I went back and forth over which Blu-Ray player to get, since Sony was the originator for Blu-Ray!! It has not disappointed me at all so far!! Great, clear video and the audio has been booming so far!! Haven't had it long but I've definitely been pleased with the product!!

I bought this to replace my old Samsung player. My old player smart features didn't work very well. Couldn't get Netflix to play in HD. Replaced it with the Sony and network speed quadrupled. Are you listening Samsung? You need to use faster NIC adapters in your Smart devices.

Sony always makes the best Blu Ray Players. I now have 6 Sony Blu Ray players and 1 is 9 years old and still going strong. This Blu Ray Player has wireless and most of the apps you would want in a streaming player. the one negative I found was i could not get the CBS app on it.

Ever since a couple of the big electronic companies left the Blu-ray/DVD player market, there's not many options. Every single make and model has mediocre reviews. This BDP-S6700 from Sony was no different, but it was what was available rapidly and the price was in line with the others in its class. I read all the reviews, and the constant mention of glitching and freezing. I had thought maybe Sony would have pushed a firmware update by now to correct the issues since this is not a new model at all. However, it must really be an matter of the hardware itself because I received a fresh 2020 production, firmware is current, and it freezes up every few disc plays. What's frustrating is that you have to unplug it to get it out of this state and reset. I'd like to say pick a different brand, but the others have the same complaints! UGH!

the upscaling for standard dvd movies is very good the 4k up-scaling is not very good don't really notice the difference.the reason I bought this model was for the 4k upscaling so I was disappointed with this purchase.

I was replacing a Samsung Blu-Ray player I have had for a few years and sealed my decision to never purchase another Samsung product again. It was slow and clunky and would not play some older DVD's. This inexpensive player gets the job done and the smart features are great for cord cutters.

Only used a few times. Has played 1 disc that previous player did not. Holding back one star because I’ve not tried mirroring the internet w my ipad yet. The main reason I decided to purchase.

I bought this player to use in the family room. Although it's not a 4k unit it more than does the job. I like that its bluetooth enabled. I can connect my wireless speakers or connect my headphones when I'm watching a movie or using a streaming service late at nite.

My old Blu-Ray just froze so reading reviews did not make purchasing a new one easy. I went with this Sony based on prior reputation and so far have been very pleased. Set up was very simple. I would recommend this product.

Picture quality is great! We had problems with another DVD player being able to play the movies, but this one had no problems.

This is the 3rd Sony Blue Ray player for me. Before that, I’ve had four regular Sony DVD players. They are always dependable and work as described. We’ve had 5 TV’s too...all Sony. Brands come and go, others endure. Of those that do, Sony is ultimately the best.

I purchased a Best Buy open box offering for this unit. Quite frankly that description was a bold faced lie. The unit was supposedly reviewed by the geek squad and was rated in excellent working condition - which was absolutely, unequivocally not true. When I opened the box (which has seen far better days) I found the unit filthy. I hooked it up, turned it on and connected it to my wifi network without issue. However, that was the last positive thing that happened. When I attempted to actually play a blu ray disc, the unit did not recognize the disc. I tried multiple other discs NONE WERE READ successfully. All of the discs i tried work just fine on my 10 year old blu ray player. I packed it up (better than the substandard packing it arrived in) and am sending back for a refund. It certainly appears that their Geek Squad quality control processes are non-existent. This is the last time I will purchase a “Open Box“ unit from Best Buy. Would rate zero stars if that were an option. I’d appreciate a call from a Best Buy representative to understand how the unit I received could be rated “open box - Excellent Condition”. But I won’t hold my breath.

I bought this blue ray player while on a vacation trip and I have to say that I’m impressed by the quality. It is a low cost item with high resolution and have no complaints about it. I’m actually going to buy more of these to replace all the old ones in the house.

Had a near 2yr old Sony similar model but older version. That saw the end of its life. Long story short this one doesn't have the same hiccups the other one had which is a plus. Faster and more reliable so far. Doesn't drop the WiFi every hour like the old one did which is a huge plus.

I've purchased only Sony disc players the last several years, as the remote controls that came with a couple of units I'd previously purchased from another manufacturer just didn't work as well. I thought I might use the bluetooth feature with wireless headphones when my wife is reading in the same room, but haven't purchased the headphones yet. Only negative I have thus far was my one attempt to stream Netflix programming. For some reason, about 50% of the programs appeared to be streamed at 30fps, and the coloring, skin tones in particular, was somewhat harsh and unrealistic. Experimented streaming those same Netflix programs on this new Sony player and an old AppleTV, back and forth in repeated comparisons, and the picture quality was definitely inferior when streaming through this Sony.
