Another amazing TX from Sony.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Another amazing TX from Sony. Not quite the quality of the 950 series but the HDMI 2.1 support and forthcoming VRR will make it the perfect TV for next-gen gaming. Lighting fast interface and solid app performance.

Sony 900 series TV & Soundbar
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony TV and sound bar are excellent. Matthew and Travis were excellent with the instillation. They were on time, respective of our home, wore safety equipment and were early with the appointment. The only issue we had was that we were not told we could bundle the sound bar with the TV to save money. Our first visit to the store was to buy the TV. We were discussing a sound bar purchase but decided to use our old system due to high cost of a good sound bar. When I got home and looked Best Buy web site I discovered the upper end TV could be purchased with a good sound bar. I went back to store and it took 1 hour to straighten the purchase out. Have to go to 3 different people to refund and repurchase both items. With travel I invested 1.5 hours of time.

Posted .Hi Delo,
Thank you so much for reaching out!
Last week, a U.S. Sony Support article was updated and incorrectly removed reference to future support for VRR and ALLM for the X900H series.
Please note that this was an error, and the plan to support these features is unchanged from the previous communication wherein we state that the X900H will support VRR and ALLM via a future firmware update. The article containing the erroneous information on Sony Support has been updated with the correct information: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/televisions-projectors/articles/00246472
Our apologies for any confusion this may have caused! Please let us know if you have any questions.

||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the "midrange" this is it. If good picture quality is important, I wouldn't go cheaper than TCL 6 series. If you're worried about quality control, then this is your next "budget" option. If you're looking for hdmi 2.1 to work perfectly, your only option is the CX OLED or to wait for 2021 models. This wipes the floor with the Q70T or nanocell 90. Q80T is more expensive and doesn't support Dolby vision. 900H is the best middle ground between the junk TVs and the fancy OLEDs

Sony fails to deliver promised features
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pretty good picture quality for your average TV/ movie viewing. I bought this TV for the promised gaming features for my new Xbox Series X. In 120hz mode (which you can't use with Dolby Vision) the 4k vertical resolution is halved (not true 4k). Almost a year after release and we STILL don't have the promised VRR or ALLM. Also there still seems to be audio dropouts when using eArc. Pretty big let down for my first Sony TV. I won't be buying another. Better off spending a little bit more to get all of the features you want.

Good advanced features but with irritating issues
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This review is for the 55 inch model. TV is wall-mounted in my master bedroom. For those considering this model, I've listed positives as well as negatives below. Personally, had I known that I would encounter the negative issues listed below, I would have chosen a competitive model that's priced $300 less than this Sony model Positives: 1) Accurate color out of the box; realistic without being overwhelming 2) Trouble-free connections to online apps 3) Ability to receive Next Gen or ATSC over the air signal. This tv will receive free 4K signal once those programs are made available by local stations; 4K signal is expected to be available in the SF bay area by the end of 2020. Before I discovered this tv model, I was prepared to pay upwards of $250 for an outboard 4K decoder, which is still under development as of this writing 4) Variable refresh rate for gamers; I have to admit this feature is more for my son than for me but still an added feature Negatives: 1) WiFi connection repeatedly disconnects after periods of non-use. The only way to get connection back is to either restart tv or unplug power cord. This defect only started after a firmware update roughly two weeks ago 2) Weak bass from speaker system even after setting bass to maximum. I ended up buying a surround sound system to augment overall sound 3) Dolby Vision HDR did not work when playing 4K disc from LG ultra HD player. I had to purchase a Sony branded ultra HD player for Dolby Vision to work

Satisfied Customer Rich M
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went to Best Buy to see what size TV (50”-55”) would accommodate my space. The floor person I talked to told me they had free home consultation. I agreed. A geek squad member came to my home, made the assessment & confirmed that a 55” would work. I knew the Sony I wanted & was able to purchase the TV through this person. He was very knowledgeable & had the answers to my questions. I am well pleased with this TV. Picture is very sharp. Size makes you feel like characters are right in your room. I am pleased with service from Best Buy. Excellent rating*****

My first smart TV.
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first smart TV, so in addition to the picture and sound quality, I appreciate connectivity and streaming features. Before HBO Max came to Amazon Fire devices, I used it on this TV, and it was the smoothest that this service has ever worked for me. It's also my way of future-proofing myself, with its 4K capabilities and some of the HDmi ports getting HDMI 2.1 updates (though I don't have anything yet to take advantage of that). My only real gripe is that there have been instances where the TV reboots itself, with a warning coming when the sound comes out. Fortunately, a Google search and a Reddit sub-forum that Google led me to helped me find the settings to change so as stop this.

Decent TV, no VRR
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not a bad TV, but at the price point it's hard not to spend a couple more hundred for an OLED. Surprisingly Enjoyable Purchase
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was honestly really surprised to how much I ended up enjoying this tv. The full array is really impressive as it handles blacks AMAZINGLY well for an LED tv. One gripe I have with it is that Dolby vision has two modes, a light and a dark mode and I guess having some kind of auto-light sensor detector would be annoying, you have to switch between the two modes if you want to match the lighting ambiance of the room. I usually leave it on Dolby Vision as I prefer deeper colors for most of the content I watch. Gaming wise, the input lag is top notch and handles 4k console gaming really well! It says it supports VRR and my xbox one can enable 120hz on it, but i have not tested that feature yet, as Id rather wait until i have either a PS5 or Series X to test that out.

Sony X900H
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was one of the many affected by the winter storm in Texas as my apartment got flooded from busted pipes. My TV was among the items destroyed so I looked for a new one. My old TV was the Sony XBR-55X800G and I loved it. However my insurance was paying me for replacements so I decided to look at the higher end models. My choices were the X900H and the X950H. Both are great choices however it came down to price and usage. If visuals and the processor are your main concerns, the 950 is your best choice. If you game and want a cheaper option, go for the 900. Ultimately, I went with the X900 and am happy with my choice.

Sony Does It Again
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What a great TV! Very sleek compared to our old Sony TV. Awesome picture and 4K! We considered an LG Nanocell 90, but we know that we made the right call. The stand didn’t clear the Sony sound bar we have, but I had a stand from Amazon that fit perfectly. I would advise to have a sound bar hooked up. The sound quality isn’t the greatest, but my Sony sound bar makes up for it. Make sure you figure out what size is right for the room you are going to put it in. Having dark curtains will help with the sun reflecting from the windows. We are very happy with this TV! Get the protection plan. It will save you money on installation.
