Great until a year later.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Prior to the purchase, I reviewed and researched many TV sets - including through online chat forums, youtube videos, and in-store viewings. I arrived on the Sony XBR75900E as the worthy tv for our downstairs media center. The tv is great in every way possible. I purchased the tv back in March of 2018 - a little over a year later, the tv developed a thin, black line spanning the entire horizontal length of the tv screen. Upon a closer look, I noticed an additional line on the very top of the screen. I did many troubleshooting tasks, but nothing proved successful. I have a feeling it has to do with something internal (e.g., t-con board), but it's possibly the panel, which would be unfortunate. I figured a brand new tv shouldn't require geek-squad protection - live and learn. I contacted Sony and we're in the process of resolution. If Sony can help me get this fixed, I will increase my rating. Update: Upon further conversation, Sony extended the manufacturer's warranty as it was just outside of a year of purchase. Sony agreed to take 100% of the repair bill. Hope it all works out! It seems Sony stands by their customers and helps in any way possible. Thanks Sony.

The 65 is better but OLED is truly tops
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a 65 inch... loved it and decided for the 75x900e The 75 had a bad pixel so another was sent... and the second one...no matter what Best Buy. Sony ... or AVS forum could help with, Local dimming sucks The 65 had Zero problems with blacking out most anything... but the 75 didn't translate. As I would move the letters on an On-Screen keyboard (firestick as example) the screen wolf brighten as I went left or right. Same settings as the 65 I was so happy with but a complete fail Bleeding was very noticeable... blooming was worse In Full 16:9 is was great... but when bars or black edging was needed the Sony could not perform I ended up with an LG C7 65 inch OLED I truly have found Nirvana The blacks are unreal, the setup was cake...the remote is so much more friendly and the brights are as good as the Sony if not better because of Contrast Ratios (LED forgets to employee that number when mentioning brightness) Yes Peak I'd brighter on Sony. But in real life...OLED C7 brightness suffers NOTHING I truly love OLED and wish I went there in the first place No regrets on LG Only regrets on SONY

Worked well for 2 years
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We enjoyed the use of this TV while it lasted. Unfortunately after only two years of use the television died. We have been told the screen is bad and can not be replaced. So, must buy a whole new unit. Very disappointed.

Outstanding!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had been on the fence on which 75" 4K TV to buy. I had been looking into Samsung's 9 series for several years, but I don't have that kind of disposable income. I spoke with a co-worker that had worked at Best Buy in a previous life, and he swore by the Sony Bravia line of TVs. The last Sony TV I owned was a 36" Wega CRT, so I had some homework to do. There weren't many reviews for this year's crop of 4K TVs which also made decision making a bit more of a challenge. The mid-range 4K TV from another manufacturer that I had been eyeing for our home theater had mixed reviews. As the reviews of the XBR75X900E started coming in, they were consistently very high. I kept an eye on pricing and pulled the trigger when this set went on sale. I'm extremely happy with my purchase. Even standard HD content is upconverted very well. The wife & I watched Doctor Strange using the Netflix app on the TV last night, which wasn't in native 4K, and you'd be hard pressed to see a difference. Amazing clarity. I was looking for artifacts during the special effects sequences and couldn't see any. The HDR really does make scenes that combine bright lighting and darker subjects appear very realistic. As a fan of plasma technology and the black levels it offers, I'm quite content with the tremendous performance of this TV. It's nice being able to pick up an affordable 4K TV that has so much technology built-in that was only available on the highest-end sets last year.

Nice TV but only last 2.5 years
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great tv but after 2 years we started getting horizontal bars across screen. $1200 to fix. Not worth it for the $3800 purchase price. I'll be looking at LG soon.

OMG Amazing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.WoW!. I bought the 75" 900E and love the set. This T.V. is a little big for the room but the impact of a bigger set is worth it. The one great surprise is the sound which makes dialogue easy to hear and the set includes two down firing subs. They won't rattle the windows but it give the sound more depth making the overall sound way better than any TV I've heard. I downloaded several HDR demo reels on Youtube and the PQ looked exactly like the demo reels in the store. It is unbelievably clear with amazing colors, black levels and clarity. I was shocked. I thought these streaming videos would be compressed and horrible but not do. I read that HDR discs in a player look even better if that is possible. The TV is well designed with tons of options and a great interface. I found the interface to be easy to use and the setup was amazingly efficient and smart. The only caveat is the remote which should light up with bigger buttons, etc. The Google voice search is very accurate and works well. Because the set is Google enabled I was able to view all my uploaded family videos which was very cool. I even have a remote app that controls everything. The set is pretty perfect with the right feed and the right settings. Don't use vivid mode or jack the colors to cartoon proportions. I went online to get general setting and then experimented. You want the blackest black and the whitest white without loosing detail in either extreme. OLED is a great technology but I thought that most of them are really not as bright as I would have liked and they are unrealistically priced in the 75" size. LED is a mature technology. For a lot less u can get an 850E which is edge lit but is also a great set. I went with the 900E because it gets brighter and the blacks are deeper. However, once you get these sets into your home you get use to watching what you have and don't miss what you never had. I'm lucky enough to afford the better set but if money is tight don't hesitate to get the 850E. I looked at the Samsung sets too which are good sets too. My last Plasma which I still like is a Samsung. The HS8000 and HS9000 models for 2016 have the same tech as the top tier non-OLED models this year. The comparably priced Samsung sets for 2017 have inferior to the 900e but not by a lot. I thought about trying to pick up one of the older Samsung sets but they are hard to find with no discounting. In the end I decided to buy local with Bestbuy and to get the 900e which is a great set. I had thought about buying from Abes of Maine, etc. but u have to purchase shipping insurance or you are on your own if the sets comes damaged, broken, etc. I didn't want to chance it. Overall I would suggest this set if you want a 75" behemoth. If you want a 65" or smaller then I would consider the OLED a little closer but in the 75" size the OLED sets are way expensive.
