Great for photo but Focus Breathing is TERRIBLE!

If you are a video shooter or content creator looking for a lens that is good for both photo and video stay away from this lens because the focus breathing is absolutely horrendous it has ruined a ton of shots. I will be picking up the 35mm 1.8 instead. If Sony adds focus breathing compensation to the A7Siii / FX3 then this lens would be usable for video but until then I will be using something else with my FX3 and A7c. If you are shooting on the Sony A7iv then this is irrelevant since that camera body does have Focus Breathing Compensation.

Have spent 20k this year alone . All my items are less then 24 months old , had a small simple issue fixed - vs the store manger in Ocala arguing and end of day not replacing a 40 phone screen . Mamger in ocala should def not manage anything.

Wait for sony to improve their full frame wide line up. This suffers from horrible breathing and to the point where I would recommend cheap third party lenses over this 35mm. The 24mm is a little better when it comes to this issue but is still a deal breaker if you mostly shoot video in AF.. If MF is your jam "always" then you don't have anything to worry about, just get it if you can afford it.. you'll probably like it... but if you shoot yourself and AF is important this will give you a headache like no other.
