Posted .Hi, JOIHN, I'm sorry to hear that. This Blu-ray player is not a 4K player. It will only upscale the pictures and videos to near-4K quality. You may check out the Sony UBP-X800M2 or the UBP-X800 4K UHD Blu-ray players instead. -Vincent

We're sorry to know that this is how the Bluray player was sold to you. The unit only upscales the disc but it cannot play a native 4k disc. As a suggestion, here are some of the Bluray players that are capable of playing regular 4k disc: UBP-X800M2,UBP-X800 and UBP-X700. Hope this helps!
