I pulled the trigger and got the best!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this item in the 65 inch size for my living room. I bought it on March 16 and didn't have a way to bring it home with me so I ended up picking it up on March 19. My brother had bought the same TV from Best Buy in Holland an hour before I bought my TV and I didn't know that until I called him to tell him that it was on sale. I took him to Best Buy on Alpine almost a month ago and showed him all the different TVs that they had and explained what to look for. I explained and showed him the cons and pros of every manufacturer and he kept going back to this XBR65A8H saying that he never saw such a perfect picture. Before I went to Best Buy to purchase this TV I called my brother to tell him about the sale price and he laughed telling me he was getting it out of his truck about ten minutes before I called. He said to give him a couple hours and he would try to make time to come over and I said to him just have fun and we could pick it up Friday. My brother helped me Friday and we picked up and brought the item home in the back of his pickup. Once we got to my house we took my 12 year old LG 60 inch plasma TV off the wall mount and put it standing up in the truck's back seat strapping it in good so we could use it in the party area of the garage at his place in Holland. I took the rest of the old wall mount off the wall and put that in the truck also. That plasma screen TV was heavy for this old man since I'm damaged and handicapped but the box that had the Sony in it was quite a bit lighter. We brought that in the house and slid the box off of the top and he had it ready to pick up from the rest of the box in a few minutes. He already did his Tuesday so he already knew how to do it all since he had experience from doing his TV. My brother told me how to pick it up and gave me the stand foot for my side and explained how to insert it. I was amazed how easy it was to put the stand up into the unit and we had it on my TV stand below where I was going to mount it when my mount arrived. We had it plugged in on the stand in less than five minutes after we brought the box in the house. I ended up unplugging all the HDMI cables from my Onkyo receiver since it was too old to pass 4k and plugged them into the new TV along with a simple Toslink optical to connect it all to the Onkyo. I sat down with the remote control and turned off the Onkyo since I knew it would take time to get the surround system sorted out again with the new TV and decided I would do that later. I turned on the TV and went through the steps it wanted to do and it surprised me that my 1080i feed from my Uverse looked worse than it looked on my old plasma set. I switched inputs to my Roku Ultra and went to HBO and pulled up a 24k movie and started it and the picture was amazing!!! I didn't even do any adjusting yet and the settings for colour and picture was still out of the box settings and that picture was as fantastic as the feed at Best Buy looked on the display unit. All I could say was oh my gosh wow as I watched part of the movie and knew I bought the best TV I would probably ever buy. I went back to the Uverse feed and started watching a game I had on the DVR and about an hour later I suddenly noticed something really amazing. I still hadn't touched any settings and what I suddenly noticed was that the feed had slowly gotten better and it was already better than my plasma. The lower resolution AI had already started learning and changing the feed slowly upgrading the picture past the original and it was better than 1080p but not really 4k and that only took an hour. WOW!!! Now it's Saturday and I'm watching games from my Uverse DVR 1080i feed and they are simply amazing looking on this fantastic Oled TV and it hasn't even been a full day yet. Not 4k but between 1080p and 4k and I am so happy I purchased this XBR65A8H because I have the most amazing viewing that is so much better than my crystal clear plasma set and I still haven't even touched any of the settings. I can't attest to the longevity of this item but for what I paid which was 2 grand I couldn't have bought a better TV at that price or even a higher price. I don't like the facial tones on the Samsungs and think that they really are kicking the pooch on that because they just never look right on their TVs. Not even the newer ones do they ever look right and even the displays have that problem and that's why they always show cartoon movies I guess when the display is on. The LG Oleds do better but the shadows have slight steps as the grays go to black and the Sony A8H do not have those steps. They are perfect actually for my old eyes to watch and study so the LG CX was out of my list because of that. All my statements are my OPINIONS only and I don't use special equipment to check this stuff out and only use my eyes. But for some reason my brother agreed with everything I showed him at Best Buy a month ago and he picked this TV as the best for his eyes also. My brother is honest when we are discussing things like this and he never paid over $400 for a TV in his entire life and he's almost as old as me!! But he paid $2000 for this TV and the day the price fell he was waiting at the door for them to open up so he could by this expensive TV. I was surprised that he was watching the price EVERY day and he told me that later while we were talking. This unit impressed him that much and this was the only TV he planned to buy and he planned that soon as I showed it to him at Best Buy. I'm going to let the TV just have the colour and settings that it wants to have for the first week and then I will start investigating the settings. All I can say is if this TV impresses you as much as it impresses me and my brother then you should buy it. If you can't afford it I would say to save your money and get it because you will really like it when you own one like I do and my brother does. I'm so very sorry if my review is so long and boring but I just wanted to let some of this amazing stuff out of me. I do have a Onkyo 7.1 surround system that I bought in 2011 and it still works perfectly. I have Klipsch R-625FA front speakers that have Atmos speakers built into the top of the towers and I have never been able to take advantage of that since my receiver doesn't have Atmos. I bought the front speakers about four months ago and bought the R-52 center speaker at the same time. I got the new sides and rear speakers a month later and they are the Klipsch RP-402S and they are absolutely amazing. I purchased the Klipsch R-112SW which is a 12 inch subwoofer with a 300 watt RMS amp built into it and that can shake your house apart!!. I plan on pulling the trigger and purchasing a new receiver that can pass 4k signals with all the best new sound and Dolby Atmos. I will need a 9 channel receiver this time since I will be making use of the Atmos speakers on the top of my front towers finally!!! I studied all about TVs and what I wanted for most likely my final TV for over a year and this XBR65A8H Oled ended up being my dream TV and I can tell you I wasn't wrong about it a bit!! IT IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING and I haven't even started playing with it or adjusted it to perfection yet. All I can say is get which one looks the best to you while playing at a price level that you can live with. Take care and have a fantastic week my friend!!

