Within four weeks, I power the tv on and have to wait up to at least five minutes before the picture and sound work. The 1st time this happened, I was frantic. The 2nd time it happened, I thought I had figured out what to do. But it took a little longer. The 3rd time it happened, it took even longer. And now the 4th time, I guess I just have to power it on and wait for it to decide it's going to work. Other than that, when it wants to work, it seems really awesome. But the thought of spending over $2000 on a TV that gives me a black screen is little upsetting. I also prefer to use VUDU and not Netflix so It would have been nice having that button on the remote.

Why with the built in Netflix app does not support 4k is beyond confusing. You have to do a swap search to find out that it is not listed on the "preferred" 4k Netflix site. I also purchased a 4k LG at less then 1/4 the price, it supports 4k Netflix. It works if I plug in an Nvidia shield to it. YouTube works in 4k, but the built in app does not. Video quality is great, but not so much better than the LG that is 1/4 the price.

This OLED display is stunning. It has rich color and deep black owing to no backlight bleed through. You can see the picture nearly as well from any angle you can see the screen. The sound is simply one of the best from a TV. The sound actually comes out of the screen via a driver behind the glass (hopefully this doesn't affect longevity) so the sound is coming toward you instead of down or back. With Dolby Atmos the sound actually comes out of the screen in the places where the sound should be occurring. It's a cool effect. It also supports eARC which is great for my stereo surround system. It comes with a myriad of apps with the ability to download more. The TV is very light weight and was easy to set up. My family and I are enjoying watching movies on this TV.

Moved from Samsung 53” Plasma to this 65” OLED. While I was content with the plasma, I had no idea of the detail, depth of color, and processing speed I was missing! This TV is head and shoulders over what we had. Installation and set up was a snap, as this TV was 12” larger, yet weighs 20 lbs less than the smaller plasma. On screen guide walked us through set up, which was very intuitive, and took all of 5 minutes to complete. I now have an Arcam AVR390, and some Audioquest HDMI cables coming, to bring my new system to today’s standards. I can’t wait to see this weekend’s NFL games in all their glory! Should feel like I’m sitting on the 50 yard line at every stadium. We also can’t wait to watch some blue-ray movies in 7.1.4 surround, and be set on the edge of our seats!

So, if you're like me buying a TV is next to buying a car in second guessing myself. What bells and whistles do I need? Where is the best price point, etc. I purchased this at $2499 and I can HIGHLY recommend it at that price and maybe even more. You probably have your own brand preferences but, out of the decision between comparable Samsungs and LGs (a lot to think through with their slightly less expensive options) I went with Sony. Let's get something out of the way first, if you are buying this to improve your cable viewing, you're wasting your money. Sports look a tad better than my old 4K Samsung, the uniforms are probably more true color but, it's not a grand (literally and figuratively) difference. Where this TV shines is on 4K and above content. A couple of YouTube test runs and the wow factor sets in (I feel sorry for everybody who bit hard on 3D glasses because this stuff is basically 3D now), which also points to a good feature, internet content runs quickly and the remote has voice activation. Never thought I wanted that but, man is that a cool feature I won't live without again. But, if you want to hear about 4K movies in a darkened room let me cut to the chase. I've never seen anything better. OLED is amazingly black and that makes a HUGE difference. My test was Stanley Kubrick's 2001 Space Odyssey in 4K and my mind was blown immediately. I've owned this in every format it's come out on and I have never seen this movie like this. I saw so much more than I ever have I don't even know where to begin. Clearly Stanley is smiling down because this is how the movie should look. Even the opening and end scenes are HUGE upgrades over bluray but, the real winner is the second segment (trip to the moon) where the blacks are so freaking black that in a darkened room, you don't see the panel. You just see the black of outer space flowing into the room and with the sharper details in the stars and models, you feel like you are floating in space. The other scene that is absolutely breathtaking is all the reds and blacks in Hal's memory chamber. Now Bowman's GREEN helmet just stands out (I'm sure there is a point to this color somehow from Stanley) and the scene takes on even more power. Just brilliant. Worth the price of the television for those 3-4 minutes. Operates with my old Samsung soundbar just fine and does basically the same stuff we've heard for a long time now. Super light. I had Geek Squad still set it up on a Sanus full motion mount because it is beside a fireplace I pull it out from and it works like a charm. You definitely want to be carefuly pulling from the sides however, as top and bottom seems to be the way with this super thin panel. I did think about 75 inches versus 65 but, with the way the OLED works and because of space limitations, we are sitting about 10 feet away and 65 field of vision feels just right. It definitely uses the space well and for movies, because of the OLED pixels turning off to perfect black you no longer see the bars in a dark room. You just watch the best picture you've ever seen.

