Overpriced
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overpriced and has reduced in cost $300 since my purchase. Comparable to less expensive LG brand and not as good as my current Pioneer Elite 60”.

Impressive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To start this off, I'm not one to write reviews simply because I usually read previous reviews by other owners that either highlight points of praise or derision better than I can properly put into a paragraph. However, I'll make an exception here. To be transparent, I deal with a lot of TVs. Yes, I've played with LG's offerings of OLEDs, Samsung's QLEDs and so on. I'm certainly no expert, however I do have some experience in each and could probably give a detailed explanation of each of the major company's offerings. Onto the subject at hand, I believe the Sony OLED is the best "compromise" of the current OLED offerings at this time. What people need to understand and many people who are thinking of buying this probably have done their research, the Sony A1E uses the same panel as LG; simply due to LG championing OLED technology. Other than that similarity, it's all Sony's goodies. When I said the Sony A1 is the best "compromise" is due to the nature of the OLED panel. OLED, by nature, cannot produce higher levels of brightness that LED can create. This is the case with the LG and Panasonic's offering. LG has decided to stick with a lower brightness level to enhance detail and retain the black levels that we'd expect from OLED. Sony has gone with a slightly different tact. They decided to go with a picture with more brightness but with the slight downside that it "washes" out some detail in the process. You might ask why. The short answer is that a balance has to be struck between detail and brightness. OLED, by nature, is dark. It cannot output a high nit count like LEDs. Therefore, Sony had to make a conscious decision to brighten their picture but had to lose some detail. LG, on the other hand, decided to try for a more natural OLED picture, opting for more detail but less brightness. Personally, I prefer Sony's route simply because I desire a slightly brighter picture. Quite honestly, you could not notice it unless you have LG and Sony side by side for a comparison and even then, it is only very minor differences. My point here is to say while both companies offer the same panel, each have gone a different route in terms of how to display a picture from a given source. My opinion on it is that Sony was trying to appease owners of 4k blu-ray, as well as most normal users who are used to LED's perks of higher brightness. This word vomit I spewed was leading to this: the Sony A1 delivers a gorgeous picture with the blackest blacks and the whitest whites to make everything in between pop in color and while delivering the X1 Extreme's ability to compute quickly for the user experience. The chipset, in my opinion, pushes the A1 above the LG OLED due to its ability to handle motion better than the LG. In my testing, faster moving objects seemed more natural on the Sony and while doing so, I saw little, if at all, any ghosting or flickering. And to top it off, I'm surprised in how much I'm grown to like the physical look of the TV. At first, I was skeptical of the look of the TV; I was originally disliking how it sat like a picture frame. It seemed, at first, like it was angled upwards at angle, making it odd once you are sitting down so that you had to look slightly up. However, I got over it and actually started to like it. Now, I actually mounted the TV and the simply bezel design is quite sleek and I'm a fan of the minimalistic look. Is it pricey? Absolutely Is it worth it? If you desire the best of what the market can currently offer you and are willing to pay the piper, absolutely. Props, Sony. I've seen and experienced many TVs these past years, but this one you've really outdone yourself.

Failed after 3 months
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great looking picture, but just like my other Sony 65” TV it failed within a short period. Sony had to special ship a new TV to the house. One tv failure, ok two failures very disapointing. You would think when you pay a lot of $$$ for the best you get the best, sony’s quality is questionable, and their replacement process is VERY POOR. The new (used) replacement arrived damaged and dusty after missing their first delivery date and time.
