Customers enjoy the Alpha a7's superb image quality, compact size, and lightweight design, finding it easy to use even in low-light conditions. Many appreciate its affordability. However, some users point to the battery life as needing improvement, and a lack of a built-in flash is also noted.

Small and easy to use with the mirrorless advantage of being able to see exposure and dof through the EVF before you take the picture. The kit lens is very good, but I dumped it for the Zeiss 55mm f/1.8 and the image quality is outstanding. Highly recommend this camera.

At 60% the size and weight of its nearest full-frame competitor, the a7 mk.1 makes an incredibly portable body for professional photography. I would recommend it without reservation to photographers with manual legacy glass (or even those looking to collect some at garage-sale prices!). The Sony lens ecosystem is staggeringly expensive, but one huge advantage of the mirrorless body is the ability to shoot with virtually any lens that covers a 35mm sensor!

This camera replaced my A77 model and I like the fact it is a mirrorless camera. The pictures are sharp, beautiful and clear. I really enjoy the compactness of the camera. It works a lot like my A77 with the differences being this camera is a full frame and thus the old lenses do not work with it.
The However is it does not come with a flash and the old falsh does not work with it. So you have to buy a falsh, thus more money for Sony. That is why not a 5 star rating.

Hi LABINNS, we're happy to see you like the camera. You can still use the A-Mount lenses with this, provided you connect an adapter like LA-EA3 or 4. The same with older accessories, you can attach them to the shoe with the ADP-MAA. Thanks_Mitch

I purchased this camera for my wife who is a novice at using an interchangeable lense camera but has an excellent eye. This camera performs awesome and she's so happy with the quality and size. Being a veteran DSR owner myself, I enjoy the ability to adjust settings as I see fit however you can just put it in P or Auto and you'll be just fine. The kit lense is great too! I'm already planning to get a nice Zeiss prime for it in the next year!

I recommend this camera. This is my first DSLR and I was able to figure out how to use the functions. Take some time to learn about the camera via online videos. Takes great pictures. Very light weight compared to other full frame cameras. Very pleased with the build quality.

This camera has all the features of a professional camera without being overly bulky. Photos come to life with 24 megapixels every photo will look life like, the only reason I cannot give this camera a 5 out of 5 is due to horrible battery life. Not a flaw of camera just of Sony, the power of this device drains the battery quick, have a few spares on hand to change out on the go, overall awesome camera!!

This is an amazing camera. Giving me the results I was looking for. Quality of an DSLR in a much smaller package. I downsized from a Canon 6D and am not regretting it one bit.

This is my first mirrorless camera, after years of Nikons, and I'm very pleased with it. I still have a Nikon but I'm using it less and less. This camera takes great photos, it's very easy to use and the more I learn about it the more it can do.

The a7 has been out for two years but I was only able to recently purchase one. This is one of the cheapest full frame bodies that you can buy new. It is an all around well balanced camera. Everything is very good but not the best. The af is poor with the original firmware. After updating it the af is good in decent light. The controls are well laid out and the fit and finish is very good. The kit lens is actually phenomenal for the price. If it meets your needs I would highly recommend purchasing with the camera. There are also good primes available for additional money. If you already own lenses or Sony does not offer the lens that you want there are a myriad of adapters available to use different mounts on the sony a7

I have been shooting with this camera for a month now. I wish I had made the switch from Canon you Sony much sooner.
The compact size is a blessing. It does relieve a lot of the strain that comes with lugging a DSLR around. The EVF is accurately depicts the image before shooting, and having that information available as you take the shot is a convenience.
Image quality is superb. Great dynamic range, clarity, rendering of colors, etc.
The menu system does take some getting used to. It can be confusing so there is a learning curve. Ergonomically it handles well, although some of the buttons feel cramped. While shooting I have accidentally moved the exposure dial. Battery isn’t to great, but I keep 4 spare batteries just in case. Shutting of the camera while not in use makes a huge difference.
Sony’s FE lens selection can be expensive but adapters can open up a lot more options. Pairing this body with vintage film lenses (Canon FD, Minolta, etc) can yield some amazing results.
Overall I am thoroughly satisfied and glad I made the switch

Great camera to move up from semi pro to pro camera. Low light pictures are great.battery life is Short rating would be absolutely 10 out of 10 but as is because of your battery life I could only really give 8 out of 10 but still worth the money just had to buy a battery .

This camera delivers great images. It's lightweight and full of features. I'm a novice photographer, but I've been so impressed that I added two lenses to my collection. I took senior portraits with it and it made me look like a pro. You won't be disappointed.

I have used the Canon T3i (back in the day), the Nikon 5100 (also back in the day) before meeting the Sony a6000. After owning the a6000, I found myself getting addicted to it. I had been looking about graduating to the a7 series. Now that I have, I am even more pleased with my a7. The camera is great in low light, very compact for full-frame, there are several adapters for non Sony lenses available (I am using one adapter for Canon lenses), and overall just easy to use. Great camera!

Great camera for the money. Love the mirrorless system. Camera is a bit noisy and struggles with focus in low light. Excellent camera for landscapes and macro use.

This is an excellent camera. It is compact yet full frame. The lenses that are available for this body are not abundant, however, I am very pleased with the Zeiss 55mm 1.8 prime lens and the kit lens that comes with it. I have also purchased the Zeiss Sonnar 35mm 2.8 (which is very compact) and cannot wait to use it for my everyday shooting.

I upgraded from a cropped sensor Sony a5100. This fulll frame a7 produces amazing images (even with the bundle kit zoom lens). Pictures have richer contrast and low noise at high ISO. Even though there is a new a7 mark II on the market but I opted for this one because of its light weight and good price (and it met my need which is mainly a still photography).

I'm still learning to use this amazing camera, but each time that I do, I'm fully satisfied with the results. Looking forward to using it more each time. I've got a class coming up on Street Photography, which is why I bought it in the first place, because of its slim design and light weight, being full frame is a plus!