I was shopping for a new LED TV since Christmas 2019. I kept comparing between the Samsung Q70 and the Sony X900F. Samsung's contrast and black levels were something I was used to for years of Samsung products. Sony's sharpness and clarity was unrivaled but I didn't like the blooming issues in dark scenes. Enter the A8G. What a phenomenal OLED it has everything I want. I can't forget to mention the TV's speakers. They sound awesome for what they are! It'll definitely buy you some time before you get the sound bar.

I was set on an OLED and was convinced of this Sony over the LG equivalent due to the superior speed of its processor (which was evident in a store demo). Despite a lacking UI and remote I was excited for the picture quality. The problem is that weeks later in my home I found myself struggling to display a single picture or video in true OLED-quality 4K UHD. 4K movies purchased from Amazon video: great but not stunning. 4K Netflix content: impressive but not mindblowing. Stock Sony screensavers: blurry and downright disappointing. Now I realize that a sort of cap exists for streamed content (despite an 997MB Google Fiber ethernet connection). But that being the case, I found myself wondering why I had spent so much money, taken on the burn-in risk, and compromised on far superior UI’s in order to be able to be able to play content that is so utterly unrealistic to access in 2020 (hardcopy 4K UHD content on a Blu-ray player or USB stick). Despite the beautiful aesthetic of the thing, I ended up switching it out for the Samsung Q80” and so far I could not be happier. The remote is sleek and minimal, the UI is eons easier to navigate, and the screensavers (ambient mode) are as beautiful as I would expect a high-end company to provide. AND yes, everything that I have seen so far on the new tv has been just as good, if not better (imo), than the OLED. With the anti-glare tech the blacks look just as good as the Sony OLED did. Now I have a tv with an excellent UI, top-tier picture quality, a much more modern remote, no worrisome common issues like burn-in — all at a lower price point. Needless to say I am very happy with my decision and I will not be recommending OLED tv’s to friends and family.

If you are anything like me, you are wondering 75" QLED or LED vs 65" OLED. I replaced a 10 year old 60" Sharp Aquos that still has a great picture, but I wanted Dolby vision and will pair with Dolby Atmos. I wanted big big big, but am a Dad that wanted to stay under $2k. When I first hung the TV I immediately felt like I should've went with a 75". But after about an hour of streaming Netflix with Dolby Vision, I can tell you that I don't know how I'll ever watch something on a non-OLED. This is not the top of the line, but I was a great deal and had everything I wanted. I'm blown away by this TV. The aesthetics, the viewing angles for everyone in the room can't be beat. The picture is so good that it has to be seen to be understood. I'm already an OLED snob, even if it will be playing Mickey Mouse Clubhouse 99% of the time. You won't regret it.

