This is my first 4K TV and I have to analyze a lot before coming to final decision. Best Buy team members have depth knowledge in explaining this TV features and they are very courteous during purchase. This has got the best colors, HDR and voice control feature in remote which is really helpful during search options. The price is little more compared to other competitors like LG and Samsung...but SONY is the number one brand when comes to TV to my perspective

I'm no expert, but I did some homework and for the money, this is a solid winner. Yes, if I could afford it I'd buy an Oled tv, but that's way too expensive. This one has many capabilities of the more expensive tv's that Sony makes, but is the more affordable choice. I've had two Sharp 40 and 50 inch 1080p and a Westinghouse 55 inch 4K tv. They don't come close to this Sony 65 4K HDR. No blur on motion scenes, the color is fantastic and if it's not bright enough for you, you can adjust the black levels. Yes this lowers the contrast a little but that's the price you pay on any tv when you turn up the brightness. Overall I'm very happy with this tv. You need to make picture adjustments to get it the way you want, but that's the whole point. It can deliver what you want. Works good with a PS4 and an Apple TV.

I like Sony brand. I have two Sony HDTV and both have been fantastic so when the Sony 65 4K was on sale on black Friday, I bought it. The picture is so crisp and the apps are easy to access with the remote control. Even my 5 yrs old can use the remote easily. So far the TV has been excellent.

First the bestbuy rep was great. He answered all my questions and was very patient with me. I was between this tv and another one but ultimately decided this was the best choice for me. It was an open box item so i made to sure to purchase the protection for it. I have had it in my house for about a month now and love the picture and 4K quality. If you don't want to spend a ton of money for a great quality tv this is a great option!

    Stunning TV

I recently, purchased this TV, and it continues to amaze. It's very large at 65 inches- dare I say, nearly too large? I know, that's impossible, but this baby is BIG. And beautiful. The pictures is stunningly bright and crisp. I was watching the other day in a sunny room, and realized there was no issue with the brightness on the TV. The picture is sharp and clear, bright and smooth under all circumstances thus far. I mostly stream, and this TV works well for that. I have too many remotes, and the Sony remote is not the easiest or most intuitive, so I do wish I could use it to control my firestick more completely, in order to do away with the remote swapping. Maybe I can, and just haven't figured it out yet. As I recall, setup was a breeze, but there was little documentation provided with the TV. In the end, I didn't need much, but I did feel like I was "winging it" a bit. That said, everything was up and running in minutes, and I've been enjoying this gorgeous TV ever since.

The picture on the TV is superb, the 4K content looks amazing, HDR really does make it look so much better as well. Just be sure to look into the cables you will need, older cables even though they were premium just a year or two ago wouldn’t work for me, I had to get new.

