Horrible
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will never buy another sony product after buying this TV. 2 weeks after purchasing the TV it stopped working. HDMI ports did not work, internet didnt connect and then stopped turning on all together. Worst customer service on Sony's end.

Pleasently Surprised!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After our families recent move to Dallas, top of our list was to purchase a replacement flatscreen TV. After much online research, I had considered buying one direct from Amazon or at Walmart (due to the in-store convenience) but after having a chat with my brother-in-law's insistence to consider Best Buy I relented. Being originally from Minneapolis, and having gone to many of BB's flagship stores and being pestered non-stop by countless young salespeople in the past I gritted my teeth when I entered, but took my two young (3, 6) boys with as salesperson-defense. After a quick review of the high-def (4, 5k) TV's I realized I didn't know much about the market and needed help. I sought a Magnolia rep, and he was AWESOME, just plain a delight to work with. He was both knowledgeable and helpful in sorting the currently TV market. With his recommendation (this Sony 55in LED 4k) I mentioned I'd be back after doing a bit more research. A week and six other online reviews later I returned and gladly purchased this TV and have been very please with the purchase experience, the Geek Squad rep who did the install and the TV. I would highly recommend Best Buy and Sony for this TV.

Not what I was expecting from Sony
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an OK TV. I was expecting way better from the Sony brand. The menu system lags and freezes a lot. The darks in a lot of programs (mostly TV shows) are very pixelated.

Seems to be a fun little camera.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this camera for my daughter's b'day. It would have been nice for it to come with instructions in English. I'm not sure we've had it long enough to give a good or bad review. Overall, it seems to be a fun little camera.

worst 4k tv I purchased
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this Sony 4k 55" tv in mid-2016, Feb-2018 starting to have issue with Sony tv auto-turning off and then turns back on and wifi internet loss. I use this Sony tv about 3 hours daily and it will turn off about every three days or so. Sometime the screen just got frozen, no buttons will work on remote nor tv. I have to unplug the power on the TV to reset. I have several Samsung 4K and LED 1080p and they all have no issues and they are older than this Sony. IMO, Samsung has way better picture. I will NOT buy another Sony tv.....go with LG or another Samsung for this replacement.

Sony no Bolony
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok here it is........some folks like Honda some folks like Toyota. some folks Like Sony and some folks like Samsung. These two electronic super powers both offer great products...in fact the Best Buy I bought this at had SONY On the wall on the right and Samsung on the left..both in HUGE letters pretty much telling you, you can't go wrong with either. However I have always been a Sony fan and here's why: Sony is built to last and in my humble opinion the picture quality is superior. I was originally going to buy the Sony 49 inch...but for $100.00 more I got this baby at 55 inches...a deal. It was very easy to hook up my 5.1 Sony stereo system with the arc HDMI port and my Sony PS3...it is nice to have compatible devices ...not sure if Samsung makes a gaming system...no they don't. the initial set up and navigation is so simply a 10 year old can do it and the features are everything I want and need. The picture is crystal clear ,colorful and beautiful. 4K and smart is the only way to go right now until technology surpasses it. I love the USB ports in the back for easy access ..eliminating a DVD player with USB ports . Bottom line if you are considering this model you wont be disappointed...in fact I'm sure you will be very very glad you did. ENJOY!!!!!!!

Great TV, good for sports, action
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Beware of cheap 4k TVs even if they say they have a 120Hz panel. Most won't produce clear fast moving images (sports, etc). Unfortunately you can no longer check this in stores since most display are fixed in demos of slowly moving 4k content. I returned 2 Samsungs after poor motion performance (lots of blur). Finally this one is a good performer. Image is very clear, color and contrast are great. I also like android TV vs Samsung's smart function. Image processing is top notch on any Sony. With other brands you need to go top of the line or you miss basic features like 3:2 pulldown or even 24p playback for movies. This review is for the 55". When shopping for TVs , be aware that different sizes of the same model might have very different panels producing different results. For this TV for example, the 65" uses IPS panel , the 55" does not. I would take 1/2 start since this one slightly dim corners, but this is rarely noticeable when watching TV and definitely absent when watching movies in movie theater format with top and bottom black bars.

Great picture, upscaling, but some design flaws
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have this TV for a week now. Unlike some other reviewers I didn't have any problems with assembly or setup - all that went pretty easy. And I love the picture quality. I didn't like the sound at store, so I bought a soundbar, and the sound quality is very good with it. Now to the flaws: The soundbar that I bought - Sony HTCT380 - blocks the IR port on the TV (TV is used with a stand), and there is no IR passthrough. That could be easily mitigated by raising the TV half an inch higher, or (preferrably) having IR passthrough. I have ordered an IR extender, let's see how that plays out. Another issue is unreliable functioning of Chromecast. Sometimes it works fine, but sometimes it just shows garbled screen, and sometimes my devices struggle to see the TV (multiple devices at the same time, so I assume it's TV's fault, not the devices'). The other part that is not well thought through is a remote. It might be a standard remote, but there are 2 issues with it: 1) a nice have, but not necessary - add microphone to the remote so that users could perform voice searches. But as far as I understand electronics, it would require changing from IR to radio, which would itself fix some of the issues above, but make the remote more expensive, and basically there is already another remote for this. 2) and this one is more important - inability to enter search text using the remote. Whenever I go to search box and enter the text mode, the TV prompts me to use external keyboard (the SideView smartphone app helpfully brings up the keyboard at this moment), but it would be nice to be able to do this from the remote itself instead of going searching for the phone. Many apps allow text entry from the remote, but somehow not the main screen search, which is probably used the most. Sony must build some app or andoird add-on that would allow search using standard remote. There are some other smaller issues - like availability of apps, the lack of preinstalled web browser (Opera for TV is downloadable from Play Store, and Chrome can be installed with some additional tweaking), but those are the issues of Google's AndroidTV, not Sony, so I expect those to be resolved by future software updates from Google. However, I expect Chromecast issue to be resolved by Sony (nothing software update can't fix, heh? ;) ). Overall, great TV, especially for the price. It has everything most people need and nothing they don't. Recommend it.

Why is it so dark?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this tv for gaming. I have a 6 year old Vizio at the moment. I thought Sony's XBR tvs where supposed to be a big leap in quality. But the blacks are dark gray. The whites are light gray. The colors are bland and it's super dim. The response time was great and the images where clear. But even with the settings maxed out it was dark. How is it so dark while simultaneously having such terrible black levels? I returned this item.
