great picture no smart tv benifits
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First it is difficult to set up, secondly after 3 days of trying to get all the features to work...they don't. You can only use the preloaded apps so if you have a Hulu subscription don't count on using it because you can't. Hulu and Sony don't get along. The TV wants to update every other day or so. It takes about 10 mins. With all that said the picture is amazing we have a bose sound system which interacts with this tv great. If you want a smart tv buy a different brand. If you want an awesome picture this is your tv.

Awesome Product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a complete TV with all the features within a very great price range. Sound is good, light dimming is great and motion rate is perfect. 2 days into the TV and I'm loving it. Only problem is the YouTube app does not support the speaking option. Got for this TV before it gets out of stock.

A good tv for accurate viewing experience but...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this after my trusty 4+ year old 42 inch 1080p Samsung short circuited thanks to a faulty surge protector and/or wall outlet. Would of liked to have waited till the holiday sales to get something with nice features like clear/glossy screen, OLED, UHD, etc. but couldn't be helped I guess (I'm on a students budget). Don't get me wrong though, it's a good tv. I bought a Vizio 50 inch M series before this one and the motion handling, pixel response and upscaling are all a lot better on the Sony although upscaling isn't perfect. This tv does a great job at displaying an accurate picture, but on the flip side it doesn't have one of those super crisp and colorful screens that I kind of wanted. I can mess with the settings to try and make it look like one of those sets but in the end it just looks like the screen is trying to hard because this tv wasn't designed to be one of those sets. It has more of that low light, warm colored, cinema look to it. It looks a lot like my Samsung did; i.e I don't really feel like I "upgraded" my viewing experience from my now dead Samsung aside from the screen size, a bit better contrast and the obvious increase in pixels.

Not Enough Screws for Stand
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I been a long time fan of Sony products so I jumped at the opportunity to purchase this TV during the Black Friday promotion at Best Buy. However, when I finally got it home and tried to set it up I couldn't mount the stand on the back of the TV! In the buyer's guide it shows that in the box you get the TV, a stand, two mounting latches, and six screws. But oddly enough the six screws is just to bolt the mounting latches into the back of the TV. The remaining two screws are to connect the stand to the TV, however it won't work because it simply falls off. It requires further bolt to lock the stand in place after you screw the remaining two screws into the back of the TV. In other words Sony shipped a TV that's impossible to assemble out of the box. I thought this was a fluke, however I exchanged this TV multiple times with the same results. Even the employees at Best Buy tried to put it together and when they couldn't their advice was to call Sony so they could ship me the additional parts to put the stand together. I wanted to love this TV, it looked great in the store. However, Sony made a mistake in not giving consumers the necessary parts to assemble the TV.

Very disappointed!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Our 9 year old Panasonic plasma bit the dust so I shopped and decided on the Sony 4K 810c. Primary reason was it was about the only model Best Buy had in stock. After three days of having to adjust the picture, it's going back today. Sound is awful too! Doesn't even come close to my 9 year old plasma! Watched several network shows last night and picture was really good, this morning picture is totally different and can't be adjusted.

Great TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an awesome tv. It is a true Smart TV with built-in Google marketplace. The picture quality is excellent with deep blacks which makes it great for dark movies. Input lag is minimal which makes it great for games as well. I have no complaints, and setup was a breeze.

picture is good sound is horrible
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.im a little disappointed with this tv from Sony. the picture is good. depends what tv channel your watching or the picture source. the speakers however are just plain awful. its just horrible. you can get used to it but on low volume it sounds like a broken speaker. and no, the speakers are not broken, they just suck. i know, i know buy a sound bar or external sound system. ok but i dont always want to use a sound bar especially at night and now have to use more electricity. 4k is overated and sometimes the picture looks fake almost cartoonish because of the upscaling. the smart features are ok i guess. dont use em much. mirrorcast is phat though

Love it!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had been contemplating my old flat screen for a long time. After a lot of looking around, I narrowed it down to this Sony or Samsung. Side by side comparison there was no question. This Sony had an outstanding picture. My concern was what it would lok like in my home with my cable signal. I do subscribe to HD channels but I was skeptical about what it would really look like. I am amazed at the clarity of this tv. Colors are crisp and HD never looked so good. I started watching old bluray movies again because they look even better. I heard some people are not thrilled with the sound. Thin panel televisions dont have room for large speakers. I added the Sony sound bar so it was never an issue for me. Its like bringing the movie theater home.

