Better than my "old" 65" SONY

The only odd thing is when I turn it on it always says "no signal". It finds the signal after a few moments but the previous TV didn't do that so I'm just mentioning it as the only "negative" (which isn't really a negative).

The 77" A80J is a great choice for an upgrade! Glad to know you like the superb features and you've seen the overall improvements of your new A80J TV over your previous model. We regret to learn you're having issues with the TV doesn't have a picture or displays a NO SIGNAL message. There are many reasons your TV may not display a picture or receive a signal. Some of these issues can be fixed by simply restarting the TV. To do that, simply press and hold the POWER button until Power off appears on the screen. When restarting with the remote or menu, the TV will automatically power off and back on after a short time.

Pretty good but not good enough

This TV includes a Light Sensor that optimizes picture brightness to room conditions, boosting brightness in light rooms and reducing it in dark ones so you get the perfect view. You can configure various settings related to the TV display such as color and brightness for picture quality, or screen size. The actual display may vary or some settings may not be available depending on your model/country/region and the content you are watching. Press the (Quick Settings) button on the remote control, then select [Settings] — [Display & Sound] — the desired option.

Sony OLED 77"

The first TV was defective (random flashes on screen) and Best Buy immediately offered to deliver replacement. The Geek Squad both times they delivered the TV was also extremely helpful. It is just frustrating to spend so much on a TV and Xfinity have basically no content available in 4k.

We regret to hear that you had a display issue with the first Bravia TV that you received. This is usually not the case with our premium TVs. Glad to know everything has been taken care of and was handled professionally. Please contact the manufacturer regarding your set top/cable box, and what content is supported in 4K.
4K requires HDR compatible content from supported streaming services, such as Netflix, Amazon Video or HDR compatible content device connected via HDMI input. If you are watching from an external output like a cable box or your Blu-ray, please make sure that you have enabled the Enhanced Format setting on the TV. When you watch 4K picture with High-Quality, use a Premium High Speed HDMI Cable(s) that supports speeds of 18 Gbps.

Sony has good video - average picture

However, the picture is good but only average. I had high hopes that the deep blacks would look better than my much older Samsung which struggled with deep blacks. Unfortunately, no improvement in this area. For this price point I expected more on the picture side.

The quality of the source is also a big factor in getting an excellent picture quality. Having said that, picture mode settings provide preset adjustments for the type of picture you are viewing. Picture settings also allow a wide array of changes to color, contrast, motion settings, and brightness that can improve the viewed content on your Google TV. The picture quality may improve if you change it in [Picture] under [Settings].

Sony Bravia XR OLED not as smart as it could be!

Can view from severe angles. Setup with WEB a bit of a pain, with several restarts, but finally registered after about the 10th try.
