I'm honestly a Samsung TV enthusiast but my older Samsung 8 series (2017) is already having issues. I had a Sony before my stream of Samsungs and honestly thought the picture quality and technology was better.... until I bought this TV.... Dony definitely stepped their game up and are competitively priced. I recently bought Sony MX4 headphones to replace my old Bose QCIII and I was blown away with the sound, so when I saw this tv on sale for $2199 and the rival Samsung 85" for $3299 I decided to give Sony another go and glad I did. I'll say the TV is not as bright as Samsung but for my basement entertainment needs, this fit the bill. My other Samsung Q6 was too bright in movie setting and had noticeable blooming. This TV will have noticeable blooming but for the price, it outmatched the Samsung in my humble opinion. TV looks great, blooming is okay, colors are great and I saved myself $1100. I would say if you plan on having this tv in a bright room, it will most likely look a little dim in some scenes, but this TV does get bright, just not as bright as the Samsung. All in all, for my needs, this was the best option and the Dolby vision and Netflix studio settings are great.I attached some procures... one with tv off, second with a dark scene and lights on and then a bright scene with vivid mode on.

So I'll start off with the 2 negatives of this tv for me. 1) it's Achilles heel which is brightness, after owning a Vizio, Samsung, and now Hisense for the bedroom tvs it is hard not to notice this tv doesn't get too bright. 2) tv corners of the screen are dark it can be highly noticable but i can deal with it with an 85 inch tv it is expected to not have 100% uniformity. Now the good part as far as watching movies, tv shows and live tv this thing is great. Colors are accurate and natural right out the box, and as I understand it almost needs no calibration. That being said the colors seemed muted to me for my viewing preference so i turned them up a bit in the settings to my liking. Motion on this tv is great and love that it is compatible with USB to Ethernet port to bypass the wifi limitations of the internet speed. Now to the most common thing I heard when considering to buy this tv, " just save your money and buy the 900h from last year it's the same tv". No this is not the same tv, they are very similar and share some components, but they have been refined on this model namely the gaming features. I have my PC with a 3080 plugged in at 4k 120 no perceivable issues. Also tried it on my Xbox series X both at 4k 120 and 4k 60 with Dolby vision as it is not capable of 4k 120hz Dolby vision at this time. With the PS5 it worked flawless. Vrr is not currently available but am sure this year's tvs will get it soon. Don't think Sony wants that headache of not putting it out. For the price this is the best bang for your buck at 85". Other alternatives are Samsung who doesn't support Dolby vision, or the LG 83 oled which is well over double the price as well as the x95j which will be better but idk if it will justify the almost 3k price difference with the 5 yr warranty. All in all for me at 3.5k with 5 years is a good deal for this tv.

Simply the best value for the Money for this size TV in this price range. If you want to go Oled you would be spending significantly more. Colors look very natural out of the box. Local dimming is great and blacks are super black. Use this in a theater room in the basement. You will see limited blooming in limited circumstances. For example swirling white loading logo on black background or subtitles on a black background. The blooming is much less noticable in these limited circumstances when the lights are on. When viewing standard content you will never notice it. I could have opted for 75in in a different brand but I'm so glad I went with the 85inch colors and all sorts of content look great. I have a curved Samsung 55inch from 2016.... I am ashamed to say I spent 2400 or so on that TV. This 85 inch is better in every way and 30 inches larger coming in at 200 ~ 400 less than what I paid for the Samsung . This is a steal. Treat yourself. You deserve this TV.

Bought to use in a large family room- dining room- kitchen area with lots of light and brightness, picture quality and color are excellent.

Went from a 65" LG CX, to a 75" Hisense U7G, and now this 85" Sony Monster of a TV. Couldn't be happier with the cost to size ratio (excellent condition open box, $1299). 4k 120hz works great, vrr now supported on my rtx 3080. Superb picture quality. Would definitely buy again.

I don’t know where we the way to begin the TV is really good and now offers VRR for PlayStation five which is great. Only use HDMI 3/4 if you are connecting a game console like PS5/Xbox Series X and then you have to go into the settings to turn on VRR or HDR10. Sony has so many hidden fractures. Space the pictures are great the blacks are really black compared to LG nano cell 90 Siri. The only problem that I have is the Wi-Fi keeps on cutting off so I bought an ethernet splitter because downstairs we don’t have Internet we only have one ethernet cable so this will do it and now it works fine Sony has a lot of features butter locked in the OS so you kind of have to read and figure out stuff on your own. It’s not so User-friendly but overall it’s a great TV

Very pleased with this tv. I was looking and researching for a TV with Google TV that also had Dolby Atmos and this is a match made in heaven for me. I already had a dolby atmos soundbar with my previous tv, just needed a TV with dolby atmos encoder and this has it. I also have a living with lots of light so I knew I needed a tv that could deal with glare and this is manageable. Obviously, this TV isn't an oled but watching shows and movies on this is amazing, especially at night which is when we mostly watch shows and movies! I took photos of the TV mounted and of the picture which is during the day with blinds closed. Truly enjoying this TV and the size. Finally, couldn't beat the price for the features and size of TV.