Nice TV so far a struggle to setup
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm having trouble setting this unit up without an Owner's Manual. The model numbers are confusing when searching Sony's Website for an on-line pdf format manual. I have an older Bose Surround Sound System that uses RCA Jacks to connect. The Sony isn't hooking up correctly very frustrating because I lack the information to troubleshoot.

Model XBR55X800B VERY VERY disappointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very disappointed with this TV, it was my 2nd Sony TV and after 4 months this annoying blinking light came out and the TV wouldn't turn on, I got of hold of a Sony rep and they helped me reset the TV, the following day same thing so I got a hold of the same Sony rep and we did something different with the same results. He gave me a number to call so I could talk to someone else and I did and after a good 20 minutes he came to the conclusion that my TV needed to get service so he put an order, it took about a week for someone from Sony to call me to let me know that in about a week and a half the part was going to arrive at the nearest Sony service center and then they were going to send someone to fix my TV, so for about almost a MONTH I haven't had a working TV and the last 3 weeks the TV won't even turn on, I wish I can just returned it and get an LG or Samsung. WORST service EVER, I regret purchasing this TV.

My first 4K TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great TV! It was highly recommended by BestBuy staff, and I'm very pleased with it. Picture quality is awesome, and I can't wait until more movies and TV shows come out with the 4K technology. If you don't know what 4K means, it means that the screen quality is 8,000,000 pixels, compared to regular LED, which is only 1,000,000 pixels. You won't see the difference until TV shows and movies are shown in the 4K technology. There's only a small number of movies that have been formatted to 4K, but it's the wave of the future, and I can't wait!!!

TV Good - Sony Service terrible
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Beautiful picture but six weeks after purchase from BB it goes dead. I know, these things happen. Since BB only has 15 day exchange policy we have to go to Sony for repair. This all started on a Saturday. After a 25 minute phone call proving that the TV is actually plugged into the wall and that it is really dead, they write up a service order. On Monday I get an email stating that the work has been subbed out to a company for repair and that a replacement board (static recovery board) will be sent. The very competent tech arrives (who was apparently a sub-contractor to the contractor) on Friday and installs the board. Still dead. The tech says Sony ordered the wrong part and that they will have to send the correct one. He called Sony on the spot and told them about the problem. Monday, I call the tech and he said they are waiting for a new repair order from Sony. I then call Sony and they say no one has reviewed my case yet and someone will send me an email. No email arrives on Monday. Tuesday afternoon (this is now 9 days since it went belly up) I get an email from Sony telling me that the part is not available and they will have to replace the TV as long as I can provide proof of purchase. So now, they are going to send out another TV by carrier and pick up the old one. My first issue is that Sony made a judgement over the phone of what caused the problem with the TV and didn't send enough parts. The second issue is that they don't have the part? In a current production TV? I'm really disappointed in what used to be a great brand. I sure hope there are no problems with the replacement.

Great TV, fantastic value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love my new TV. After pouring over reviews on Best Buy and RTings.com I decided that this would be my best choice for sports and video games (ps4). This TV did not disappoint. This TV is a total game changer for both sports and video games. My PS4 looks far superior to how they did on my Samsung plasma, and sports are clear and free of any blur. I am very happy with my purchase. Get this TV while you still can!

55" makes nice gaming / computer monitor
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.bought the 55" to double as monitor for gaming computer and some general computer work. Also will watch some movies. Yes the corners at a little dark, but you quickly forget about these as you're watching/using it. Overhead glare from recessed cans more than I would like but also not a problem unless we have them on full bright. Text is very crisp and easy to read even at full 4k resolution. We sit about 4 feet from the screen for computer use and 15 to 20 feet for movies (little far for movies this size but ok)
