I am TIRED of manufacturers and retailers such as Best Buy lying to our faces to sell a product. I went OUT OF MY WAY to make sure I was purchasing a 120hz NATIVE TV. Well, I got what I wanted...but turns out the 120hz is only at 1080p. So it will NEVER be used. What a waste of my time and money. DO NO TELL ME I AM PURCHASING A 4K TV WITH 120HZ IF IT IS ONLY AVAILABLE AT STANDARD HD. Unbelievable and unacceptable.

One year of use and this TV is completely dead. Will not turn on. Troubleshot issues myself using the manual and online suggestions, nothing has worked. Hours on the phone with Sony just to be told that I've already tried everything they would suggest. When the TV won't turn on, you are very limited with troubleshoot options. They will not honor warranty because purchase date was slightly more than 12 months ago - even though the TV has only been installed/in use for 11 months. Sony Representative attempted to recommend an authorized service provider, but there are none in my state. The Rep came back on the line with the name of a local place, and I asked if she just looked in google or the white pages for someone, and she responded yes. (!!) Sony has provided zero help and left this consumer feeling taken advantage of. Tried to escalate the issue with Sony, received call from their "director of National Customer Relations" who insisted their was no one higher than she is to help.

After 3 months the OS is no longer stable. Have to hard reboot the TV by unplugging the tv from the wall weekly to recover from crashes. Many times the Netflix app runs out of memory and the app will crash. AppleTV hdmi Dolby Atmos signal has a tendency to disable all Dolby Atmos audio for every input and output which is annoying, hard reboot is the only fix again. My 4 yr old LG OLED is more stable than this thing. At this price point the TV should have been better tested as it is clearly a defect at the OS, App, and firmware layers. I use Netflix, Prime, and Disney+ and nothing else on its interface.

    XBR65A8x -- Three-years-only. Then dead.

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Best Buy sold me this unit --- XBR65A8F -- touting it as THE best unit in the line. Three years in, terminal failure. A call to Sony Concierge produced "it is out of warranty" and "we'll sell you another one for 25% off." Really??? I'm trying to figure out why I want another three-year TV. Now, to be fair, the picture was awesome ... yes. The sound was better-than-average for a full-width screen as well ... yes. The Android function was nifty as well. But this unit cost me an average of $1,100 per year. And when it failed, Sony insulted me with a paltry attempt at customer satisfaction. To be fair again, I haven't asked Best Buy what they'll do for me. (Hmmm, I'll try that now.) But my gut-reaction is: be leery of the Sony XBR-series (and arguably of the Sony brand itself.)

Like many other users we had this TV for a little over 8 weeks before the screen would randomly black out and now it doesn’t work at all. Sony is going to replace within the next three weeks but it’s still disappointing when a brand new, pricey TV just stops working. There has to be a better option. Don’t buy this if you can help it. It’s just not reliable.
