I pulled the trigger and got the best!!!
|Posted .Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5I purchased this item in the 65 inch size for my living room. I bought it on March 16 and didn't have a way to bring it home with me so I ended up picking it up on March 19. My brother had bought the same TV from Best Buy in Holland an hour before I bought my TV and I didn't know that until I called him to tell him that it was on sale. I took him to Best Buy on Alpine almost a month ago and showed him all the different TVs that they had and explained what to look for. I explained and showed him the cons and pros of every manufacturer and he kept going back to this XBR65A8H saying that he never saw such a perfect picture. Before I went to Best Buy to purchase this TV I called my brother to tell him about the sale price and he laughed telling me he was getting it out of his truck about ten minutes before I called. He said to give him a couple hours and he would try to make time to come over and I said to him just have fun and we could pick it up Friday. My brother helped me Friday and we picked up and brought the item home in the back of his pickup. Once we got to my house we took my 12 year old LG 60 inch plasma TV off the wall mount and put it standing up in the truck's back seat strapping it in good so we could use it in the party area of the garage at his place in Holland. I took the rest of the old wall mount off the wall and put that in the truck also. That plasma screen TV was heavy for this old man since I'm damaged and handicapped but the box that had the Sony in it was quite a bit lighter. We brought that in the house and slid the box off of the top and he had it ready to pick up from the rest of the box in a few minutes. He already did his Tuesday so he already knew how to do it all since he had experience from doing his TV. My brother told me how to pick it up and gave me the stand foot for my side and explained how to insert it. I was amazed how easy it was to put the stand up into the unit and we had it on my TV stand below where I was going to mount it when my mount arrived. We had it plugged in on the stand in less than five minutes after we brought the box in the house. I ended up unplugging all the HDMI cables from my Onkyo receiver since it was too old to pass 4k and plugged them into the new TV along with a simple Toslink optical to connect it all to the Onkyo. I sat down with the remote control and turned off the Onkyo since I knew it would take time to get the surround system sorted out again with the new TV and decided I would do that later. I turned on the TV and went through the steps it wanted to do and it surprised me that my 1080i feed from my Uverse looked worse than it looked on my old plasma set. I switched inputs to my Roku Ultra and went to HBO and pulled up a 24k movie and started it and the picture was amazing!!! I didn't even do any adjusting yet and the settings for colour and picture was still out of the box settings and that picture was as fantastic as the feed at Best Buy looked on the display unit. All I could say was oh my gosh wow as I watched part of the movie and knew I bought the best TV I would probably ever buy. I went back to the Uverse feed and started watching a game I had on the DVR and about an hour later I suddenly noticed something really amazing. I still hadn't touched any settings and what I suddenly noticed was that the feed had slowly gotten better and it was already better than my plasma. The lower resolution AI had already started learning and changing the feed slowly upgrading the picture past the original and it was better than 1080p but not really 4k and that only took an hour. WOW!!! Now it's Saturday and I'm watching games from my Uverse DVR 1080i feed and they are simply amazing looking on this fantastic Oled TV and it hasn't even been a full day yet. Not 4k but between 1080p and 4k and I am so happy I purchased this XBR65A8H because I have the most amazing viewing that is so much better than my crystal clear plasma set and I still haven't even touched any of the settings. I can't attest to the longevity of this item but for what I paid which was 2 grand I couldn't have bought a better TV at that price or even a higher price. I don't like the facial tones on the Samsungs and think that they really are kicking the pooch on that because they just never look right on their TVs. Not even the newer ones do they ever look right and even the displays have that problem and that's why they always show cartoon movies I guess when the display is on. The LG Oleds do better but the shadows have slight steps as the grays go to black and the Sony A8H do not have those steps. They are perfect actually for my old eyes to watch and study so the LG CX was out of my list because of that. All my statements are my OPINIONS only and I don't use special equipment to check this stuff out and only use my eyes. But for some reason my brother agreed with everything I showed him at Best Buy a month ago and he picked this TV as the best for his eyes also. My brother is honest when we are discussing things like this and he never paid over $400 for a TV in his entire life and he's almost as old as me!! But he paid $2000 for this TV and the day the price fell he was waiting at the door for them to open up so he could by this expensive TV. I was surprised that he was watching the price EVERY day and he told me that later while we were talking. This unit impressed him that much and this was the only TV he planned to buy and he planned that soon as I showed it to him at Best Buy. I'm going to let the TV just have the colour and settings that it wants to have for the first week and then I will start investigating the settings. All I can say is if this TV impresses you as much as it impresses me and my brother then you should buy it. If you can't afford it I would say to save your money and get it because you will really like it when you own one like I do and my brother does. I'm so very sorry if my review is so long and boring but I just wanted to let some of this amazing stuff out of me. I do have a Onkyo 7.1 surround system that I bought in 2011 and it still works perfectly. I have Klipsch R-625FA front speakers that have Atmos speakers built into the top of the towers and I have never been able to take advantage of that since my receiver doesn't have Atmos. I bought the front speakers about four months ago and bought the R-52 center speaker at the same time. I got the new sides and rear speakers a month later and they are the Klipsch RP-402S and they are absolutely amazing. I purchased the Klipsch R-112SW which is a 12 inch subwoofer with a 300 watt RMS amp built into it and that can shake your house apart!!. I plan on pulling the trigger and purchasing a new receiver that can pass 4k signals with all the best new sound and Dolby Atmos. I will need a 9 channel receiver this time since I will be making use of the Atmos speakers on the top of my front towers finally!!! I studied all about TVs and what I wanted for most likely my final TV for over a year and this XBR65A8H Oled ended up being my dream TV and I can tell you I wasn't wrong about it a bit!! IT IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING and I haven't even started playing with it or adjusted it to perfection yet. All I can say is get which one looks the best to you while playing at a price level that you can live with. Take care and have a fantastic week my friend!!