So when it comes to 4K TVs I learned that quality and picture are very important, "upscaling" or viewing non-4K or Standard definition programming can be a headache with some sets - just ask the HORRIBLE VIZIO I returned a short time after purchasing this beauty. I would highly recommend this set! DirecTV ready, so it does NOT need a box to work with existing DTV. Android/Play Store based OS - meaning ALL apps (virtually), especially one specific app that Starts with a "K" and ends with "i", and that users typically need Firesticks and such to download with most other devices, can be downloaded directly to this TV - A HUGE PLUS! The apps that come on it are easily accessible, although I do feel the menu's and app lists are a little difficult to get used to (going from an older Samsung with "Smart Hub") it comes quickly and the remote MORE THAN makes up for the slight learning curve with the menus. In my opinion, this remote is the greatest of all - although some may think its outdated and cheap looking for the price and features of this set (as reviewed by one major tech reviewer) - I LOVE IT! It's not overly complicated, it has a Netflix button and a Google button, voice search capability, multiple menu options and it's easy to handle and maneuver around the TV. For me it was important to have something my 5 yr old daughter, who recently learned how to operate and turn on the old TV, would be able to easily pick up and be able to operate without needing a lot of help. The Netflix button almost guaranteed this would be easy for her! She started getting up on her own, before everybody else basically, and being able to turn the TV on her self and easily navigate to the Netflix profile and content/apps we have set up for her to use and enjoy was a big part of my decision to purchase the TV. ALL the content watched on this TV is AMAZING! Picture quality is fantastic, and my only let down of the whole deal is this - NOT ENOUGH CONTENT. That's not Sony's fault, though. Direct has specific equipment you have to have, including a 4k genie mini and if you want to have this as your main tv and have wireless setups for the rest then you need to have essentially two boxes connected to the same tv right now to enjoy 4K on their service, a lot of other companies offer little or no 4k content via cable/satellite programming, however, apparently if you go that route with DTV at least you have 2-3 channels dedicated to 4k one of which is PPV only, the other is a variety channel with no guarantee as to what may be actually available on it.. meaning - only certain programs or sporting events are broadcast and only certain angles sometimes so the olympics may be on but only some of the angles are 4k and you may have better and more diverse views from the regular program, but just because the olympics is on one day doesn't mean that same channel (Fox for instance) will be available after that's over, the next thing on might be a movie or tv show, maybe a concert, a sporting event, or whatever but no guarantee - it can be from one of virtually any of the other channels just a specific program or movie that is actually available and broadcast in HD - it's not AMC all the time in other words. (Geez - I think I explained it enough - I hope you got it LOL). Back to what's available - I have Netflix, they offer a lot of their own stuff and a bunch of other stuff that is available in 4K - pretty much ALL of their content that they produce, their series, movies, etc. is available in 4K, however, the 4K will run you $11.99 vs the $9.99 or $7.99 packages (mine was an additional $2 per month), AND you have to have fast enough internet to stream that content (speeds of 30mb/s, OR MORE, are REQUIRED). The other app we use a lot is Vudu, unfortunately they offer very little - when it is offered it's UHD and because it's an App where you PURCHASE (or rent) the movies the cost of doing so far outweighs the value of UHD vs their HDX, for instance in many cases instead of ourchasing a movie for their typical $14.99, you would have to either pay $19.99 OR in some cases buy the Disc and Digital copy at an outrageous price of $29.99, BUT I personally love having ownership of the digital copy and have purchased several (over 200, I think) over the last several years a enjoy having them available on all our devices anywhere we go, it comes in handy in the car or on a train, and especially on a plane because you can download it to the device. But, those are really the only two that I USE or HAVE that I can ACTUALLY VIEW 4K CONTENT ON, however, as I said that is going to be the quandry with any device you buy... just remember when you're up there watching that amazing 4K UHD HDR BEAUTIFULLY MASTERED DIGITAL AMAZEMENT that is the store loop/display, that is NOT the pocture you are going to see MOST (if not ALL) the time. With all of that said, I think this device was an AMAZING value for the price, I did own a Vizeo 70" for a short time - which was a glorified Chromecast, NOT A SMART TV as they claim, and the PICTURE? ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! Especially on some of the SD channels offered through our service provider, stations we watch regularly, we would have been happier watching on a B&W set with rabbit ears than we were with viewing on that set. IF you are comparing this model with a Vizio, thinking about getting an extra 5" for a few more bucks in a Vizio E series - PLEASE - DON'T DO IT. At least, I wasn't happy. The Sony has a beautiful display, looks good no matter where we are getting content from, has amazing built in features and apps like Screen Mirroring capabilities and casting capabilities with built in chromecast (I believe - haven't used this feature yet to say for certain), YouTube and trending or popular content available with just a click of the remote, several other free pre-loaded/available apps like Crackle, DirecTV Ready, Netflix, Google Play Music/Movies, Pandora, and more. Remote is AWESOME, IMO and for what I need in a remote. The remote allows you to control DTV as well, obviously, and feels good to handle - its not awkward to reach commonly used buttons, and I think it's sized right for the TV. NICE number of outputs with, I believe, 3 HDMI (I didn't need all of them, possibly 4?), and several others too. Smartphone remote control is available for iOS & Android (both) as well. I have not personally used the 900 series, which apparently features slightly better HDR and a few other small (for me) features for roughly $400-$500 more in a 65" - however, I saw a sale just started with this set being $100 cheaper than I paid (thanks Best Buy price guarantee) OR the 900 Sony for only $400 more. I am within my return period still so I may very well take this bad boy off the wall and try that 900 instead - If I do I will let ya'll know, otherwise, I would recommend this to ANYONE. I think the quality of the picture, the remote, the price, and the features make this the #1 set in this price range ($1300 - $1800). I personally own a 55" Vizio in my BR that I love, which was why I thought I might like the Vizeo - I admittedly thought "size mattered" and got caught up in price vs size and for the first time in my life spent less money on the bigger TV sacrificing quality for the budget and forgetting the golden rule - he that has the Gold, makes the Rules... AND USUALLY the BETTER TV. Quality and price do go hand in hand, more often than not, when it comes to your TV. If you are not a big TV watcher, or don't want to get a lot out of your TV, then you might be happier with something less expensive or with a bigger picture for the same or less money... PERSONALLY, I think this is the best bang for your buck. I have had an LG in the past but nothing new enough to comment on and for me Samsung has always been the "Go-To" for TVs. I always liked their UI, their picture, their look and feel, however, this time the SONY pulled me a way. They've been more expensive than Samsungs in the Past, and I have always been happy with the Samsungs I purchased, but this time the price was the same (or close enough) that I went for the SONY. In my opinion, I think Samsung has started charging more over the past several years and giving you LESS for that money...and some may argue, but I feel their MU8000 is inferior to this set... I had considered it and was leaning heavily toward it but the overall look and feel of everything including remote and UI made the Sony a slam dunk in my book! Honestly, I think Samsung has done nothing more than try to pull people in with these "gimmicks" over the last several years, and I think it's frustrating. Things on their phones like "heart beat monitors" (how many times did you actually use that as an avg user - thank god I had one of them!), the TVs with the "curved display" that they try to make a big deal out of, "gimmicks" that I feel are far less important than making a GOOD QUALITY, Well BUILT Electronics with just outstanding features and an amazing user experience. Show me the stuff that matters EVERY DAY, not silly stuff that makes the neighbors say, "hey, did u hear Bob got one of them new fangled curved TVs.. must be nice, to not have anything better to waste ur money on than a curved tv, what sense does that make?!" ... LOL We all got that neighbor, don't we? Honestly, the only real downside was it took 45 mins for intial setup, downloads, and to update of everything , but more often than not, it seems this is the norm with Smart TV's these days - a typical 30-60 min setup time. At the end of the day, unless the 900 proves far superior (if I go & get it.. I'm still on the fence... I hoped to decide by the end of this review), I can't imagine there being a huge noticeable difference - THEN THIS IS THE BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUDGET! Honestly, for $1500 this set is an HDR 4K 65" Smart TV, is thin, light weight (I thought), and bears the badge of a well known, highly regarded name in electronics.. I'd buy it again!

