    Great Value

First foray into 4k. Knowing there is little 4k content, I focused on how the TV was rated for overall performance. Looked here and on other sites and saw this TV was well-rated for most tasks- TV, gaming, movies- only sound was weak, which is typical. Price, financing, and free delivery and set-up, plus easy returns policy, make Best Buy the choice if you want this set. I usually tinker with the settings, but out of the box they seem very good. My son is an avid gamer, and he says there is little lag and a great picture even on the Standard setting. Until more 4k available, I'm using a Roku box to stream rather than the TV. I tried the TV and it worked well in terms of streaming, but the Roku was a little easier for me than the TV's Google system. Delivery and set-up was on time and well done. Great experience.

Terrible. Tv no longer works. Needs a new motherboard. 2 months past the warranty. Sony says I am out of luck. Thanks Sony. Never again.

    Best Smart TV Available

The Android TV Operating system is so good it puts this tv far above competing sets from Samsung and LG. First off the interface is great and you get a huge selection of apps from the Google PlayStore. The voice recognition is also phenomenal. Also if you don't want to stream apps on the tv you can stream them from your phone since it has built in chromecast! Oh and the picture is fantastic too ;)

    Nice TV, unstable software

The TV is pretty nice with excellent picture quality including upscale ones. However, the Android TV software seems unstable. The TV got re-started by itself several times, one even during live TV viewing (not while using an app). Hope the software issue will be solved by subsequent updates. Also, should allow users to customize their home screens. It's kind of annoying to see a bunch of apps that I have no interests to install/use them.

I recently purchase a Samsung UN60JS7000,. After setting it up, I felt it was to large for my viewing area. After a couple of days I decided to return it, and exchange it for the Sony XBR55X801C. As it turned out, I'm glad I did. The size is perfect, and the pore than icture color and clarity is superior to the Samsung. The setup was easy, and the remote is easy to use. I also found the Sony volume to be just as good as the Samsung's, which I find to be more than acceptable. I've always been a fan of Sony products, and they have produced a great product in the XBR55.

    Crystal clear 4K TV

I totally love my new Sony 4K TV! My 55" flat screen recently broke and i started looking for new TVs. I was over at my brother's house and he recently upgraded to the 4K. I thought it looked amazing but did not think i could afford it. I was wrong! I got in on a really great sale and I think this new 4K was even less than my 1080 flat screen I bought years ago. Totally worth every penny! Picture is crystal clear and great for movie watching!

Great Pictures, Poor remote and interface

First things first, I absolutely love the picture of the TV, it's excellent. Have watched movies, dramas, comedies, all very good. Watched a pro football game and the picture was also excellent. Watched a college football game and the picture quality was just "ok".... could have just been that channel as everything else I have watched is very good. The remote sucks, the buttons to navigate between settings is very small, so it's easy to press the outer buttons. Putting in passwords is also very difficult, but that could be with all smart TV's. Overall, very happy with my purchase. I wish Sony made a 60" as I would have purchased that if I could. They go from 55 to 65". I purchased a LG before this and the picture was nice, but not as good. I would recommend this TV, but I hope Sony improves the user interface of the smart tv over time.

Very good TV for the price

Setup was nice and easy. The picture quality of this TV is amazing. The sound is ok. Just good enough that you don't need a sound bar. Overall, probably the best price/performance TV on the market. The 810c had a better picture than most TVs in the $1500-$2000 range. No HDR or 3D. Not a big deal considering the price. I really like what Sony did with this TV. Not as many bells and whistles as the 930D, but a comparable picture quality for half the price. The remote is a basic remote. I watch a lot of Netflix, so having a Netflix button is kind of nice. Other than that, it's just a remote. The picture settings from rtings.com look perfect. I did a lot of research before buying and the reason I went with Sony is because of their upscaling ability.

    Super blacks and grays

Just purchased this Sony 55 inch 810C after returning a Samsung 55 inch JS7000. The Samsung on sale lists for $300 more than the Sony, though I bought the Samsung at the same price ($999). The Samsung price went to $1,300 the next day!! The Samsung looked good, the picture quality/color was decent but the black/gray was terrible with large swirling clouds of green/yellow from sides and corners. Whenever there was a picture with "black" size reduction bands, these appeared greenish and were very distracting from the picture.According to rtings.com this is a common problem with this model - wish I had read the review before purchasing!! Anyway, the reviews for the Sony looked more promising so I swapped the Samsung for the Sony, same size, same price. The Sony is so much better. A black screen is really black and uniform, and a gray screen is really gray and uniform. No flaring, no green/yellow. Apparently, one factor at play here is that the Samsung 55 inch has an IPS screen whereas the Sony utilizes a VA screen. The Android operating system was a bit of a puzzle before purchasing but turned out to be really great. It has a built-in web browser, can be used with a wireless keyboard, and there are many apps preloaded, with the ability to download many others. Have owned the Sony about a week and am very pleased with this purchase. Also very pleased with BestBuy service in the way they handled the exchange and delivery/return.

I love this T.V. Has great Smart TV Platform. The picture is amazing and I have been very impressed with the sound quality, especially since it is light weight. Even though Sony is a little higher in price than some other it is definitely worth the extra $$. I would highly recommend this T.V. I promise you will fall in love with it.

I was going to buy the Vizio 55" M-Series television. It was sold out by the time I got to the party, so I bought the Sony instead. Wow, such amazing color and picture! Sometimes the universe is trying to tell you something, 'Spend a little more, and get something that you be happy with.'

I had recently purchased the LG 60" UF7300 model around Black Friday. What I found with that one is that for a gamer like myself, there was very noticeable input lag even in game mode. With this TV I have no complaints and I didn't even need to tweak the settings much at all to get it looking excellent for both Cable TV, 4K Netflix or gaming on a PS4/XB1. Great looking picture!

The first and most important task you need to do is running the update. It will take about an hour...Be patient! It's amazing quality both picture and apps. sound is not really perfect but improved as compared to my 4 year old LED TV. As of now, even though no TV channel is broadcasting 4K, I expect it happens soon. I really love and recommend it.

I have owned this tv for almost a month now. I bought it initially at the $1199 sale price (then received the price match when it went down to $999 which makes the value even better for this tv). Yes, the initial setup took almost an hour but not a big deal because you never have to do it again. I love the smart apps and capabilities so far on this tv. The picture is great, just took me a little bit to customize the picture to where i want it. The presets are fine, but I have a bright room so I needed to adjust it accordingly. Sports look great and the 4K netflix is awesome. I have even tested streaming the playstation games on the app and works great with my internet connection. No lag or disconnections. All in all it was definitely worth the money and I have researched a lot of tvs and feel this was the best overall package in this pricing group (primarily compared to the other Samsung tvs at this price point).

Got the TV in early November of 2015 and in February of 2016 the TV would not turn on anymore. After jumping through hoops SONY sent me a refurbished one as a replacement. Took about two weeks and received the TV in Mid March 2016. March 28th the TV died again of the same issue. No power going to the unit at all. Called up SONY and this time they wanted me to jump through more hoops. They wanted me to be in front of the TV in order to do a remote access troubleshooting. I tried telling the tech support that it would be impossible even if I was in front of the TV since there is no power going to the unit so there would be no way for them to access it remotely. Doesn't seem like they understand english. Good thing about this when it worked was that the colors were great and awesome for gaming. 4K up-conversion seemed great . Bad thing is there is an issue with this TV suddenly not powering on anymore. Seems like there were a few calls of the same issue to SONY support according to the rep I spoke with. Now awaiting SONY to call me back to let me know what they will do.
