Super Value For The Money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this Sony universal remote recently and for 20 bucks, a great value. No frills, 7 function remote and it does all I ask of it. I wasn't looking for anything fancy, just wanted to use 1 remote and retire 4 others to the kitchen drawer. So what does it do? Simply turns on/off my TV, Amp, DVD unit, and cable box. It was easy to program but there is a little learning curve to seamlessly navagate the various menus of the devices. But that is overcome in an hour or two. So glad I didn't spend big money for a universal remote for features I wouldn't use in a lifetime. If you want a basic universal, this is the one.

PERFECTION
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My first review ever PERFECTION, FINALLY a universal remote that works, for a great price. i have bought maybe 5 in the last 10 years and tried all including tech support. i had 2 sony items, already preset and one panasonic and one motorola. it is a little bulky, don't care and one set of instructions was wrong. one did not say to hit the menu button and indeed you need to. i will purchase another one as a backup. very excited after years of buying and following directions.

Good to single up
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this little remote when my cable remote starter acting funky and I just wanted to have one. It works well for the most part. I like that the strength seems to be good and the signal seems strong to all the devices. Has buttons to power on devices and using this button switches you to that control. So I use the TV power button and now need to switch back to cable for channel selection, otherwise, the TV is trying to switch channels. Wish it just sent the power request and left it the way it was last, for cable for example. Same with buttons like power, I need to choose TV from cable to get the power. I understand this one, but wish I could somehow assign the power to work just for the TV. Did I mention no back light? I miss this feature when I am trying to change something when I have the lights out. I would recommend it for the price. It was just about the lowest price device and worked well right out of the box.

a universal remote that WORKS...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've gone through many remotes trying to find one that actually controls the functions on my tv and not just the power-channel-volume functions (I've got a 42 Insignia)...This works, and it controls my receiver, and dvd player...this remote is awesome, it actually controls everything and is probably the best investment under $20 that I've put into my entertainment set-up...Buy it, it is worth more than the actual price...

PERFECT for me!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was relatively easy to set up. One thing to be sure you do, read the manual! Most importantly to me was adjusting the volume on my Bose, when it still being in CBL mode, so I didn't have to keep switching between modes/hitting buttons. READ the ADJUSTING THE VOLUME instructions! Such a life saver! So happy that I purchased this product. I will surely suggest this remote to anyone and everyone who asks! Am looking to get two more for the rest of the house!

decent remote for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.got this remote because i purchased a display model that did not include a remote. since it was also a sony, i figured no programming would be needed. i was right. worked right out of the box, no programming needed. the big drawback is its missing a few buttons that are necessary to my sony, mainly the scene button. this was a big thing to me because my computer updated its video card driver and the new driver forced the TV into a different scene mode and as a result , i had black bars on the top and sides. i rolled back to the previous driver, all is well. the scene button would stretch it how i want, but this remote does not have that :\

Wonderful for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For $20 this is the best I've found for a universal remote. I am using it with a Sony TV and Sony BD player (all functions are pre-programmed in), a Sony CT150 speaker bar system (not pre-programmed), an XBox 360, Motorola cable box, and an AppleTV. The dance to learn commands is a little involved, but after some work, I've got it just perfect. It has 3 IR blasters in it, so I dont even have to point it at the devices, it juste bounces around the room and works! There should be more options for adding pauses in your macro programming to allow for the slow TV startup, I can't use the macros to start the TV, set the input, and turn on the cable box, but life goes on. I'll upgrade to a nice Logitech Harmony remote one of these days, but you cant beat this much functionality and quality for $20.

Very Good
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great remote. My boyfriend easily set it up and now I use one remote on all my devices (TV, cable and DVD). The only thing is you have to learn what button mean what on the remote, because its not an exact match to any of my other remotes.

ok
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this remote online and it looks a lot smaller online than it actually is. I have small hands and my children use it a lot too. My old one was much slimmer and shorter. I also use subtitles alot and I couldn't figure out how to use this feature. It's the sleep button. But it's not marked like on most remotes I have seen/used. I think the buttons could have better placement also. Otherwise I think it's a good remote for the price.

Outstanding Remote
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this remote for one reason only, I washed my other one in a load of laundry. After several attempts with trying to get it to dry out and changing batteries I gave up. So I went looking for a new remote and a Best Buy associate pointed this one out. I really didnt want to pay alot for a new remote, so this was the best bang for the buck out there. Programming took no time at all, and out of all the remotes I have ever used (and this isnt the first time I have washed a remote) this was by far the easiest and quickest remote I have ever seen. I would recommed this remote to anyone, and I will more then likely be buying another one once I wash my living room remote.

Great Remote
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this remote 2 days ago (8-09-08) thinking my original TV remote was going bad. It turned out to be the TV's "EYE" so there goes another purchase in the near future. We are now using the TV through the DVR because that "EYE" still works. We have to do the sound up and down manually though. The remote was very easy to setup. The only drawback is that it doesn't have an "eject" or "open" button for the DVD tray. All in All this was very easy to setup and seems to work very well so far. I'm happy with it and would recomend it.

It works, mostly
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It won't bring up the menu for a Comcast digital cable box. All the other buttons work, Guide, Info, Channel, etc, but the Menu button doesn't do anything. Not sure if it is dead or its just the programming, but I'm not planning to drag back to the store and get another one just to see if it works, we'll assume its a programming issue. If it worked, I'd be pretty thrilled with this unit, but a big fat Menu button that does nothing is kind of a big drawback. Fortunately I still have the cable remote (and Comcast will happily rent me more if needed)_. Regarding setup - It's a little weird that it has two power buttons, 1 for the TV and one for everything else. I'don't know why and I wish it didn't. I couldn't get it to program at all at first, then realized that when I was pressing TV to try to program the code for my TV, I was pressing the TV power button, not the TV mode selection button. Why waste a button just to power on the TV? Silly me, silly Sony.

So far a good remote. Operates all of my equipment
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great device. I've had it now for a week and it works like a champ. It is the first remote control that I have owned where the number of functions actually exceeded (or even matched) the number of items to be controlled. This device fully controls every one of them! I try to keep most of my equipment at a single brand (Sony), so the Sony universal remote was the obvious choice. The one thing that was out of my control was the DirecTV HD Receiver with DVR. This fully controlls that too. My only complaint is that the button contacts wear out too quickly. I have had 3 similar Sony remotes over the past 6 years and I'm sure this one will wear about the same. One bit of advice, Tell your spouse and the kids, just lighlty press on the buttons to operate your chosen device. If it doesn't respond after one or two light presses, then change the batteries. The harder you press on the buttons, the quicker it will wear out.
