony getting rid of the swipe remotes

fantastic upscaling of non 4k sources
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My research, personal experience, and budget led me to my decision to purchase this unit. It is very easy to get bogged down on many of these professional reviews which you must take with a grain of salt in real life applications. The biggest strengths of this tv in my personal experience are 4k upscaling of 1080 broadcast tv, 1080p to 4k upscaling of sling tv, and watching sports, and gaming. The television has a simple set up process and allows the ability to choose frequency for dual band routers which is simple and awesome. I have a 100 mb charter internet feed and streaming in 4k is awesome. Every piece of electronics has there little operational quirks but I find the google operating platform to work well. I narrowed my choices to the samsung 8000 series and this sony set. Since I own a lower tier samsung 4k curved tv in another room I already know how there smart platform works and how there lower tier sets process fast motion video; which is not well and sporting events look unnatural. I personally much prefer the smart platform of the Sony; even in the higher series of each manufacturer. I was able to score an open box and purchase a 5 year protection plan and get out the door for 1,124.38. This tv at retail in my opinion is still a best buy. I can't stress enough how well this tv upscales non native 4k content which is most likely 90% of what we watch. Also if you like to watch your videos off your cell phone and view your photos in crazy high quality this tv delivers the goods. Oled is certainly better but this is 90% of the quality at 50% of price that does virtually everything well. Also if you have the money to purchase an oled set you almost have to purchase the extended warranty to protect your investment and this leads to almost 3k after tax and warranty for 55" equivalent. If money was no issue I would buy the oled but unfortunately it is for me and the Sony is an excellent performer for your hard earned money. Also in all consumer electronics there is a small % of electronics that will be defective; in lieu of this fact purchase the extended warranty or don't write some stupid review after the fact trashing the product you bought. Best Buys return policy is great if there is in fact an issue and not having to deal with someone in a foreign country if you opt for standard manufacturer warranty.
