I am super happy with this TV. Despite what you may read online this TV works in Netflix at 4K with the firmware update, Jessica Jones looks amazing at 2160. Haven't used Vudu in 4K yet but Man of Steel seems to be compatible at that resolution. It's not on any approved lists but it does play 4K content after you update the firmware.

Reviews made me nervous, but it's great

The 55" Sony 810C is a fine TV. The reviews made me nervous about making this purchase. The corners are fine. There is no issue or darkness as others have claimed. The sound is fixed with a sound bar. The only issue I have is that when I called Sony about some set up questions they made me nuts with their lack of knowledge.

Awesome 4k for the price. Great picture, good gaming tv. Did the update and the Netflix app stopped working so I did a factory reset and it's working again, also loses a little color when viewing at an angle but not too big a deal as I usually sit directly in front of it. Overall very nice tv.

    The Best

Today is May 28, 2016 at 10:24 p.m. EST, Boston, Massachusetts. I waited one month prior to writing this review just to make sure that I had my facts straight, lol. This TV is truly incredible. It blew away everything else in the store at, or, 1500 dollars above its price point. That includes; Samsung, Vizio, LG and everything else, and it was on sale for only 899!! Great price and very under-priced, in my opinion. I noticed that my local Best Buy store just increased the price to 999 dollars. The Triluminos Technology with the 4K X-Reality Pro enhancements upscale non 4K programming to near 4K quality. I was scanning the channels yesterday and watched an old movie from 1965 called, "The Battle of the Bulge". I could not believe how clear the picture was! It was remarkable and life-like. This film is 51 freaking years old and my new Sony TV up-scaled the network feed to near 4K UHD quality. I sat there staring at this movie in total awe of the quality of the picture. It was amazing. Now, some TV commercials are still broadcast in analog (for some weird reason) and the Sony TV is not able to "upscale" these commercials. However, even the old "Welcome Back Kotter", "Barney Miller", "All in the Family", "Happy Days", "The Twilight Zone", "The Honeymooners" "The Untouchables" and "I Love Lucy" TV sitcoms are much more improved over their original broadcast analog content. The Food Network has some 4K content that is so real and life-like that you could walk up to the TV and grab a cheeseburger, barbecue spare ribs, or a Peter Luger steak right off the grill! lol. The baseball games are so real and life-like that you can actually COUNT the individual blades of grass on the field and the seams on the baseball as the pitcher holds the ball in his hands. I am really looking forward to football season so I can watch the New England Patriots in full 4K UHD TV on this beautiful Sony 4K TV.

I'm really enjoying that I've finally upgraded to a 4K tv, and watching on 120hz is a game changer. I'm extremely happy with my purchase.

Did weeks of research (rting.com had the most comprehensive review) and bugging Best Buy sales people for answers led me to this that was the best I could afford. Gave up on HDR since deciding I didn't need blinding whites for viewing enjoyment. Sony came through with a great picture at a fantastic price. Best Buy also honored the $100 price drop that occurred within days of my initial purchase. Glad I immediately connected this tv to the internet. The firmware update improved remote response time and added features to the already wide selection of apps available. Found streaming 4k content on plutotv.. I connected the internet directly to the back of the tv for best speed. Works for me.

Great picture and Android functions a plus

I bought this TV in April 2016 (almost 3 months ago). Read many reviews on various brands and options. I was looking for a quality 55" TV for under $1000 and Best Buy had this one on sale - it fit the bill perfectly. The picture quality is very good and I love having easy access to Netflix, YouTube, HuluPlus, etc. without any extra equipment. The only drawback I have found with this TV is that Netflix will freeze up on login or playback occasionally. But upon calling customer service about it I found the solution was an easy fix: just go into Settings > Apps > Netflix and clear the data cache. An occasional annoyance but livable. So far, overall, it's a great choice. Will update this review later if problems arise. (Hopefully I won't have to come back.)

    Great Picture for Blue-Rays

As other people have stated, this tv is great for Blue-rays...I see things that I never saw before on my previous tv. There are programs that I stream, however, that make the people's motion seem really weird...jittery like. I have never had this problem before with my Samsung tv and I am thinking about returning this Sony tv and buying a Samsung again.

Like Sony XBR TV's have for years, this model has an incredibly beautiful picture. Unfortunately, the Android OS is terrible. It is difficult to navigate and several Apps keep crashing.

    Great TV for the price

This is my second Sony HDTV. I bought a 52" LCD XBR back in 2009 and it still works fine and never had a problem. The picture is nice and crisp, the motion is fine, and the Android smart TV features let me stream Pandora and Netflix directly. I was able to connect a Bluetooth keyboard also. The only negative is that the built-in sound is not great, so most people will want to get a good sound bar for it. Otherwise it's a great TV for the money (sale price of 899).

    Very good

For the price, it's a great size and so far the quality is also good. I'very gone through two Samsungs in the last four years and will never buy that brand again, replaced the last one with a Westinghouse that we kept for two weeks, then started blowing pixels, so returned it for this Sony. My only complaint, and it is large enough for me to remove a full star, is that the base is extremely flimsy and unstable; the TV wiggles back and forth with the gentlest of touches. This is NOT good if you have kids or pets. Because of this, the tv absolutely must be wall mounted for me to feel safe in keeping it. The TV has a decent weight also, so keep that in mind in knowing it'll need to be hung.

Thank Yoy Best Buy for putting together this awesome Sony 55" TV and corresponding Soundbar. The Smart TV is wonderful along with the 4K technology. I custom set my picture and sound and I just absolutely am amazed with the results. I was so impressed with the Sony performance that I went back to Best Buy and purchased the Sony Blu-ray player with 4K upgrade on my blu-ray. Simply stunning sound and picture. Best buy is my one and only store for electronics and anything else I would need to keep up with the ever-changing trends of technology

Great tv. True to rtings.com reviews. As long as you are in the sweetspot the contrast and colors are great. I purchased this tv for a small room that I have devoted for gaming and binge watching Netflix so I sit directly in front of it. Looked at many tv's and Sony was the only brand that had the ideal motion handling I was looking for. The screen is uniform with the acception of dark corners and a little light flashing on the edges but not bad enough to be a deal breaker. The Netflix app can be buggy sometimes but works great for the most part.

Great picture and interface... Poor motion

Being that Sony created 4k, it was a natural choice. After connecting the TV and watching 4k content, I was was thrilled with the quality but the motion was very poor. I changed the setting and the "smoother" you make it, the darker the picture becomes. Even when it was set to the smoothest setting, it was still poor quality. I expected more, but this level of the Sony brand is not up to par. I have since returned this TV and purchased the M class 60" Visio 4K which is the same price and larger. Turns out, this is exactly what I expected from a next gen TV and in every way is much better TV. I highly recommend!