THIS (Doug Demuro voice) is a great tv. It’s not perfect, but for those of us who aren’t balling out of control with a comparable sized OLED, this will be more than sufficient. I upgraded from my Sony 65inch (XBR65-X850E) to this bigger 85 inch (KD85X91J). The picture is awesome, very bright, colors are accurate, black level is very nice!!! I don't have any OLED tv at home to compare with that, but what I saw in the store and how picture looks in dark room I cannot complaint about it at all - black is truly black!

Just bought this X91J Sony and I can say this is a very very good tv for the price. My theater room is not that big but the tv is a perfect for it. The closer the better makes you feel like you are at a theater. I have not hook it up to my surround sound yet but the tv sound/speakers are reall good. I have two windows at the back of the theater room that I covered with velvet blackout curtains to make it look good and dark, also to prevent glare on the tv. Big tv highly recommend this Tv. Love Sony

Overall awsome Tv. It’s the main component to my loft entertainment room and it does not disappoint. Images are clear and no issues with quality. Highly recommended.

Phenomenal tv, it’s so clear and you feel like you’re in a movie theater. Add a Sonos bar and your set!

This is the closest picture I have ever seen , it’s so close to a OLED it’s amazing ‼️‼️‼️I got it to replace a 75 inch Samsung and WOW it was so worth it , going from 75 up to 85 is a huge deal , but the image quality upgrade was worth more then I can truthfully explain , really ‼️Don’t waste your time and money on a OLED , get this and spend the rest on a Atmos receiver and speakers , and call it a day‼️I am using it is a dedicated home theater and I absolutely hate projection TV’s this is so much better and if you turn on the lights , yep, you still have a killer picture ‼️‼️‼️

Great TV! This is my 6th Sony LED and I am glad I pulled the trigger on it. Mounted it on the wall in a semi-bright room. Was able to angle it to where reflections are minimized. No blooming or vertical banding issues that I have seen on some of my other TVs.

Have been on the hunt to replace my wall projection TV unit for some time, waiting for a Great Quality unit at a Great Value. Have the OLED at home too and debated on the 77”, but wanted to get the big screen feel. Deep blacks and crisp! The SONY did not disappoint, great picture quality and couldn’t be happier!

Awesome tv. Reviews said it wasn’t for gaming. This tv rocks a series x at 4k 120hz with no problem. No lag. Just have to turn on vrr instead of Dolby vision in tv settings. Could not be happier with my tv. Awesome tuner. My 75 lg tv with the same indoor antenna had constant cut outs. With the Sony all channels play great and the colors are great. The open box experience did not go well once again. I bought an open box in excellent condition to find out in the store there was no box no table mounts or control. Basically only the tv. After they managed to pack it I had to load it in my truck risking to damage it. When I walk mounted it I discovered some scratches on the screen but fortunately you cant see them if you don’t go up close and from the side. Always go there and inspect what they are selling before you pay online. Fine print says you can get a refund and that’s it. But the price was good and after all that work to bring it home and mount it I decided to just let it go

Big TV with a great picture. I have this TV over my gas log fireplace; no, it doesn't get too hot. The TV is slightly angled and sits about six feet off the floor. The Room is approximately 20x24 with windows. Even with the blinds open, the TV still has a great picture. When I shut the blinds, or at night the TV really shines. I did find the wireless was faster than direct ethernet, due to the 100MB restriction when hooked up directly. If you have DISH or Direct TV be sure to set the resume last setting to default to eliminate the wait for the DISH to come on. So far this is the best TV I own and this includes my QLED Samsung. BTW the sound quality is okay, but I opted for the Sony Sound Bar with wireless Sub Woofer and sound is now awsome.

Great TV, way better than Samsung, easy to use and the color is outstanding, I am really happy with my purchases, I think the tv is really easy to use. I totally recommend Sony

Perfect picture for movies in home theater setup with a few addons bright and punches color. Sound is good out of box (ADD NAKAMICHI SHOCKWAFE 7.1.4 OR ABOVE IN 8 FOOT OR LESS CEILINGS otherwise ask about 7.1 atmos/DTS:X system Android system is good but( ROKU ULTRA AND ONE EASY CONTROL FOR USE) Have TCL 6 SERIES, LG OLED AND THIS TV. CLOSE BUT 480P , 720p 1080p upscale to 4k is awesome as sony puts money into upscaling Pictures of TCL and this Sony show both are good tv but Sony has edge and now cheaper Buy extended warranty as at 100+ pounds means too heavy to haul around. Bought install as looks great and they handle carefully. With the addons
