Sony's Poor Customer Service
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this product April 2nd 2016 from Best Buy. The product worked fine for the first 90 days but the beginning of the 4th month it would not power up. The unit was connected to a surge protector with other equipment which all were working fine so I feel pretty confident there were no outside influences which shut the unit down. I contacted customer service who claimed to have run a diagnostic thru the internet. I questioned that but I wanted to be reasonable when they suggested they would send out a new power cord and if that did not work they would send out a technician; I agreed. The new power cord arrived and that did nothing. I contacted Sony once again and once again they claimed to have run a diagnostic thru the internet and claimed it was a bad main board which would take time to order for the local technician. Again I questioned how can you actually run a diagnostic when the unit is not powering up? Again they responded it was something they had run thru there computer. The technician took 10 days to arrive and discovered it is a bad power board. Of course he did not have that part and referred us back to the same people who claimed they had run a diagnostic and it was the main board. Once again we contacted Sony and expressed our frustration that we paid $1,700 for a television that was only 3 months old that did not work. They said after much conversation that they would process an order for a new television but we really had to twist their arm. Here we are 4 weeks after the brand new Ultra High definition top of the line Sony television broke down and we first contacted them about a repair and it still remains broken. We contacted them about why the new television had not arrived or why we had not been contacted and the excuse for this not being resolved is "their system was down" so they had just put in the order. A broken unit is not what we paid for. Getting the run around by customer service is not good customer service and not the reputation we were buying into when we purchased the unit. The TV breaking down within 90 days of purchase may not be the norm but I can tell you from the 4 different times we interacted with customer service there is no concern for the customer or inconvenience caused when Sonys product does not meet even the lowest standard of performance. This may be a good TV but I won't do business with a company that will not stand behind its product and I don't recommend you do either.

Excellent picture, easy to set up
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One issue is using TV sound and Wireless headphones at the same time. Using Audio Out on TV turns off TV speakers. Problem solved by plugging RCA Cables into Cable Box Audio Out for Cable TV and ROKU box Audio Out for Netflix, and then using a splitter before Headphone Station. Not ideal but a work around.

THE best tv, especially for the price.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sony "the one and only". The best tv, especially for the price. The HDR aspect is a viewing experience changer. When my 85 y/o father in law sat in front of the tv for the first time and said " they look so real", ya, you know it is a changer. He doesn't know it is a different tv.

It's Fine. (Emphasis intended)
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We first bought the C series of this TV, but returned it because of the screen corner white bleed. This D series, which now carries an upgraded picture for HDR, and is backlit better/more uniformly, fortunately doesn't have that white-bleed problem, but I couldn't help notice that the picture was actually less vibrant and less hi-res, than the C series (judged by Netflix 4K stream of a nature video). The base is much sturdier, fortunately. The center wide-base table top stand is much nicer than the C, but c'com, Sony, why would you sell a black bezel TV with a silver stand? The stand should be black, and if you're going to package it with silver, you should give customers the option to purchase a black stand. (The silver stand is more reflective of screen light at night, so it's distracting. I'm thinking of painting it black, even if it looks ratchet).

Liking with some reservations
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A number of things sold me on this product, the fact that it is the size I needed at 55", has at least a 120hz refresh rate (hard to find at this screen size), better upscale enhancement technology, and the apps that Android TV has to offer and very thin TV thickness. Was also convince that there was less light bleed compared to older models. So far, most has gone as expected, with a couple of concerns: I still see light bleed when the screen is fully black, prior to a operating system update, there was an issue with the remote control and suddenly the video quality went completely wacky. After I allowed the TV to do it's update, both issues seem to be resolved, but - will this ever happen again? Did I get a bad unit? If I could be assured the issues were temporary for a one time issue, I would change my recommendation.

Worst TV ever
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this TV since the picture was really good at the store display. The quality of the image is really good, but the software is Android based, worst idea ever. Since I bought the TV I have called the Sony service center almost every 2 weeks, for some reason the TV is not able to connect to the wifi. Every single time they asked me to rebooted, this is so annoying due to I need to download again any single AAP. Have 2 more TVs (Samsung and LG), and always work with no problems. Bad decision to switch over Sony for my newest TV.

black levels are awful in a dark room
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.if you are like me and work all day and then come at nigh and watch a movie with all the lights close then this tv is not for you. it for sure gives you amazing colors and everything in a well lit room but when you turn off the light and your room becomes dark then the black levels just suck. it tries to give good black color but because of that it misses the details in the shadow . for a well lit room and a well lit scene i can stop saying good things about this tv but when you close all the lights and there is a scene in the dark. your eyes will bleed . exchanged for the samsung KS9000 . will be arriving tomorrow hopefully

Decent Picture, lots of glitches. Not worth the $
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, decent picture, but tons of glitches. Problems with the picture include minor light bleeding at the bottom (even though the SA said this model resolved the issue). MAJOR problem with the SOUND. Periodically, when switching from the Home screen (the screen that contains the apps on wifi) to a different input (cable tv), the sound shuts off. The sound will continue to work on the apps, but not the cable. Cable repair person said this is common with this TV, and to do a hard reset of the TV. That works. Very annoying to do. Other problems include periodic app failure.

Lousy computer chip
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great picture. TV frequently locks up--cannot change channels. Frequently unable to log into Netflix. In both instances, have to unplug TV for abut a minute, then reconnect--happens on average about once a week. Difficult to reset favorite channels--Sony support absolutely worthless on the subject. Bought this TV to replace a Samsung with similar problems. Had this one about a year. Will swap it out for an LG.

Greate 4K TV for vacations
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this TV at $1,199.99 and soon Best Buy lowered the price to $999.99. I was able to do a price match and got back $200 store credit.