First out of all, I had an excellent salesman that took a lot of time to steer me to the right TV for me. I got an open box on a sale item. I have looked around since and haven't seen a better buy. I was waiting for the prices on OLED TV's to go down but couldn't wait. However I love this TV. One of the measures of a good television to me is a black black. This has it. I'm getting a great picture off of an antenna feed. The bluRay signal is incredible and the TV is very intuitive. I haven't had a chance to dial in the best picture yet or set everything up but it looks great and the voice control is nice too. I believe that there are 5 total HDMI connections but I could use a couple more. I know... Sound on the TV is adequate. I'm using a Bose CD player until we get a system.Overall I'm very satisfied

This TV was a few hundred more than the LG black friday teaser but well worth it. Excellent motion smoothness, great color and brightness and the HDR helps but is not a key player in the decision to buy. Sony is rated better than the others on reliability and in other electronics I have always trusted the quality. A great TV at a fair price.

I considered both LG and Samsung comparable 4K UHD models. For the slight difference in price, the Sony 850E was worth the money. I use a LG Atmos Sound bar and have a Xfinity set top box. The Sony recognized and controls them both via the hand held remote. The picture quality is excellent and set up was a breeze. Some of the reviewers at the professional AV sites complained about off angle viewing. I have not noticed that to be a problem in my living room. Sports and high speed action scene picture quality are both excellent right out of the box. I will get around to tuning the picture quality eventually, but I do not feel any sense of urgency as the picture quality out of the box (factory settings) was pretty good.

Very good tv unboxing and setup is a breeze. I do not use the smart tv functions as I have Apple TV and stereo head unit. Many people have said the tv is a little slow but if you don’t use it for the smart functions then there is nothing to worry about. Not sure I care for TVs having built in audio and smart apps built in anyway as they are always slow and does not sound good. Colors are vivid and pop. I looked up a lot of comparisons of the 850 with the 900 and this does not have local dimming and peak brightness like the 900 does. To tell you the truth I can’t tell that much of a difference and it clearly is better on all levels than my 5 year old 55 inch Sony Bravia. I couldn’t be happier.

Picture, build quality and price are excellent. I found the menus within the TV to lag at times. The sensor for the remote control is mounted low and our soundbar blocked so we had to raise the TV an inch or so. We use a Klipsch RSB-11 soundbar and at times the TV does not communicate with the bar and we have no sound. I'm hoping a future software update will take care of this. Otherwise we like the TV.

This TV has changed my movie/show/gaming experiences for the better. I went from a Toshiba 720i 26 inch TV to this behemoth! The sound on this television is great. Although the the Best Buy blue shirt emphasized on sound bars and their importance, the speakers on this TV suffice as I have yet to even reach the halfway point of the volume spectrum. The picture is bright and the variety of colors is obvious when compared to my living room 1080 HD television. It is difficult to sit in the living room now knowing this bad boy is sitting in the bedroom waiting for me. Even simply viewing a film on DVD is different. The upscaling is awesome! And when viewing content in 4k via Amazon prime, the image looks near 3d. I'm happy with this product.

Excellent picture with 4K, DVD, HD DTV, PS4..... non HD channels are pixelated and not as clear as stated above. Because of that I give it a 4 star. Coming from a Samsung Plasma that I love. Refresh rate is good some blur with sports. Overall a great TV, easy to hook up and add sound bar to. Love the options and number of inputs. Really wanted the X900E but couldn't pass up this price and quality.