Set this up quickly, no issues. The sound is very good, even without a sound bar or other external speakers/amplifier. The screen-based sound is worth listening to, along with the bass speaker that fires at the bottom. There is an audio out jack that works with the main remote control, so that is good for those who don't want to use a separate remote. The picture is phenominal. especially for watching sports (football) and shows on Netflix and Amazon Prime. Watching true black colors is amazing. I watched the recent Star Wars - The Last Jedi on Netflix, and even the dark scenes had amazing contrast. Color is bright enough, and the viewing angles are also much better than most LED/LCD panels. I am also the owner of a 65" Samsung SK9000 series TV and a 65" LG ThinQ set. Both of those suffer from "light blooming" from the LEDs, where the OLED does not. Also, my Samsung has what is known as a "dirty screen effect", where you can see on the screen what looks like, well, dirt on it, during fast moving or light colored backgrounds. This also is not happening on this Sony OLED. There are plenty of customization options to make the picture look the way you want it. Don't expect your local cable company picutre to look anywhere near as good as what you see in the store. This is true with any of the high-end sets. If you have the budget and have not been happy with the back lighting nuainces or dirty screen effects on LED/LCD sets, then this is a great step up. I was lucky to get this while the price was down just before black Friday. Can't talk about any image burn in, as I have not had it long, and won't be playing video games on it, or keeping one particular channel on.

Great tv. Better than Samsung Q80

I first started out with the Samsung Q80T(the 2020 model) over this model only because i read reviews on both this one and the Samsung Q80 and most the reviews said the Samsung was better for glare reduction. Being that i have a big bay window across from my tv that was a big concern. Let me say my experience was the complete opposite. The Samsung had a real bad glare when the tv was on or off where as the Sony A8G had next to none. Even with the curtains open in the middle of the day there was barely a glare on the Sony. As far as picture quality i also heard lots of reviews saying the Samsung was much better. This was also untrue for me. Again it was the complete opposite for me. It took me a week of being on the phone with support from best buy and from samsung to try and get the picture to not look either horribly fake or super fuzzy. i must have went through tons of reviews online and tech help from multiple agents from best buy and Samsung. Again nothing i did with the Samsung tv worked. With the Sony A8G as soon as i took it out of the box is was what i was looking for. It worked with netflix, movies and even cable box tv. everything was great. So for me, hands down i am super happy with switching from the Samsung Q80 to the Sony A8G. the only bad thing i can say is the remote. when i am using the tv remote to control the cable is runs really slow through the guide. But i fixed that by just using the remote i got from that cable company and it scans through just fine.

I had a very helpful Associate helping me fill in the Blanks. I was familiar with OLED Technology but I'm not a Big Fan of LG Products. He pointed out the Sony Line since I wasn't aware Best Buy was carrying. I've always been a huge Sony Fan for their R & D, Overall Quality, worth the extra.......I got an excellent deal right before Black Friday & they delivered promptly. Setup was a Breeze for me being more savvy......I could see a Beginner getting through it without too many complications, just needing a lot more time. I had a trained eye from Plasma & no LED's could match the Contrast/True Blacks. Sony's OLED blew me away! Doesn't look perfect on Xfinity Broadcast HD @ 1080p on all Channels, but any Streaming Source (Firestick, Netflix) looks beyond Amazing. Loving my Midlife Crisis TV haha!

The Sony A8G has the perfect black levels you would expect from an OLED. The color volume is amazing and the contrast and details are near perfect. The Acoustic Panel makes the sound amazing as well. My one complaint is AndroidTV is a little slow but the picture quality makes up for it.

This is an astonishing TV I did about six months of research before purchasing. I know I know the LG C9 is better, but here me out. When it comes to Sports, Movies, and Motion I firmly believe Sony is ahead of the competition. When it comes to video games and OS I give the nod to LG. I always use my Apple TV as the home hub so I bypass the Android OS. Also, video games are not bad per say and you really do not notice the input lag 037/1 second. I also like that you can set the TV stand backwards to fit a sound bar comfortably. Every day I come home and admire how much I love OLED. Remember when it comes to Burn In as long as you vary your content and do not watch the same static logos for 24 hours, 4 weeks, and 365 days straight you are more than likely to be okay. I would purchase this again. The only thing I wish was if I could afford the Sony A9G, but this TV will do just fine!
