  • Sony Picture Quality is the best

    Picture is excellent, Google TV works extremely well. I was using an Apple TV with my older Sony TV connected through an AV receiver prior to getting this Bravia. I'm now just using the built in Google TV connected directly to my AV receiver on the new Bravia 8. HDMI handshakes are now always flawless, no long delays waiting for Apple TV to start decoding Dolby Atmos, it's all very fluid and fast. Moved the Apple TV to my other TV. Also to correct another review here, it does not always default sound output to the TV; my receiver is always outputting the sound when the Bravia is turned on. I didn't even have to indicate any setting on the TV for this to happen.

    Either playing streams, movie apps or bluray, the picture is crisp and vibrant. Pc and video games look equally as stunning. Watch out for burn-in and oversaturation. The sound is a bit limited but using hdmi arc features make it a very enticing option with an external home theather amplifier.

    Overall the picture quality of this TV is tough to beat. If you are looking for the full theater experience I would recommend a sound bar or external sound system as that may be the only weakness of the TV. For regular TV watching the built in speakers and sufficient.

  • Bravia 8 picture is gorgeous, powers itself off

    The Bravia 8 picture is beautiful. However, it powers off intermittently even though I have disabled all of the settings which might cause it. This is a known problem and very frustrating.

    Amazing picture and easy to use interface. Easy to set up and customize. Hard to knock this tv, but if I had to it would be the sound. Needs a nice soundbar for sure

  • Great Picture, UI has some glitches

    Upsized from a 65” LG OLED. Picture is great (same OLED panel as LG) and only knock is the UI is glitchy at times, especially with AppleTV.

Regarding the interface behavior you mentioned with Apple TV, a quick way to keep everything running smoothly is to perform a soft reset. You can do this by holding down the power button on your Sony remote for about 10 seconds until the TV restarts; this refreshes the system and often clears up those minor glitches.
