    Personal Review: Sony Bravia 8

The Sony Bravia 8 is a TV that truly delivers on its promise of stunning visuals and a premium viewing experience. The OLED panel produces breathtakingly deep blacks, vibrant colors, and an overall picture quality that feels cinematic. Whether you’re watching movies, sports, or playing games, the clarity and detail stand out. One of my favorite features is the Google TV interface. It’s intuitive and gives easy access to all streaming platforms, making it a breeze to switch between apps. The TV’s design is sleek and modern, blending seamlessly into any room setup. On the gaming side, the support for 4K at 120Hz and VRR means fast-paced action feels smooth and responsive, which is a huge plus for any gamer. However, I did notice the TV could struggle in extremely bright rooms since it doesn’t quite reach the brightness levels of some competitors. Overall, the Bravia 8 strikes a great balance between performance and value, making it a perfect choice for anyone looking to upgrade their home entertainment system without breaking the bank.

What would you expect from a Sony Bravia 8 TV? Great picture? Great sound? Great connectivity? This model has all that and more. Beautifully styled, thin, light weight. It’s a great choice for any place in your home. I mounted mine on a wall in our bedroom, replacing an older 55” set, and we couldn’t be happier. I have a JBL Bar 5 soundbar already in place in there, but I did listen to the TV speaker output. It is plenty good enough to stand on its own. If the soundbar ever gives up the ghost, I won’t need to replace it. The attached pictures are from DirecTV, Roku and a couple of Blu-ray movies played on a Sony 4K blu-ray player. Consistent quality across all inputs is evident. I primarily use Roku for streaming apps, but this set seems to have plenty of capacity for onboard app storage, should that be your preference. The one slight disappointment is the remote. It lacks a backlight and a separate button to directly select an input source. As is, you must go into settings first to select a source. Not a big deal, but it could be more user-friendly. Still, this model is a great option if you are looking for a superior 65” set at a less-than-top-tier price.

Hi MikeJL, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with your Sony BRAVIA 8 TV. We're thrilled to hear that you're satisfied with the picture quality, sound, and connectivity, and it's great to know the design fits your style! Regarding the remote, while the bundled remote doesn’t feature a backlight, we have good news—you can upgrade to a premium backlit remote. We recommend checking out the RMFTX910U or RMFTX920U models, both compatible with your TV. Additionally, you may find this link helpful for directly selecting inputs on your remote: https://helpguide.sony.net/tv/lusltn1/v1/en-003/01-07-05_02.html Thank you for choosing Sony, and enjoy your BRAVIA experience! - Maria Sony_US

Excellent product. Aside from the functionality of this TV, which includes a lot of standard features, the absolute black is a headache saver for someone who is sensitive to light. The picture quality is top notch. My husband is partially color blind and so we see depth and definition on screen differently. This TV allows him to see the depth of the image on screen and the absolute black technology prevents headaches for me. I also like that the TV speaker has decent sound quality. Win win win!

Sony Bravia 8 is an excellent TV. I'm using it in a living room home theater setup. So far, brightness has not been an issue, unlike some reviewers stated. Maybe they didn't give the TV enough time to break in. Dolby Vision HDR content is brighter than standard dynamic and upscaled content. Excent color and dynamic range regardless. Deep inky blacks at all times. The TV speakers are good, but I'm using Hompods for now while I save for a Dolby Atmos setup, such as in a Sony Bravia Theatre or Sonos.

I bought the 65 inch for my man cave in the attic and it displays an incredible picture. The black look fantastic and the upscaling is superior when watching 720 or 1080p. The Elf movie look like 4k. I have last year model in my living room xr77a80. So this is an upgrade. They are a few Sony perks that l will personally look hard to buy a non Sony TV. Google TV is by far the best smart feature. It’s not even close. You dont need Fire stick since you get all the app and features and it at the palm of your hand and dont need extra gadgets. And even thought i really liked the LG G4, their smart Web-Os was non starter for me. I love the ht-a7000 soundbar and you can pair any new Sony tv with Sony soundbar to make the TV as center speaker. When l paired with the 77 inch oled as center speaker with my 7000, it make monster music, very impressive. Granted the 77 inch doesn’t need additional speakers. I also look into pairing my Sony PS5 with the Sony TV. The new Bravia TV come out factory calibrated with Prime video, Netflix and Sony Core which gives the buyers 5 Sony free Movies to chose from old or new movies and a year subscription to use it.

Recently purchased the Sony Bravia 8 - 65" TV from Best Buy (ON SALE). Beautiful picture, but you will need to adjust the picture settings (brightness, gamma, black level, black adjust & so on) - very easy to do. I do highly recommend if on sale. I do wish Sony made a center stand and not the ugly side feet (but glad they made the feet adjustable). The REMOTE sucks! The buttons are way too small, and the remote IS NOT BACKLIT! We ordered two Sony remotes off Amazon that look identical to the remote that comes with the TV, which is backlit and works great. I didn't lower the 5-star rating for the remotes as the picture quality is superb. First OLED we purchased and we are extremely happy with the TV and picture quality.

