Organic LED displays (OLED) TV's are susceptible to image retention (burn-in) due to the characteristics of the materials used. Image retention may occur if an image is continuously displayed for a long period of time or the same image is repeatedly displayed. To protect your TV screen, avoid using images that may cause image retention. The good news is that we have equipped it with functions that automatically adjust the screen conditions. Respectively: Panel refresh, Panel calibration, Pixel shift, and Function to adjust the screen brightness. These functions automatically run according to your TV’s condition or you can run them manually.

Defective vertical pixel line. Poor quality

There is a noticeable black/dark blue pixelated vertical line down the middle of my screen. The vertical line actually started appearing 4 months into owning the TV. I do not watch TV much so this TV has been lightly used, at most. I chose Sony over LG in good faith that Sony is the superior brand, and I still do. However, seeing these reviews and customers having similar experiences, I am starting to question those beliefs. I am outside of the 1 year warranty that Sony provides on their OLED TV's by 4 months and I am told there is no way to repair the defective vertical pixelated line unless I replace the entire panel which I am told would cost more than the actual TV itself. Disappointed in the situation and predicament I am in. I am hoping Sony reads this and restores my faith in their product, I am just in disbelief that there is nothing I can do and the authorized Sony service center in my area cannot repair it.

Won’t turn on after 2.5 months and has a red light at the bottom that blinks 4 times and does nothing else. Called Sony, who assured me that it was a known problem and gave me a concierge contact at Sony named Sally who does not answer her phone, return messages, or return emails. I was convinced to purchase this TV when I had originally wanted an LG. Do yourself a favor, buy the LG over this $3000 paper weight hanging on my wall on Christmas Day.

I'm more of a movie and sports fan than a gamer so this is perfect for all my 4k HDR content on my Plex! Be sure to get a tried and tested HDMI 2.1 cable. I haven't had any EARC issues thanks to doing a little research on good cables!

A80J series still rocks

That said, the software needs a few updates. In particular, the media player is a bit buggy. We just use the one on our bluray player, so it's no big deal...but it's strange that the player is different and better since both devices are from Sony.

While we're delighted that you like most of the features and overall picture quality of the TV, it's unfortunate to hear you've been running into difficulty when using the Media Player on your Google TV. If you can't playback content or an error appears during playback, troubleshooting steps are provided in this helpful link:

We also recommend doing a soft reset. Hold down the power button on the remote for 5-10 seconds until the restart screen option comes up, select restart and let the TV shutdown and restart itself and see if the problem is still there.

Slightly Underwhelming

It will be mounted from the lower half which means the TV ends up sitting higher. And if you are streaming content using Roku, the video quality is not as clear or bright.

A bit disappointed

I wish I had asked more questions about the tv I bought. I did not realize it would not allow me to watch my main programs without the purchase of addition equipment. Also, I have to return the sound bar mount as it did not fit the bar though I was told it would.
