After spending the better part of a year researching all of the 2018 models, I settled on this 75 inch Sony 900F. While it was pricey, I felt it worth the money. However I was very disappointed with the brightness. As opposed to my LG C8 (which is not a super bright TV), the Sony 900F had a very, very dim picture on any HDR/Dolby Vision content. SDR material works great, but HDR/Dolby Vision was insanely dim. Of course, I made sure the brightness (which is backlight on the Sony TV's) was at max, and the contrast was at max, but I also had to increase the gamma to max just to get an okay picture. Yes, the colors are great and the small highlights work well in HDR, but overall the picture will disappoint right out of the box, and then even after adjustments it's just not very bright. Don't take my word for it, google this issue and you'll see plenty of others who experience the same thing. The brightness (again backlight) only runs 0-50 (as opposed to 0-100 on every other TV model). It's almost like someone forgot to flip the switch and enable the full 0-100 scale on this TV. Real shame. If they released a firmware update to address this or at least commented on plans to do this, I might consider keeping it. Until then, will be returning to Best Buy for another option.

Waited all year for this one. Wife gave permission and we went to purchase it.. Love it...

Friends, I have to caution you not to purchase this TV or any Sony TV at this moment. I currently have five in my household. In November Sony pushed out a firmware update that broke functionality to communicate with CEC devices (basically anything plugged in with HDMI). AppleTV, Blu-ray, PS, Xbox, etc. while you can stream content you cannot control the device or vice versa. Basic function such as powering off the TV won’t work. Even the Sony TV remote won’t reliably turn off the tv. I am forced to wait for the tv to auto shut off each day. There are plenty of people hopping mad about this. Just check the Sony Forums. It’s been six months without a formal acknowledgment from Sony or any hint of a fix. I must therefore warn you not to purchase this TV. I will be leaving this same post on the other four Sony TVs I purchased at Best Buy so you don’t think this is a false blast against Sony. I wish I had my money back and could return these five units and get something else that works.

This TV, so far, has been great. Built in settings seem good, maybe a little tweaking.