Beautiful picture and feels pretty premium. Although it’s not as bright as the Bravia II it’s pretty bright once you bring it home. Perfect for movies and good for gaming but the best for picture accuracy. Really nice that Sony gives you panels in the back to protect from dust and feels like a tv that you will last you a long time however, I always recommend a protection plan on a Oled no matter what brand. Lastly there is a a little glare but pretty minimal compared to what else is out there. Photo I attach is with the tv off but you can see. That it’s minimal with the tv off and not noticeable when it’s on. Of course I’m talking about when all lights are on. I’m not washing my hands like goofy.

Love the color and OLED clarity. Perfect blacks are no joke. Sometimes between scenes it looks like the TV turned off. Google platform (android tv) is king and was a consideration when getting a TV. Much cleaner and easier to navigate, which is a preference. Only complaint is the brightness which I think the Bravia ii has addressed with the new panel. Even though we are in a semi-bright room it does struggle a little with indirect sunlight from and adjacent window, but surely still watchable. Covers for the back panel ports are a really nice touch. Upscaling content to 4k content is unmatched with Sonys XR processing, period.

I’ve been waiting to write a review about the specific TV. I went from having a base Samsung crystal UHD TV to the premium Sony Bravia 8 tv. I will say to anyone that buys this specific TV. It is a huge upgrade compared to most TVs that are out on the market. It is quick as great picture quality the sound is great. It truly is one of the very best TVs that you can buy. Just know when you’re looking at this TV or any type of TV that is an Ola TV or a premium TV you will pay a premium price. This TV handles gaming streaming anything you throw at it I have right now all of my HDMI into the TV plugged in with different gaming consoles streaming devices. It handles it all flawlessly. I also have a ethernet cord plugged in for my router into the TV and the Internet is super quick. I am very pleased with this TV. Only real complaint about this TV and all TVs on the market today is the OS operating system on these TVs even the premium TVs like this TV the operating system is kind of laggy and not as quick my solution to that is buying an Apple TV it will quickly fix the issue. In another 5 to 10 years, hopefully Sony LG Samsung and the premium TV makers will find a way to fix the operating system in TVs and make it just as quick as an Apple TV.

The Sony Bravia 8 has a beautiful picture and wonderful sound. The picture is bright, clear and rich and doesn't have the glare that our 8 year old Samsung had. The sound is vibrant and a sound bar isn't necessary. The sound can be configured to the user during setup up using the remote control. We were also looking at the Samsung S90D and the LG C4. Because we don't have cable TV and only stream YouTube, Netflix, Disney, etc, we wanted a smart platform that was streamlined and easy to use. Sony's Google TV platform is easy to navigate and we don't need Roku anymore! We love our new Sony Bravia 8.

I purchased a Sony 65" Bravia 8 OLED UHD Smart Google TV (2024) in July 2024 after reading extensive reviews of other manufacturers reviews and speaking with Best Buy customer service in store. I purchased this TV soon after it first became available. I owned Samsung and Sony TVs prior to this purchase. I still own a Samsung and Sony TV. Both have provided reliable service for years. I settled with this TV after seeing it on display and comparing with other TVs displayed at Best Buy. I compared Sony with similar Samsung and LG TVs. The reviews and comparisons I read provided customer issues with the reliability of current similar Samsung TVs. Reliability was also brought up by the Best Buy representatives during three visits to the store. I do use the sound from the TV as the AVR to provide sound. Pros: 1. Clarity in viewing with vivid colors. 2. Great viewing at night with no other lights on. 3. Black and dark colors are impressive. 4. Ease of use of remote and programming. Cons: 1. Not good in a highly lighted space due to screen reflection of room lighting. 2. Pricy

When I got this, Tv was a little reluctant sign in between Samsung and LG because on the floor room they did look a little bit brighter however I haven’t had a Sony that is still going after 18 years and much research. I realize the bill quality is incredible. I bought this brought it home. I have it in the bedroom and it’s a matter of fact I have to bring down the brightness depending on the movie because it is too bright for my eyes image quality. It’s great. It is so good. I have taken a video off the TV. Send it to someone and they thought it was real Additionally, the sound it’s incredible. The operating system from chrome it’s great seamless to use not clunky like Samsung and LG.

The Sony Bravia 8 OLED TV is incredible. The picture is razor-sharp with deep blacks and vibrant colors—movies and sports look amazing. The sound coming from the screen itself is surprisingly powerful and clear, so I don’t even need a soundbar. It’s sleek, easy to use with Google TV, and perfect for gaming thanks to HDMI 2.1 and super-smooth motion. If you want a TV that feels truly cinematic at home, this is it.

I would recommend this to a friend

      Hi RobD!
We are thrilled to hear that you're so happy with your new BRAVIA 8. It’s fantastic to know the OLED technology is delivering that razor-sharp picture with deep blacks and vibrant colors for all your favorite movies and sports.

We're especially glad you're noticing the great sound from the screen itself, thanks to our Acoustic Center Sync technology and that the gaming features are working so well for you.

We appreciate you choosing Sony and giving us such a fantastic review!
      Best regards,
