The good, it’s all the TV I needed. And if it lasts as long as the last Bravia, we’ll be ok. The bad? The entire Google interface is making me regret everything.

We understand that not everyone likes the Google TV interface and we appreciate your feedback. If you choose Google TV (not Basic TV) when you set up your Google TV, you can manage settings for the current Google Account to display Apps only mode on the Home screen. Press the (Quick Settings) button on the remote control, then select [Settings] — [Accounts & Sign In] — [Apps only mode]. Additionally, movies and TV recommendations in For you come from your list of streaming services. By selecting Manage Services from the Home menu, you can view and change your list of services (or to not include content from within For you).
You can also choose Basic TV when you set up your Google TV. Only pre-installed apps on your TV are available and you can't install other apps. When you press the HOME button on the remote control, you can find all pre-installed apps on the Home menu.
Despite your concerns, we're truly glad that you're enjoying most of the features on your new Bravia TV. Great tv only for HDR and SDR

Issues with varying brightness from tv, menus, sports, games, etc. Lack of ALLM and VRR is a very big let down. Fonts aren't as bright and sharp compared to the LG CX.

I know we have all seen this statement, but please believe me. No exaggeration here. We had this TV delivered in 12/21. After a tortuous 8 months of owning/using this TV, I finally called Geek Squad out to fix it because all of the stations wouldn't tune it (I use OTA antenna, and all other TV's in house tune in fine). Something happened after Geek Squad swapped a board, and the TV then became inoperable. We got credit for the Sony, and went with a different brand for our replacement. The difference in operating system and speed, is like the difference between year 2000 computer vs a 2020 computer. During the 8 months of using the Sony, I had to re-tune the stations constantly to get them to tune in. The operating system was slower than a 1st gen Firestick that had been used for 5 years and was full from sideloading apps. It constantly buffered when changing back and forth between channels and applications. My wife told me from the get go that something was wrong, and I just didn't want that to be the case. Now that I have a different TV, it is night and day. Kind of like when you upgrade to a new smartphone after your provider had slowed down your old one to where it was no longer usable. Just a ridiculously terrible TV for the price. Picture and Sound were great. Operating system is unusable.

If it takes a long time for picture to appear or the TV becomes locked up or unresponsive when changing channels and applications, we highly recommend downloading and installing the latest software for the TV to make sure your TV runs as smooth as possible.

For unexpected issues, you can perform a power reset to resolve some performance issues that may occur while the TV is on.
