Coming from the A7III to the A7IV I feel like the upgrade has been well worth it. My only complaint is that the battery life on the A7IV isn’t as good as the A7III. For some reason it drains much quicker.

Working well so far, I’m satisfied although I certainly think that low light conditions without controlled light do not work amazing in this sensor. Still a fineeee camera.

    Sony A7 IV Review

The Sony A7 IV is one of the best hybrid cameras I have used. It gives a great balance between photography and video, which makes it perfect for creators who do both. The image quality is excellent, with beautiful detail, strong dynamic range, and very reliable autofocus. For photography, the 33MP sensor gives enough resolution for landscapes, portraits, events, and everyday shooting without making the files too heavy. The colors look natural, and the camera performs very well even in low light. The autofocus is one of my favorite features. Eye autofocus for people and animals is fast and accurate, which makes shooting much easier and more dependable. For video, the A7 IV is also very powerful. The 10-bit color, S-Log3, and sharp 4K footage make it a serious tool for filmmakers and content creators. It feels like a camera that can handle professional work while still being easy enough for personal projects, travel, and social media content. The body feels solid and comfortable in the hand. The fully articulating screen is very useful for video, vlogging, and shooting from difficult angles. Battery life is also good, and the menu system is much better than older Sony cameras. The only downside is that 4K 60fps has a crop, and the camera can feel a little expensive once you add good lenses. But overall, the Sony A7 IV is a reliable, high-quality hybrid camera that delivers professional results in both photo and video. I highly recommend it for photographers, filmmakers, and content creators who want one camera that can do almost everything well.

I recently upgraded to the Sony A7 IV, and it has completely transformed my photography experience. The 33MP sensor delivers stunning image quality with amazing detail and vibrant colors, perfect for my wildlife photography. Autofocus is lightning-fast and incredibly accurate, even in challenging conditions. The customizable settings make it versatile for both photography and video work, and the 4K 60p video capabilities are outstanding. The ergonomics are perfect, and the menu system is much more intuitive than before. Battery life is impressive, allowing me to shoot for hours without worry. Whether you’re a professional or an enthusiast looking to take your skills to the next level, the Sony A7 IV is worth every penny. Highly recommended!

I’ve spent a good amount of time using Sony cameras across both photo and video work, and overall my experience has been very positive. What stands out immediately is the image quality. Sony’s sensors consistently deliver sharp detail, strong dynamic range, and excellent low-light performance. Whether shooting in bright outdoor conditions or dim indoor settings, I’ve been able to capture clean, usable images without excessive noise. The color science has improved over time as well—earlier models leaned cooler, but newer ones feel more natural and require less correction in post. Overall, Sony cameras are a great choice if you prioritize image quality, fast and accurate autofocus, and strong video capabilities. While there’s a learning curve and some added cost, the performance and reliability make them a worthwhile investment for both enthusiasts and professionals.

Sony keeps making strides in their camera offerings and the Sony a7IV camera is an improvement over the two previous models I have been using: a7RIII and a9. I have been mostly very happy with the previous models, photographing professionally. I came to Sony while I was still using Canon DSLR cameras, lenses speed lights and purchased a mirrorless, Sony RX-1 for personal use and I was blown away at the out of the camera image quality and small size of the fixed, 35mm/2 lens camera. I’m a still photographer not a videographer, so I have no experience in the video realm of these cameras. When I want video I use my iPhone 13 Pro which does an amazing job. So how I came upon getting the a7IV — I had an accident two months ago at a wedding I was photographing — I slipped and fell while holding my two main cameras and needless to say I damaged the a7rIII with a 70-200/2.8 Sony zoom attached. Thus, I found myself needing to have a working second camera within a few days to cover more photo jobs and another wedding the following weekend. My (July 2023) research lead me to wish for the a9II as the a9 has been a favorite for much of my work and the a1 that is so nice but more than I need, mainly because I don’t often photograph sports and both models were outside my immediate desired price range. So, the a7IV fit the basic needs and price fit perfectly. The a7IV has really nice color, image quality (33 MP); it works faster and auto focus is speedy and works great; the newer hand grip is longer and better for holding, although I still get a sore spot after a 12 hour day holding it so often with a Tamron 35-150mm/2-2.8 (super lens!). I like the lightness of the camera body that may contain a lot of polycarbonate as opposed to aluminum, which can hold up well but may not be as sturdy as an a9II in practice. What I am not as satisfied with is the new menu design which seems to go on forever, and the “my menu” helps but not in all settings. I do wish Sony would design the menu system as two systems, one for still photography and one for video and just keep them separate, it just seems it would make things operatively quicker and visually simpler. The a7IV is valuable as a professional camera but keep in mind it is designed as something of a base model, beginners camera and it’s not geared as a pro model. I believe most people will find this camera (in 2023) to be a wonderful model to own and use either as a primary camera or as a secondary body.

I recently purchased the Sony Alpha 7 IV and I’m very impressed with the quality. The photo sharpness and colors are amazing, especially for portraits and outdoor photography. The autofocus is very fast and makes it easier for someone like me who is still learning photography. Video quality is also excellent and the stabilization helps a lot when shooting handheld. The menu takes a little time to learn, but once you get used to it, it’s a very powerful camera. I bought this as an investment to start photography work and I feel like it was a great choice. Highly recommend for both beginners who want to grow and professionals.

I owned several Sony Cameras, this is by far my favorite. The A7IV has the right amount of MP, when you have too many, like the R series (I have the RIV) you will find a lot of noise in your photos, heavy files and slow down your processing time. The screen is perfect for an hybrid camera, all in one photo-video.

I was a Canon user for some time. After a research I decided for Sony. Until now I have no complaints, the image quality exceeds all my expectations. All the features are amazing. Is a little heavy with the Sony 24-70mm 2.8. Also use the Sigma adapter for my Canon lenses and work very wrll, no complaints at all. I am very glad with my selection on this camera, I have no regrets about this purchase and recommend this camera 100%.
