This was an upgrade from the A6000. Broke this camera in on a project that required some Behind the Scenes footage. Its ability to transition from video to photo is incredible and the quality of the stills is simply amazing. It still some learning left to do with this one(forgot to press the record button down all the way to stop a take a few times), but I will say I do enjoy the menu setup better than the A7 III. It is definitely worth the upgrade however, if you still have the A7 III, that is worth keeping.

Great camera. I’ve owned the Alpha 7III and this IV is amazing. The materials are different. I would have the say the A7III is a tougher built camera.

The camera works as expected very capable. A vast improvement from my DSLR form a competing brand. Native Lens selection was my main driver on the selection.

Coming from the A7III to the A7IV I feel like the upgrade has been well worth it. My only complaint is that the battery life on the A7IV isn’t as good as the A7III. For some reason it drains much quicker.

Working well so far, I’m satisfied although I certainly think that low light conditions without controlled light do not work amazing in this sensor. Still a fineeee camera.

The Sony A7IV is a true masterpiece in the world of mirrorless cameras. Its cutting-edge technology and impressive capabilities make it a game-changer for photographers and videographers alike. The A7IV boasts a 33-megapixel full-frame sensor, delivering stunningly detailed images with impeccable dynamic range and low-light performance.
One of its standout features is the 5-axis in-body image stabilization, which ensures that every shot is incredibly sharp, even in challenging shooting conditions. The real-time eye autofocus is lightning-fast and incredibly accurate, making it a breeze to capture portraits and fast-moving subjects.
For videographers, the A7IV is a dream come true. It supports 4K video recording at 60fps and even offers 10-bit 4:2:2 color depth, ensuring your videos are nothing short of cinematic quality. The flip-out LCD touchscreen and excellent battery life further enhance its usability.

I recently upgraded to the Sony A7 IV, and it has completely transformed my photography experience. The 33MP sensor delivers stunning image quality with amazing detail and vibrant colors, perfect for my wildlife photography. Autofocus is lightning-fast and incredibly accurate, even in challenging conditions.
The customizable settings make it versatile for both photography and video work, and the 4K 60p video capabilities are outstanding. The ergonomics are perfect, and the menu system is much more intuitive than before. Battery life is impressive, allowing me to shoot for hours without worry.
Whether you’re a professional or an enthusiast looking to take your skills to the next level, the Sony A7 IV is worth every penny. Highly recommended!

Sony keeps making strides in their camera offerings and the Sony a7IV camera is an improvement over the two previous models I have been using: a7RIII and a9. I have been mostly very happy with the previous models, photographing professionally. I came to Sony while I was still using Canon DSLR cameras, lenses speed lights and purchased a mirrorless, Sony RX-1 for personal use and I was blown away at the out of the camera image quality and small size of the fixed, 35mm/2 lens camera. I’m a still photographer not a videographer, so I have no experience in the video realm of these cameras. When I want video I use my iPhone 13 Pro which does an amazing job. So how I came upon getting the a7IV — I had an accident two months ago at a wedding I was photographing — I slipped and fell while holding my two main cameras and needless to say I damaged the a7rIII with a 70-200/2.8 Sony zoom attached. Thus, I found myself needing to have a working second camera within a few days to cover more photo jobs and another wedding the following weekend. My (July 2023) research lead me to wish for the a9II as the a9 has been a favorite for much of my work and the a1 that is so nice but more than I need, mainly because I don’t often photograph sports and both models were outside my immediate desired price range. So, the a7IV fit the basic needs and price fit perfectly. The a7IV has really nice color, image quality (33 MP); it works faster and auto focus is speedy and works great; the newer hand grip is longer and better for holding, although I still get a sore spot after a 12 hour day holding it so often with a Tamron 35-150mm/2-2.8 (super lens!). I like the lightness of the camera body that may contain a lot of polycarbonate as opposed to aluminum, which can hold up well but may not be as sturdy as an a9II in practice. What I am not as satisfied with is the new menu design which seems to go on forever, and the “my menu” helps but not in all settings. I do wish Sony would design the menu system as two systems, one for still photography and one for video and just keep them separate, it just seems it would make things operatively quicker and visually simpler. The a7IV is valuable as a professional camera but keep in mind it is designed as something of a base model, beginners camera and it’s not geared as a pro model. I believe most people will find this camera (in 2023) to be a wonderful model to own and use either as a primary camera or as a secondary body.

Your extensive experience and feedback with the many different cameras, lenses and phone is great to give everyone an insight on each items from your point of view. As a beginner stepping into the world of photography, the Sony A7 IV has been an exciting and sometimes overwhelming experience—but mostly in a good way. This camera is packed with features that, while advanced, still feel accessible once you start getting used to it.
The image quality is incredible. Even with just the basic kit lens, my photos look sharp, colorful, and professional. The autofocus system is one of the standout features for me. It tracks eyes and faces automatically, which makes taking portraits or action shots much easier—I don’t have to worry about focusing manually or missing the moment.
The camera has a lot of buttons and settings, which can seem intimidating at first. But once I spent some time watching tutorials and experimenting, I started to understand how much creative control it gives. The menu system is improved from older models, but still a bit confusing at times. Fortunately, there are customizable buttons, so I could set it up in a way that made sense for me.
I’ve also started experimenting with video, and the 4K quality is stunning. The flip-out screen makes it super easy to record myself or get creative angles, which is great for vlogging.
Overall, the Sony A7 IV might be a bit pricey and advanced for some beginners, but if you're serious about learning and want something you can grow into, it’s an amazing investment. It’s helped me improve quickly and made photography more fun and rewarding.