The BEST TV I've ever owned by far!
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In my 45 years of life this is by far thee BEST TV I have ever owned! The picture quality is freaking AMAZING! The build and look has a high end feel. Before I purchased I did a lot of research from YouTube and count less review sites and they all were pretty spot-on. The images are super crisp and I dare say better than seeing it in reality. What amazes me most is the true black. I love watching the credits in movies and how the screen looks off except for the names being shown. It also has a screen saver that shows beautiful scenery so even when it's idle you still see the quality of the images. Not only is the picture incredible but the sound system is also amazing, you don't need a sound bar to watch shows, the bass is excellent and so are the mid and highs. Sometimes I would turn off my sound bar because I prefer the stock speakers. I mean who says that? Lastly the screen can be viewed at any angle which is perfect for those sitting on the side couch. (Refer to the pictures) I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this for anyone looking for a quality entertainment for experience.

Best upscaling
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am watching cable TV and sports 80% of my time, sometimes Netflix so i am very picky, i wanted TV with awesome upscaling. in last 2 weeks, I tested at home 65Z9F, 75Z9F, 65B9, 65A8G and finally 65A8H. Netflix looks amazing on all TVs above. Upscaling cable TV on A8G and A8H is on different level then other TVs, it is just amazing Picture quality is a little bit better on A8H then A8G, but both awesome TVs. If you want to save few hundred dollars buy A8G, it is awesome TV. Remote controller is better on A8H, WIFI seems to be more stable on A8H, sounds is perfectly fine on both. If you are watching cable TV and you want incredible upscaling this TV is for you. If you mostly streaming, you can find cheaper TVs and you will be perfectly fine. Love this TV, not even mad that i spent almost $3000

They Got It Right!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally walked in to Best Buy with sole intentions of purchasing the LG CX 65 inch, but a funny happened, I spoke with one of the video representatives. As I was trying to gear up for the next gen consoles, and I realized the pricing on all these great televisions including the Sony’s. And realized that LG CX was geared towards gamers. Not that I’m not a gamer but I’m an occasional gamer I’m not into online game play deeply. I’m more into cinema I love movies, broadcast football games, etc. And I currently own an LG C8 which has an incredible tv by the way, and absolutely no so-called burn in or image retention issues AT All!!! I get so tired of all this the sky is falling fear mongering about OLED TVs they fantastic televisions! I used to sell them at HHGREGG!!!! But I’d been keeping my eye on the Sony’s for sometime and so when they started advertising they’re Black Friday prices I said whoa!!! And I swerved into this Awesome A8H!!!!! And my God!! The picture quality along with Sony’s processing has to be experienced to believed!!!! I hear a lot of people complaining about it’s lack of 2.1 Hdmi and the 120 hz for gaming, I game but I’m not one of these Call Of Duty hardcore gamers. The set suits me just fine! I’m a realist, I know exactly who this television was meant for, and it is for people like myself who enjoy films and HDR content at its best!!!! Oh almost forgot the incredible absolute black levels!!!! And I thought the C8’s blacks were awesome!!!! My C8 LG is a 55 inch by the way....... I’ve been wanting a 65 inch OLED forever so this incredible set of coincidences to be able to purchase this colossal set!! These televisions in my opinion are well worth the price because of what I get for my money and that just an amazing consistent picture! What are You waiting for!!!!

Sony is the best
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The color and clarity pop on this tv. Watching sports and movies is incredible. The sound is very good but could use a touch more bass. I have a Sony sound bar and subwoofer from a previous Sony tv but it blocks the bottom of the tv for the remote, even when using the stands at the higher level. Two minor items won’t hold me back. Sony’s OLED is worth it. It is well worth buying a quality item for something that you will use for years.

||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just had this tv delivered and installed last week and have to say "wow". This TV is awesome and I love the OLED technology. The Picture is so crisp and clear and it looks great in my living room. I bought the 65" and thought it would over power my small living room but it looks amazing. I also bought the Sony wall mount which I love. I like that the TV doesn't stick out too much and is more flush with the wall, unlike other brackets that tend to stick out more. Overall, I could not be happier with my choice. Even my geek squad agent was in love with it. BTW, kudos to geek squad for doing a great job installing it.

Q: QuestionI am considering buying an OLED tv and have looked at the A9G, A8G and the A8H. The A8H is considerably more expensive that the A8G and not much less that the A9G. What would make it worth the extra $$.
Asked by SonyFan.
- A:Answer A8H and A9G has X1 Ultimate while A8G has X1 Extreme processor. Processing Speed of Ultimate is double than the Extreme.
Answered by Anonymous
Q: QuestionI just setup my 65 A8H. How do you get it to upscale HD content coming in from cable to 4K? My A8H doesn’t seem to be doing it? Please help. Thanks
Asked by SharNorwalk.
- A:Answer TV processor converts all sources to 3840 x 2160 (4K) as that is the only picture it can show. Original 4K sources ( such as 4K Blu-ray's or 4K clips) would look the best. Hi-Def 1920 x 1080 (1080i) or 720p cable or Blu-ray sources will not look as good, and SDR such as regular DVD's (480p) would look the worst; even though all of these would be displayed as 3840 x 2160 (4K) .