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5I bought the LG CX and kept it for several weeks .I was no stranger to LG Oled ‘s had one previously . Everytime I went into Best Buy I was drawn to the Sony, I could see more detail, the LG had a little more pop to it, but I prefer more detail.. I ran into the Sony Rep who there.. great guy ! He pointed out a few things and confirmed my opinions on the Sony... 3 days later the Geek guys delivered my new Sony and it’s a difference. Paired with the Panasonic UB 9000, it is a sight to behold, Blu rays look like 4K discs. Just buy it, you won’t regret !

The best display since Plasma

Quality5 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Words cannot replicate how in love I am with my new display unit ! First I want to say that I got the best experience from the knowledgeable staff that took the time to not only go over the basic differences from the 65” TV sets, they also explained the most in depth differences as well from display angles to color spectrum ! Thanks to Dallas and the Sony rep who was able to give a fair and honest opinion for each tv at the Alliance store. Do I need hdmi 2.1 ? No this tv will never have a gaming console connected to it as it is strictly for some news programs and UHD 4K streaming services and my 4K Blu-ray player. Yes I have the high end hdmi cables. This is the most beautiful display I have ever seen in my life coming straight out of the box ! I was shocked at how true to life the picture performs. I spent the next few hours calibrating each individual input for their use and picture quality and it is pure perfection. I am glad I chose this tv and anyone else who picks it up will understand exactly what I am talking about. Now to talk about the only hiccup that the tv gave me but was an easy fix. The initial networking flaw for internet. After researching it seemed to be a firmware issue that keeps you from being able to establish a connection to your home network. It can be remedied with a switch from DHCP to static IP and entering your preferred DNS settings or even easier just going into your settings menu and selecting reset for a clean boot up ( just like a PC). After all this TV set has an android operating system and a killer lightning fast processor. Not a deal breaker at all. Just to summarize I would say this has got to be the best tv I have ever owned in my life. I am amazed.

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Outstanding television! By far the best tv I've ever owned. Used for a theater room. Picture is excellent, sound is good. Being a casual gamer, I have not used it with a game system but I'm sure it will be great. Will be moving my PS4 Pro upstairs soon to know for sure. I was surprised to find out that the Android TV interface was pretty good. I still believe Roku is best but Android TV gets it done.

Q: QuestionI am considering buying an OLED tv and have looked at the A9G, A8G and the A8H. The A8H is considerably more expensive that the A8G and not much less that the A9G. What would make it worth the extra $$.
Asked by SonyFan.
- A:Answer A8H and A9G has X1 Ultimate while A8G has X1 Extreme processor. Processing Speed of Ultimate is double than the Extreme.

Q: QuestionI just setup my 65 A8H. How do you get it to upscale HD content coming in from cable to 4K? My A8H doesn’t seem to be doing it? Please help. Thanks
Asked by SharNorwalk.
- A:Answer TV processor converts all sources to 3840 x 2160 (4K) as that is the only picture it can show. Original 4K sources ( such as 4K Blu-ray's or 4K clips) would look the best. Hi-Def 1920 x 1080 (1080i) or 720p cable or Blu-ray sources will not look as good, and SDR such as regular DVD's (480p) would look the worst; even though all of these would be displayed as 3840 x 2160 (4K) .

Q: QuestionWhen I compare the Sony XBR 65A8G (2019) with the Sony XBR 65A8H (2020), one of the differences in the SPECS tables are the 8G has analog audio out and headphone jack while the 8H shows only a headphone jack. Are they really the same - look that way?

- A:Answer Don’t know about G but H has this hole for audio and a symbol across from it that is a headphone
