Sony - 77" Class BRAVIA XR A80J Series OLED 4K UHD Smart Google TV

I initially had a 48" LG OLED for my Series X in my game room which opened my eyes to how amazing the OLED tvs are. I wanted to replace out TCL LED TV in the living room with an OLED and decided on the Sony A80j. Pros: - A+ Picture Quality - Great for Gaming ESPECIALLY PS5! - VRR - 4K HDR Dolby Vision - PERFECT Blacks - NO backlight glow - NO panel clouding - Quick Response - Great additional built in features (Live Color Super Sampling) - Handles Reflections well - Gets bright Cons: - NOT for a VERY bright room with no way to control the light - Google TV is mediocre at best and sometimes sluggish (We use a Roku in place) I did a bunch of review diving online and YouTube and landed on the A80j. The main purpose of the TV was to be in the living room and be used for primarily Movies and TV with a secondary use being for the PS5. In conclusion of my research I realized that the A80j was better than the LG CX for Movies... Also a better option if you were using it with the PS5 since it is Sony and has an even better handshake with the console than a Xbox would. I also went forward with it for gaming since I knew that it would get VRR at a later date which it did. The picture is top notch and there is nothing better than OLED in my opinion. The only drawbacks would be if your room it is in in VERY bright. Like a room with many windows but no curtains or blinds. Ours is in our living room that has 3 windows that the tv faces (with blinds and curtains) as well as 2 windows in our kitchen (with blinds). I have zero complaints about the brightness. It also handles reflections very well imo. When you are sitting in just the right spot on the catch at the right time you can get some sun reflection through the blinds in the kitchen but it is really minimized with the type of finish the screen has. Games and movies look beautiful on this panel! It can output 120hz for gaming as well and looks great doing it! Do not be afraid to experiment with the additional features built inside of this TV. Sony is one of the best in the industry. Find a good baseline of what to have on and off online and tweak from there. You will be floored with the quality and clarity of this TV and never want to go back from an OLED. People worry about burn in but I think they WAY over think it. I have 2 OLEDs and have not been worried at all about it. Be smart... Don't leave it on a static screen forever. There is Pixel Shift, screen savers etc built into all the newer OLEDs!

Great television , beautiful picture quality and decent sound , the picture quality is best in class and the interface is easy to learn I bought in sale however still expensive compared to lot of other standard led however you pay for the quality

If you love Oled and its characteristics, then you'll love this model. I previously was an LG C1 (65")user and that panel is phenomenal! There was an unfortunate accident with the C1 and put me back on the market for a new tv. I tried out the Sony A80J(65") but I hated the matte screen due to its aggressive visual muting (hard to describe). I then for other reasons decided to move to 77". I wanted the new ATSC 3.0 functionality and Sony is the only one that carries it so far. Since this 77" has a glossy instead of matte coating, it really shines. Picture quality is top notch. Gaming on the C1 is slightly better but the Sony A80J is no slouch. You cannot go wrong with the A80J or the C1 but I choose this one out of my prefernce.

There is Bravia then there is MEGA Bravia with OLED. This Sony - 77" Class BRAVIA XR A80J Series OLED 4K just really out performs in every way. The color res, the black vs white color rendition, the performance with refresh etc. This unit is the king of big screen tv. I have purchased SONY since 1978 and this generation has just outperformed visually. The TV has great streaming access via the Android OS system on it and with watching NETFLIX or YouTubeTV it out performs itself in every way. 4K is stunning. I use Presonus self powered speakers from the headphone out (variable output) and It just blows me away with the quality. I really recommend this TV.

Sony has upped its game with this TV. See it to believe it. Pros: 1. PQ is a 10/10 at the least. 2. Upscaling is another 10/10. 3. Sound from tv is amazingly good, but obviously can’t beat a dedicated speaker. 4. Google tv interface and settings are easy to operate. 5. Bravia core is an amazing free app which changes streaming forever. 6. Build quality is superb. 7. 3 way stand is a welcome feature for soundbar placement or a narrow stand. 8. The tv gets bright enough for a well lot room as long as the tv is not directly facing the sun. Cons: 1. Only 2 hdmi 2.1 ports: A big downside for gamers 2. No VRR support at this moment which is another big issue for hardcode gamers. 3. The EARC implementation is buggy. A lot of audio dropouts and also the consumption/passthrough of lossless PCM transmission(from apple tv ) is really bad. Worth mentioning: the 55” and 65” model has a matte finish screen where as the 77” tv has a traditional Glossy screen. In dark rooms both perform equally well but in a well lit room, i feel the matte finish somehow appears blue and reflects light more from sides making the screen image look dimmer. The glossy one performs well even a well lit room.

I went to the store with this TV in mind, but I looked at some other high quality TVs too. I seriously considered a Sony LED TV, the price difference was maybe $700 less and the LED had a surprisingly wide viewing angle. However, when I compared the audio, wow, this TV blows everything else away. No need for a sound bar! My old Samsung with a soundbar sounded terrible and the difference in sound levels between voices and guns or music was laughable, I was always turning the volume up and down. A+ service to the salesman for giving me a full demonstration including audio, he went out of his way to assist me. My only gripe is the remote is either weak or maybe the google TV is lagging or slow, I seem to be pushing the remote buttons twice for every scroll or enter, hopefully they just gave me weak batteries from new. It's bad enough I may ask for a new remote if fresh batteries doesn't fix it, Check out the pics, that cat looks real! And the clarity of OLED is undeniable, the facial hair on Trinity in Matrix 4 on HBO Max stands out like never before!

PQ is outstanding on this large TV. I’ve had a Pioneer KURO Plasma, Sony 930D LED, Sony A8F OLED, and the LG CX OLED. The CX had a good picture but cats and that pointer LG uses don’t mix. The user interface is great. This is the closest I’ve seen to the KURO in motion but that technology is dead. This panel gets plenty bright for me and I can see detail in shadows. Highly recommend this panel.

I have been a fan of sony TVs for more than 30 years. When I moved to Florida 8 years ago I bought my first 4k 43 inches tv and that tv it is still standing and working so now the decision to purchase my first OLED was really easy but I did not know which one to go with, I wanted this one but it was too expensive but thanks to the Tv Gods they took 1000$ of this one, one week before the release which totally increase my decision. now the Television. the image is just gorgeous, you want to have your family pictures on a 77-inch screen displaying all day while not watching tv, connect your google account, and you are set. the movies and Netflix just amazing, my first OLED tv and Sony came to the rescue. You will not be disappointed.
